Dear All Competitive/Non-Competitive Starcraft Players/Gaming Players alike,
I, LastShadOw, am coming to you today to confess my acts of betrayal and angst against the entire community as a whole. What I did was not only moraly wrong, but also betrayal against fellow friends and others. Through the acts of map rigging, I gained an unfair advantage on a player, while having it be hidden through maps, it was like a hack disguised.

Initially I started out broodwar like any other player, just having fun and such, then learning of the proscene I opted to get competitive, however the first player that was good that was willing to help me, was none other than exalted. Through his ways, I gained a severe amount of bad manner that he inflicted upon others and me, I adopted his behavior.. and it was the wrong move.
Eventually after moving on from exalted, I began to play on west, and I wrote a thread on TL.net before my cheating ways began, looking for help, I got it, not because I was good or known, but because I asked kindly and humbly. I did not boast or brag. But eventually.. I did, and it was wrong of me, I overexaggerated my TvP skills and I underestimated other players alike.
Eventually after WGT Beta14Season, I felt like I needed more power to my play... I couldn't stop exalted prior to the wgt14 season.. and so I looked for a way to beat him. I rigged maps.. I gave my units unfair cost and time, and it generally let me have 'untouchable' play. Even still exalted would defy the cheats and still overpower me, but you know, it gave me something, it gave me timing and macro.
Because of the unfair unit count, my tornados would come out faster, and I learned "Oh wow, so this is when the Protoss is doing this, or, Oh wow this is what this protoss has at this time", and it built in to my senses, I felt the game play in minutes and seconds, not by unit count, not by supply count, I learned to play on instincts, and for once.. I felt like I was someone.. it felt good to beat known players, even if I was cheating, it just felt good at the time.
Sure this can be caused by lack of maturity and stupidness on my part, but still it was just so much power, I couldn't stop myself from having unreal macro and sick timing senses, It was too much for me to just throw away.
Eventually I used betrayal, I cheated against my own friends, I used what could be considered a 'hack'. I was not trustworthy, and I lied about doing it above all... I was manipulating everyone that trusted me and believed in me, and it was fucking wrong.
All this time I had been doing what was right, getting defeated to get better. Losing.. the greatest victory. I was getting pummeled by better players, and slowly BUT surely my skill was rising, and people told me it was.. and it felt so damn good to hear it.
And then I thought to myself "What If I can make such a giant jump they would be shocked".. and so it began.. the map rigging. Now, not only did I use it for my own race: Terran, I used it for zerg and protoss... I was really getting bad now.
I bragged and boasted of my wins over top foreigners when I did use it vs them, an example would be vs the Foreign Terran ProGamer(?) IdrA, in which he helped open my eyes too, he showed me by defying my cheats, he put up a 50 minute fight vs my cheats and almost beat me, this showed me that I had yet to learn of the level of play he showed me, IMO that rep should have been a RR @ GG.net for IdrA's play vs a super cheat.
But that is avoiding the topic why I am writing here today, I am writing to apologize to the community as a whole. What I did was completly fucked up.
Not only did I promise to stop using the rigged maps.. I eventually fell prey to them again.. and it was wrong, I lost what I thought and still do feel was the best foreign training I had ever had in my entire career of starcraft. And I am deeply sorry to the betrayal/backstab of all of [Media] and ToT)Incontrol( and all of [FARM] team.. I didn't realize what I had, but now I do.
It's like a neverending nightmare, the fucking lack of responsibility and the ungrateful actions I took can not be forgotten, and I will to live with them for the rest of my SC career and even SC2 if it comes to it. However, I do believe redemption is an ability, and I will fight forever to achieve it.
People think this game is just a game to me.. its not. I have given up friendships and other hobbies I used to do, to invest all my time into this game to the best of my ability, of course I still have my girlfriend, but thats only 1 thing I put before this.
I would not suggest cheating to any player, and I know what I did was morally wrong and fucking deceptive. I fucked up, not once but twice. I ruined trust with friends and just my reputation as a whole. I was wrong in this whole doing, and I take full responbility for my actions and cheating ways.
I thought I'd never get good..unless I cheated to get big, then would play fair to get good.. but it didn't work. I now know I'm a pathetic pitiful person at this current time, and generally am hated by the whole. But that's fine.. I will continue to push forward, and will FUCKING PROMISE and fucking quote it from here at TeamLiquid.Net, LaStShAdOw will not cheat ever again. I will make sure to use this apology as a reminder and the [G]Lastshadow map rigging thread as a fighting way to push forward.
Eventually players started to open my eyes, and I am forever grateful to them.

