Does someone know if TB gets a percentage of the sales of his announcer pack? I have never bought one of those announcers but I’ll gladly do it this time to support him.

That was hard to read . Thanks for everything you did and are doing for sc2 TB! I will definitely buy the TB announcer, it's nice to know that his legend will always be part of sc2.

All the best to TB and his family, I hope they will be able enjoy life to the fullest despite the circumstances. And who knows, miracles do happen. TB fighting!
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

TB's tenacity is impressive. Let's hope he can spend his remaining time without too much pain.

This should encourage people to get regular checkups.

This really teared me up, TB has been my favorite games critic for a long while and I've watched most of his content for years. Even though I don't know him it feels like he's a rather big part of my free time, I have been listening to the cooptionals in the car on the way to and from work half a year now too.

Well wishes to him and his family, I really hope TB gets to spend his time as well as possible.

At Blizzcon I waited in line for four hours for the chance to meet Totalbiscuit. I missed quite a few matches of the Blizzcon finals to do so, and the Blizzcon finals were the only reason I had traveled to be there.

When I met him he called me a dick. And it was awesome.

Thanks for being someone worth looking up to, TB. You've been an inspiration for working hard, never giving up, and fighting for what you believe in. You taught me a lot over the years just by being yourself and providing an example of how to live a good life.

OMG. I discovered TB only when he made his "I suck at Starcraft 2" series, but watched some of his content later. Even though Starcraft 2 is just one of many of his games, he made an impact with his casting, his various tournaments, and the Axiom team.

Having to read terrible news is heart breaking.

I'm tearing up reading the post. It is really sadden me to see such an unfortunate event happens to TB's family.

I gain a whole new level of respect for TB with the candidness and positivity from his post. I can't imagine how hard it is to think everything clearly in such a difficult time like this. My heart goes out to him and his family. All the best to them.

Stay strong!

I remember doubting TB the moment he started moving into the SC2 scene. Did he really have passion? I think it's safe to say that he proved me wrong over and over and over. His work ethics, his commitment to the Axiom players, as well as his courageous fight with cancer became a source of inspiration for me over the years.

Inspiration. The word gets thrown around a lot, but TB really embodies that for me.

... I know it's a stupid (or maybe naive) but I just always assumed he'd pull through in the end. Truly saddened to read this, I'm not sure what to say.

I still hope I'll be reading about a miracle recovery in a few months...

Been watching TB content for longer than I can remember, even back during his WoW raid guides around like 2009??

I'm heartbroken about the most recent news. I cannot imagine this happening to anyone and feel terrible that he has to suffer like this, but hope that the rest of his time can be enjoyable with his family and not have to worry about too many deadlines and stress. He alone changed my perspective on how I look at games and how I personally critique and analyze media, and has been a cornerstone in the gaming industry, especially Starcraft. No one in the general gaming industry has carried the flag for Starcraft like TB has, always wearing his SC2 hat on the Co-Optional podcast weekly and even on the H3 Podcast, running Axiom, and just being a very influential figure in our scene and in the gaming sphere overall.

The industry will hurt when he is gone. I don't think anyone will fill the void that he leaves behind, but hopefully one day we can look back on him and remember someone who changed the landscape of game criticism and consumer rights in gaming permanently.

I wish him the easiest of journeys going forward, and hope that a miracle can come true for him. My well wishes to him, Genna, and his family through this time.
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

Hopefully the mods haven't kept TB from teamliquid.net.

TB, you're so incredibly strong (or maybe stubborn). You are an inspiration for everyone.
I can't think of a more respected individual in the gaming community. You've done so much with such integrity.

“We did not ask for this room or this music. We were invited in. Therefore, because the dark surrounds us, let us turn our faces to the light. Let us endure hardship to be grateful for plenty. We have been given pain to be astounded by joy. We have been given life to deny death. We did not ask for this room or this music. But because we are here, let us dance.”

Pretty tough getting through those few paragraphs. Difficult to read for a lot of reasons. All my love to John and his family <3

Lost my best friend to this f***ing disease (leukemia) in 2004, he was only 23. He was like a brother to me, his sister is the love of my life and we've been together for 16 years this spring. We've vowed to never marry, because it'd hurt too much without him being there....so...this hits home...
TB is a pioneer, his videos and passion helped shaping, what would ultimately become Youtube gaming, years before let's plays were even a thing.
I can't even imagine Youtube and Twitch without him... been watching the podcast ever since tgs and his WTF series for years.
I'm in shock and heartbroken over this...

It has been a pleasure getting to know you and learning more about what you love. Thank you for Axiom, thank you for Shoutcraft, thank you for your casting ability. Much love and blessings.

I can honestly say there has never been as great of a supporter of Starcraft 2 than TB. I remember all the great things he did, both while the scene was running large and when it was running out of steam. I've always respected and admired his management ethics while running his team, and I truly think we will never have such a passionate pioneer again; a man who kept his principals and loved this scene.
My thanks to you for the years, and I wish only the best for you, however long that may be.

I'm sorry and sad to have read this news . Best to TB and family. Keep Hwaiting if that's what you want but I'm glad to see quality of life mentioned, as it can be more important than quantity sometimes, especially with all the side effects of chemotherapy.

