i've recently had a new computer built and upon installing games (or large files in general) i've come across a rather large problem.
when installing LARGE games (large meaning size), a problem comes up during installation that says a file is corrupt, blah blah. so far this has happened when installing WoW, wc3, adobe acrobat reader, all other mmorpg's, basically everything but starcraft =\. but windows runs perfectly fine, so what could the problem be? everything in the computer is brand new so i've already ruled out hardware. could the problem be within the drivers?
COMPUTER SPECS
AMD 64 X2 4600+
2 GB RAM
WDC 250GB HD SATA-II
2x NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600GT
NVIDIA 5 series SLI motherboard (570 or 590 can't remember atm)
OS : windows xp professional w/ sp2
also another problem is with some games that manage to successfully install, they crash while i'm playing with an error. all cd's i use to install are brand new and perfect condition.

The games you have are all original copies???
You should also if necessary just totally reinstall your OS and just wipe out everything. Hopefully that will work. Or just reinstall drivers.
It'd be good to know what computer specs are.

Did you format the harddrive to fat32 or ntfs?
I think fat32 has problems with files larger than 4gb but I could be wrong.

Is your cd-rom drive dvd playable? Nowadays, some pc games are in dvd disks.

It is most likely your RAM. If you have two sticks take one out, try to install, then swap out the other and try with that. RAM can have errors that only happen occassionally as you are not actually using the RAM at 100% when running windows, playing SC, or almost any other non-benchmarking program. Only benchmarking programs can actually stress the components of your computer to 100%.
Are you getting any blue screens of death? Any other errors other than corrupt file? Saying a paging error? Or subsequent memory dump? Anyway, it really sounds like the RAM. Luckily, DDR2 costs like $30 per GB. Just get a new GB of RAM to replace the bad one.
To test either just RAM, CPU, or both together you can run a program called orthos. I suggest you test just RAM first. It can take up to 8 hours to find an error, but if the RAM is really messed up then it will probably just take an hour or even less.

Are you sure it's big files? Maybe uhh ... all the files you try to install are all corrupted?

my cd/dvd drive is dvd capable so that's not the problem, but ram i dont know, it could be a possibility so i guess i'll have it checked. i dont receive any other errors, only when installing a file will be "corrupt" during installation, and it ruins the entire installation. i dont think it's relaly for "big" files, but for lengthy installations, i'm 100% sure to get a corrupt file.
ANOTHER case is if i download a large installer online, there will be something corrupt with the downloaded file ><

Download orthos and run it right now. and knowing what hardware/software you have would never be a bad thing either...