I would like to severely apologize to Chill and zulu_nation8 for using the rigged maps vs them in casual hamachi games. I got beat pretty bad too :p, they are the better players in those matchups.
Also, I would like to apologize to any players I have bad manner'd out of anger and or angst. I was probably upset, and did not mean to offend you.
Also, any players I have used the rigged maps against, I would like to apologize, and state that in fact you were probably better than me if I opted to use them. So I am sorry for the cheating there.
However the greatest apology I owe, is to TeamLiquid.Net, for putting up with my bullshit BM for so long, and my arrogance, I took advantage of it, and that was also wrong.
I am very sorry to any players I have insulted or anything like that, especially Chill and zulu_nation8.
I would like to state however, that my Guides were in fact based off of fair plays  , not the rigged maps, and that they were intended to help the struggling Terran, since over at GG.net people were complaing of T's never winning PvT anymore.
I am very fucking sorry to everyone that this has caused problems to, and well.. I can't do much else except say I will strive to do much better on the playing field, and without further adue, no more bad manner or arrogance / cheating.

And the disconnects from WGT where not all intentional, none were, and I even openly admitted to 2 of them that I typed out GG and left, but it showed Disc?
I'm pitiful as it is for what I did.. my exaggerations.. my cheating.. my abusing, all wrong, and I will not deny it, and now when I look back on it, I kind of laugh at the fact that I needed them to win, hopefully I'll be able to redeem myself through some ladder or something.

Well, you seem slightly humbled from before, you still can't avoid a bit of story telling about your exploits though (and then played this guy, and beat that dude). 
Not that it bothers me, but it while some of the post seems quite humble, that kind of talk is what pissed off lots of other TL'ers.

The only maps I was ever able to break into were Blade Storm ; Azalea ; Gaia ; Tau Cross.

I've seen screenshots of you playing within the last week, making up more lies (confirmed to be lies by the people you name) to try to get on people's good sides.
This is what you are, a fucking snake. You do whatever is required of you to get people's opinion of you boosted at that specific time. If that requires telling them you beat so-and-so, so be it. If that requires you saying you've been reaccepted by a community, so be it. If that requires you cheating to get a reply of you beating a top player, so be it.
You (somehow) had the top tier Americans helping you play (something to be somewhat jealous of), and you threw it away so you can give fake replays to your fans.
Yea, I'm probably overreacting. As someone who put in some effort to get myself and my team to the top tier at once point, it was hard. Yes, we could have cheated along the way, but we played every match legitimately. And after all, in this community where many of us haven't met each other in person, we have to trust one another to function as a community. Pulling this shit, time after time, against top players is unfathomable.
This doesn't redeem anything in my eyes, but I've always been one slow to forgive.

Don't you get it? You don't even get to mention your wins any more, especially not in such a patronizing way. I can't speak for IdrA, but I'd be pretty pissed at having a replay of my losing to someone half my skill level published, even if it was made clear that his opponent was hacking.

In closing, I don't intend this so much as a flame as simply pointing out that you're still the same arrogant, self-delusional dipshit that you were all along. The fact that you've stopped cheating (and for what it's worth, I believe it) doesn't change that. I'd really love to see your attitude change, as your type is all too common in competitive gaming and I dislike it intensely. Your post, however, clearly shows that the only thing that's changed is your situation.

I am sorry to say, you still have a looooong way to go before returning back to TL. I suggest you just lurk here and NEVER post for at least 1 year! I can't see a section that could benefit from your postings at all: NONE, even if there was a section named "I am a hacker and I confess". Because you do not! Sorry again, just my advise to you for yourself.

I bet if everyone forgave him he would be back to map hacking within a day anyways. You can see by what he's written, in the back of his mind he's still full of himself and is just playing a game so he can get back on TLnet. Maybe one day he'll grow up, but he's not mature enough in my opinion to somehow be a center piece of the community, despite how badly he wants it.

Apologies are where it starts. But you write like a 10 year old, seriously I'd recommend talking with someone as you write these and getting help editing it that way it doesn't look so bad.

If i were you i would just do what evan did. Make an id and show us with your actions not your words. No need for a public apology. You make it seem like we care. And if you're gonna do an apology make it more simple not an essay. I think you need a break from sc seriously.

I think you guys should at least give him a chance now, with that long an apology I think theres a reasonable chance he actually will change. I'd also recommend not nit picking at his apology, I dont think his english is that great and he might inadvertently be coming off as arrogant or w/e. The gist of his post, to me, is that he admits he was completely wrong with his cheating/bm and will now make a solid effort to change himself.

Sometimes people just like press, be it negative or positive, and will say anything to get it.
I think this apology is a joke. A planned and calculated move to keep his threads in the top 5. Let's face it, this guy is a below-average gamer, whose only notoriety came as a result of a strategy post that turned into a TL inside joke. Nobody cares except that by reading and commenting, they feel slightly more comfortable with themselves.
TL loves drama though, and as much as LS is apologizing, I guarantee he refreshed that thread about his map rigging a thousand times. Guys like him like to see their name in print. Even the original title of his apology "The apology..." was designed to make it sound like a sequel.
If you want my opinion (not that it is anything special), I would say throw him under the bus and move on. He isn't worth "rebuilding", because he will never look to contribute to the community other than to inflate his own persona.

I have two questions for you LastShadow:
1) Is it possible nowadays to rig non-ums maps? I have personally never used the campaign editor so I wouldn't know. I remember back in the day some players would tinker with shit but you could always tell since the maps were UMS mode.
2) Why in God's name would you REDUCE the hit points of your marines?

Though I probably do not completely know everything about this situation, I can put some input into your apology.
It is not a complete full-fledged apology. Why not? You start off by blaming someone else for your bad manner. You give excuses (you can argue they are reasons but in reality they are just excuses) for your actions. Be a man and just say, "I was wrong. There are no excuses for my actions."
The general tone is not apologetic, but still sort of proud. You try to build yourself up and try to make your apology more credible. Perhaps your logic was if people think I'm a good player, they will accept my apology. Probably the best way to go about this is humility, not pride.
All in all, I guess it takes guts to write an apology after the horrific things you did to the community. However, although I am a Christian, I am a Christian at TL.net where saying sorry at TL.net does not immediately abolish any punishment. Especially because true sincerity is not easily viable over the web.
I for one advocate forgiveness, naturally, but after this half-assed apology it's hard to tell how many hearts you will win over. Perhaps FakeSteve. The best course of action I would say is to humbly lay low and show us your apology through your ACTIONS. You will most likely have labeled the ID LastShadow as a cheater for eternity. Be mannered in everything you do. If somebody calls you a cheater, suck it up, apologize again and again. You will have to reap what you have sowed.
Or you can take the easy way out and create a new ID. The admins and staff will probably know it's still you but will probably not disclose it to TL unless it's deserved.

If sc2 release wouldn't be so near I would suggest you to start again, because the only way in which you could get our forgiveness is by proving day after day that you're humble and your games ar clean, and by carrying the burden of your past for a long enough time for us to forgive you. But i think that as of now you'd better drop it.
