Surprised there isn't more options for Diablo 3 in the poll (personally? Couldnt' care less - don't really like the beta) - I figure the answer is obvious here though - if you log in to ANY battlenet account now, it says the beta is coming soon, so it's going open for everyone.
Very unlikely to be Starcraft news.

I'm guessing they'll announce the HOTS Beta, but that might very well just be wishful thinking.

They wouldn't hype bad news.
My prediction: HotS Beta to start in 2-3 months, and to run for a several more months in prep for a Q1 2013 or maybe a Q4 2012 release.

would be awesome if some blizz guy was to make the official announcement on the iem stage. then again, today the main stage is exclusively showing lol. so i guess our best bet is to check blizz's sc2 blog.
having been disaapointed by the blizzard announcements numerous times now, im gonna say that the new info is gonna be sth like new screenshots, wallpapers or a hots battle report (if we're lucky).

I find this quite likely.
They said the will release AT LEAST 2 games in 2012, well no doubt those are going to be D3 and Pandaria.
They still could aim for a Q4 Release of HotS. Having it released around christmas for sure could be something they aim for.
But yeah, they would announce something for today and in the end just say "yeah so just you know, no HotS this year. cya"

currently 3:30 am at blizzard HQ. I would guess the announcement will come around the middle of the work day so around noon pst. That would give 8 1/2 hours o.o
