Hokay.
Perhaps I'll do some Darkest Dungeon then.

What's the earliest people would be able to start in future weeks? (fyi, our current start time is 8:30 CST)

The benefit to starting earlier would be to get more in per session, so we'd be playing until as late as before (in my mind). However if we don't want to do that's also fine. Keeps a burden of even more prep off of me. Oh I didn't think the idea was to play marathon 5h sessions. That's a little bit much for people isn't it?

Well, that's partially what I wanted to find out. On the one hand, that's a lot of game to play, maybe even worth spreading the game out to 1 session per 2 weeks. On the other hand, that might mean that each session "ends" a quest (or at least gets closer to an ending), meaning that there'd be some cleaner breaks in the storyline which we could use to do side stories or mini-quests on weeks where not everyone is around.

That might not be the worst idea...? It's hard to wrap up an entire sub-quest even in 5h though. If you think about it, I don't think any of our dungeon crawls or anything would have been completed in one session as opposed to two or three though with this change. I think the way we've been doing things has been pretty nice overall, though I do like the idea of more DnD in general. I'm up for whatever everyone else decides though I imagine consensus will be just to keep the status quo.

Thanks to all for a good one. A good one in which the MYSTERIES CONTINUE (read: PROLIFERATE).

I think the real answer is to stop calling my fights EZ. <3 I was thinking about today about how my perfect fight would essentially be a dead boss, two unconscious party members, three party members at single digit health, and no remaining spell slots/other class resources. It's just about how far I need to push that envelope to get there. I'll start by depleting resources BEFORE you get to the boss. Just means I have to figure out a way around your Tiny Hut of GM Annoyance.

It's just about how far I need to push that envelope to get there. I'll start by depleting resources BEFORE you get to the boss. Just means I have to figure out a way around your Tiny Hut of GM Annoyance. I suppose I have to stop trying to compare everything to Critical Role but it's the only other DnD game I know, so... They have 8 party members so the point of comparison also doesn't seem to be that good, but in any case they have a LOT of tools amongst themselves to get around encounters in intelligent ways, but since they are in majority physical DPS dealers they just spend rounds mostly attacking and not worrying about spell slots like us. If you deplete our resources before we get to a boss (which doesn't seem necessarily unfair or anything, just depends on the scenario and how we deal with it) we're going to be fairly helpless. We actually got to that point last night---if that fight had gone on maybe two more rounds or summoned one or two more of those dudes, we were rightly fucked. I was thinking about today about how my perfect fight would essentially be a dead boss, two unconscious party members, three party members at single digit health, and no remaining spell slots/other class resources. This was essentially as you had described it really.