Apologies if this is too soon but I think a memorial/legacy Shoutcraft kings tournament would be a fitting way to pay respect for TB's massive contributions to SC2 and to create and perpetuate his legacy within the scene. Would be cool if TB got to see the first one.

I would be willing to contribute $100 each year for 5 years (or as long as high-level competitive starcraft continues, whichever is shorter).

Even if it was just a one-off thing, I think there would be enough community support to amass a decent enough prize pool. When I think about pros/casters/community+/-blizz all coming together for someone like TB gives me chills, the feels are real .

My God. Life can be such an endless chasm of sorrow. What a fucking hero this guy is for what he's done for the Starcraft community over the years and how he's dealt with his harrowing circumstances with grace and dignity. Thank you for everything you've done and for you being you Total Biscuit.

even his harshest critics must agree that he loved the Starcraft franchise and the RTS genre. he showed his love of the franchise and the genre... not through his words... but through his actions.

every day TB is unable to participate in the SC community due to health reasons is a loss for the community.

to everyone thinking of buying the announcer pack or a t-shirt (since he prefers selling stuff over receiving donations): If I understood correctly the t-shirts have the largest margin by far and will therefore get TB and his family the largest share of the money.

To the man in the gold trunks...TB. Fantastic person. Everyone has to go, but he has to know he has a huge amount of people who he has affected positively in life and that has to mean something.

Gutting. Did a ton for the community and has so much to be proud of in what he's built and done already. What grace in that note. Wishing and hoping for the best.

God damn it, this teared up my eyes hard.
TB's been one of the people that has made me grow from a small boy to a man, i've been watching him for nearly 10 years now, ever since Blue Plz.
Sad to see such a fighter go, but he will never be forgotten.
All the love to TB and his loved ones <3

This feels terrible. I wish i could put into words how sad this is. I can't even imagine being in TotalBiscuit or Genna's shoes.

It's tragic that they're going through this. I hope Totalbiscuit is comfortable and happy.

I still clearly remember the first moment I was introduced to TotalBiscuit (in 2010). I watched this video:

My name is TotalBiscuit, and I suck at Starcraft 2

There aren't many community members I can say that about. You are a pillar of the starcraft community forever (not to mention your feats in other esports).

Yep, this.

It's a good way to give back imo. Obviously, he's not asking for charity, but the last thing TB should worry about right now is f*cking money.

Since it comes up quite a bit yes, I'm also retired from casting SC2. However, I am working on a solution to allow Shoutcraft Kings to continue, under the ownership and operation of a group of people I trust.

Let it be known I cast until physically unable to do so, go tell the peoploe in 2010 that accused me of being in it for the money, they fucked up.

I was never a big fan or anything (I did not follow that much because well, there are other streamers and as a french Ogaming) but this is sad indeed for the man and for the community, this person is very passionate and dedicated about the game and so is very precious.
+ the shoutcraft tournaments are amazing.
Good job and thanks for your work TB !

Thx for everything TB. I hope we can get togheter and make something happen before you go. You are a fucking legend and I hope you will be remembered like one. Just reading your tweet about keeping Shoutcraft Kings going gives me nerdchills. I hope you can skim through this thread to get some of the e-love the community has for you man. I just don't understand, that there is a person this awesome, it makes you think that there actually are people worth looking up to.

In such a dire situation as he is in to think about how to continue shoutcraft and putting your energy and time into that is just incredible. It just shows how important it is to him that his creations lives on to entertain us, its just so selfless.

His goal is to provide for his family in whatever way he can, not entertaining people. The solution he speaks of will absolutely entail financial considerations. That's perfectly understandable and laudable, but it isn't selfless.

It hurt to hear that, i remember watching his first video were he explained his cancer, things were not looking good from the beggining. Despite all of that, he fought cancer whit determination and dignity, producing content and working for his family under those harsh conditions. I want to thank you for everything you did for this community, good luck Sir.

I really look up to TB, not only for his contributions to the SC scene, but gaming in general. With so much consumerist nonsense and fanboyism going about, he is --for me at last-- the voice of reason, the guy to convince me to give up only pirating stuff and rather support the games&business practices I enjoy&want to see more of, while avoiding others completely. Critique not for its own sake, but for addressing and shaping things going forward.

Just because it's games, it doesn't mean it's not an industry (with bad sides to address); just because it's 'games', things don't have to be childish and aesthetically appalling in a broader sense. Having a spine, being coherent, consistent and a stand-up person seems such a rare quality lately (publicly at least). I am totally in awe of his body of work, his professionalism and now also his personal composure.

On that note, all the best wishes to you John & family.

I'll miss you beautiful bastard.

Thank you for everything TB, I'm glad to have been along for the ride since early on with all its ups, downs and rough edges. You are, and will remain, the first and most prominent person of our time when it comes to video game criticism and you set the bar incredibly high for anyone who came and will come afterwards.

Even when I ignore the work you did in other areas there is enough to cherish in that context alone. There is enough around to cherish for everyone in all kinds of areas because you've just been so damn productive.

If that's not a sign of having done an amazing job consistently over years then I don't know what is.

Or, as someone else just put it:
