In a move adding up to an already stacked series of developments for our team, Team AZK and the Korean gaming clan "Legend Of" (Lof) has agreed to a partnership.
There have been partnerships between proteams before, but this marks one of the few times that a sponsored progaming team has come to an arrangement with a clan. This mutual partnership seeks benefit for both parties, with Team AZK learning what they can from the Koreans' famed prowess in gaming and both parties having a clearer channel of communication to and fro between the team and the Korean community.
Lof has existed for about a decade, starting off as a WarCraft III clan. It was founded by players such as Fov, Storm, Lyn, Way, Violet, and many others. This move for cooperation between the two organizations is promised to be a fruitful one, further strengthening ties between Filipino and Korean gaming communities.
Team AZK is glad to cooperate with Lof as they move on forward towards expansion of their efforts in making eSports bigger in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia.

I know team AZK has had its reputation destroyed now but to Lof's credit, this may have been before the big drama came out.
yeah ... about 24 hours before all the shit started to hit the fan
I'm just saying Lof may not have known this stuff was going on if they didn't have people over at the event. I know I had no idea until it all came on to TL.
Give them benefit of the doubt for now. Hopefully the deal fell through? There really isn't a lot of information on it here.

Yes, it seems Lof is completely ignorant. What a sad, sad day. I hope this breaks off fairly swiftly.
Nope, Flash is the best player of all time and sAviOr is selfish and corrupted just like how Gus is. Can't believe people still stick up for sAviOr after dealing a huge blow to BW.

I think that was the joke, considering that Gus is considered to be an absolute dickhead by the majority of the TL community.
He could mean sAviOr of eSports...
Clever...
Not Clever at all.... That's a complete insult to sAviOr, the best SC:BW player of all time.

Sorry but Flash isn't the best player of all time over sAviOr. His negative actions don't reflect his gameplay. Nobody talked about his contributions to the game as an eSports. The only comment that was made was about his talent and results. Flash is the best player right now, but he doesn't surpass sAviOr. The contributions and games that he gave the the sc:bw community were by far the best in bw history, regardless of the mistakes he made in the past. He helped swindle money, and was banned from bw for it, but that was after providing the best contributions to sc:bw of all time. Flash is just solid and better than everyone that plays the game today.

Well, this is kind of really off topic, but "at least" sAviOr "only" scammed his fans who did something illegal in the first place (i.e. betting on the games). Anyways, either Team AZK throws out Gus asap with a clean message how the team thinks of what he has done, or I hope Lof makes a run for the hills. I wonder how much time has to pass till any of this happens though.
btw. just wanted to add that savior was properly prosecuted and got his sentence for the shit he did.
As long as that Gus-guy is still part of your organization, I will do everything I can to avoid supporting you. LoF should seriously reconsidder this arrangement
sAviOr as a PLAYER is the best of all time imho. The way he changed the game and his strategy.... has not been surpassed.
Flash is just a perfectly solid player and better than everyone else aside from maybe JD, sometimes. Not taking anything away from Flash, but I think sAviOr is better.
Damn sAviOr, y u scandal... I wish you were still playing =(
edit: this thread shouldnt be about savior vs gus lol, i think we all know just how bad what savior did was. as bad as it sounds, gus only set back the SEA scene, not ALL OF ESPORTS scene.
LoF better run outta this asap, but isn't AZK essentially disbanded anyway?
continuing the OT: While savior did things that damages e-sports on a larger scale than gus, he at least contributed plenty as well as a bonjwa and leader of the zergs for a long time before the scandals.
What gus did may be on a smaller scale, but as far as I know, he has contributed less than savior as well. If we look at the ratio of bad things done divided by good things done, maybe gus and savior are comparable? gus maybe is like a mini-savior, or savior wanna-be? I have no idea how much gus contributed in that clan before this drama came out though.
so, is it okay to continue the ot? then I might as well add my own opinion.
The reason why the damage savior created was "on a larger scale" than what gus did is mainly because of two reasons: 1) he was one of the broodwar heroes that were literally worshiped 2) the korean culture, in which starcraft is a legitimate sport, is more sensible to stuff like this
I'm not trying to defend savior or anything like that, but objectively speaking, gus did worse things than he did (scamming the innocent vs scamming people who did something illegal in the first place), it's just that the circumstance that blew the affair around savior so big comparet to gus, who might even go away legally unharmed.

Last report from TheGunRun is that he and Amanda still haven't been paid back. Whether Gus was intentionally fraudulent or just a complete moron, the guy running your team fucked things up really bad and still hasn't even fully explained everything. Are you guys still a team? Guy posting before you says you're disbanded. If you are still a team, is Gus still in charge? If he is, can you understand why people think that partnering with your team is a horrible idea right now? You can't expect support until you fix things or disassociate yourself from Gus.
I wasn't looking for support, I'm just sick of every no name random commenting on the issue, when they know absolutely nothing, they're just hopping on the bandwagon because it's what everyone else is doing. There's no actual `proof` of fraudulent behavior yet, and until there is lay off it, honestly. Gus has been super busy as he also has a full time job to attend to (that has crazy hours), and has restricted his availability. Until everything is finished, there's absolutely no reason to give anyone "updates" on what's happening. The only people that matter to it are the sponsors and staff of the event, no random scrub from the community that derps along with everyone else, and their stupid rumors. Sure, there was a few things that happened (With YJY, and Team Cube players), and they will all be explained fully once the more important things are chased up.
Until then, lay off.

Given the immense fallout and irreparable damage to your organization's reputation this entire event is having, if there is another side to this story, I'm actually pretty surprised that you aren't placing a higher priority on damage control. I doubt anyone is going to feel "pathetic" even if this all turns out to be sensationalism. In fact, I'm sure most of us would be happy if that were the case considering the implications the alternative would have for lots of innocent people.
At any rate, I look forward to hearing an official statement from your organization regarding all of the controversy along with a clear plan for what changes you plan to implement in the future to prevent this kind of thing from ever happening again. I do hope this is all being blown out of proportion and that people aren't on the hook for large sums of money or looking at prospective prison time, but with the silence from your side, I don't think you can fault people for suspecting otherwise since all of the statements from sources involved released so far seem to point directly in that direction.

He's not Gus, but apparently he knows what went down 'behind the scenes'. What's confusing about his post is how he's insulting the people who weren't involved in the incident, saying they're 'no name randoms' (that pretty much translates to 'scrubs'), hopping on a bandwagon. So, by his logic, people who don't actually know what went down shouldn't talk at all. Yet he requested several times to speak on State of the Game about the issue. From that I can assume that he's NOT a 'no name random', and he's definitely NOT someone who just wanted to get on State of the Game to boost his fame, and that he actually knows what went down. Are you delusional? Nobody is hopping on the bandwagon because that's what everyone is doing - it is more like everyone is outraged at the whole mess and voicing their frustration with that. The accusations are not made out of thin air, which is what you get when you read the various threads, but coming from people involved.
Saying that only sponsors and staff matter is simply wrong because sponsors usually expect something in return for their money and it sure as hell is not bad press, community outrage and failure to organize an event properly (ask IPL...). Thus by ignoring the concerns of the community, you are shooting yourself in the foot.
Everybody is eagerly awaiting a detailed response and explanation of Gus about whole ordeal and I'd wager the chances of a "truth" coming out making people look pathetic are slim to none.

So... why haven't you commented on your own accord? Clear some shit up? No offense, but I'm pretty sure I'm makin' sense here. Or is there something else?

I would be happy to be made to look like a pathetic scrub. Just please give the girl her money and don't ruin her life.
Also insulting the teamliquid community for trying to stand up for the community its self and the people part of it is really foolish of you. We just want things resolved and right now Gus/AZK looks terrible in this entire situation and there is some girl whos life could be ruined because of the things you did. We are not idiots jumping on a bandwagon, we are trying to protect what we love and those who we care about.

How stupid do you have to be, to call Nazgul "no-name random." Even if you never heard of the team/site owner, you should at least noticed that Liquid' tag.
If AZKziek isn't Gus, I am even more worried about Team AZK. Two fools under one roof can't be an coincidence.

This yes... I thought surely Gus was the only AZK member involved but this ziek person makes me think otherwise. I don't see how anyone, no matter what their relationship with Gus can support him now.
Also, pretty funny that he calls people "random no-names" when that's essentially what his clan is... a bunch of random no-names. Get over yourself buddy, no-one even knew about your little clan until you somehow conned sickness into joining.

Yup I was pretty much going to say this in addition to saying that he does not understand PR. I guess he has no interest in making his team look good in any way by insulting everyone here, so it will be even more difficult to get support for them if this all blows over. If Gus does pay everyone, and then he is no longer associated with the team, we can still see the management is not very respectful to the people who eagerly want to make sure things go right since we all enjoy eSports. Meh.

Basing the entire AZK Team off of an event that has no solid proof that there was any fraudulent behavior. Your support is truly breathtaking.

Oh boy. Looks like Gus wasn't the only one behind this mess.
For the past week or so, all Gus has been doing is repeating "There's two sides to a story" like a parrot. Actually, he did have time to write his grand "Thank you A,B,C,D,E,F, and we'll do better next time!" apology, he did have time to get "wasted by tasteless, daym", and apparently he did have enough time to go on Inside of the Game but most unfortunately his mic decided to go MIA. I highly doubt that whatever job Gus Ledesma has, it can possibly keep him from taking 15 minutes of his time to explain himself during the span of a week. He's been intentionally skirting around the issue as much as possible. Amanda/Clive/TheGunRun and his PPSL staff still haven't been paid. There is still zero believable excuse for what he did to YJY and Team Cube.

Never heard? They were pretty big in WC3 and they were the guys who gave us polt so there may be something to them in SC2 I just hope they avoid the taint from Gus.
Lof just tied a boulder around their neck and jumped into a pool. Remember, Team AZK did not just screw over the SC2 scene, do not forget Honslaught, where HON players flew to the tournament to find out that there was no tournament. AZK did not just hurt SC2, it hurt HON and all of Esports.
Maybe someone should message Polt and ask him to warn his old clan of any shenanigans from AZK's side.
Okay, kidding aside, AZK's players aren't to blame. Too bad its management is so terrible, though, and having ziek in its line-up is, uhhhh, not that great for public relations. Lof should just get out and run for now.

Excellent. Glad to see them informed about the situation, at the very least.
Getting kind of tired of this Gus this Gus that bullshit every thread. The community's bandwagon rage is starting to remind me of soccer hooligans picking fights after every match and pretending it's for the good of their team/ sport. Obviously the guy has made big mistakes, but no need to pretend a guy who's involved enough with the community to organise a tournament is some sort of antichrist.
There's a difference between fans and anti-fans. Fans are supportive, anti-fans just flame and hate everything they don't like. So maybe if you're a fan of eSports and you weren't actually shadowing Gus in the Philippines for the last month or so, you should wait until you have more information than hearsay to make a judgement. Maybe accept that people make mistakes and that they'll face the consequences without needing you to tell him you hate him like he smothered a box full of kittens in front of your eyes. Stop pretending hating Gus makes you a supporter of eSports, it just makes you a person who hates people that make mistakes.

Maybe accept that people make mistakes and that they'll face the consequences without needing you to tell him you hate him like he smothered a box full of kittens in front of your eyes. Stop pretending hating Gus makes you a supporter of eSports, it just makes you a person who hates people that make mistakes.
We really shouldn't have to wait more than 48 hours for the "right" information. Regardless, who are you to tell people how to support the game they love? Let people say and think what they want to think.
are no name randoms. What about the people Gus still hasnt paid? Gunrun, amanda? they are STILL saying that they havent been paid and they dont chat bollocks like you or your buddy.
Gotta say i agree with that two fools comment..seriously stupid. And i cant stop laughing at you getting called out on your internet BM at a lan, how i wish every dick like you would be scared shitless like that.

There are some pretty big mistakes on the line here. Lots of money and even the potential for someone to go to jail because of those mistakes.
If he is too busy to fully devote himself to organizing a tournament properly, he should not have done so to begin with.

Yeah, but you don't really know do you? On one hand Gus might have fled to Switzerland with the money he ripped from ESPORTS' dead hands to avoid a life sentence in Azkaban. Or, you know, maybe he didn't.

Basing the entire AZK Team off of an event that has no solid proof that there was any fraudulent behavior. Your support is truly breathtaking.
Your clan leader falling off the planet and leaving people who helped of their own volition to foot the several thousand dollar hotel bill, and completely ending a hon tournament with cash rewards and prizes not accounted for with no notification of cancellation are two pretty good cases of fraudulent behavior. don't be upset at us. Gus is a scammer and ruined your whole team's name. deal with him or deal with it

You're completely snowballing. His actions did harm eSPORTS, just like the match-fixing scandal in Brood War. This isn't like the NFL, where if an individual has a scandal, it only affects a very small number of people. This particular case not only affected several people directly, it also indirectly affected a portion of the community - in this case, the Philippine eSPORTS scene and the SEA community as a whole. While I agree the incessant hate is disagreeable, it's understandable. People are passionate about this game. People are passionate about eSPORTS. People are passionate about Starcraft. We all want to see our favorites in tournaments, we all want to see MVP vs Nestea on live television casted by Tastosis in our countries' cable if possible. Something like this tarnishes that. It's human nature to respond at a different gradient. Think of a crime gone public - like that judge who beat his daughter for using the internet. What was the public reaction? Did it affect any of those people? Was the personal info of the judge posted on Reddit/YouTube and most community sites? The mass media talks about gaming obsession. They talk about people fainting because they play too long. "Nerds". "Geeks". "Losers". When a news outlet reports about a pro gamer, or the good of eSPORTS, everyone rejoices on Team Liquid. That's fucking passion. So yeah, while I agree that the hate that came out of this was big, it was in no way unwarranted.

He left multiple people footing a rather substantial bill and one person may be jailed because of that. I'm not sure how cute she is, but that's a little more on the smothering kittens side of things than you might be willing to accept.

You're right, I don't know with absolute certainty whether the allegations are true. However, I would think that if the money wasn't an issue, he could come forward and answer them for the community so that we can put this issue to rest. He is not obviously the first person to make a gaffe but the way he is handling this is making himself an easy target to be a public enemy and thus open to criticism and much more.
The anger towards Gus is completely justified. Clearly you know him, and I know from experience that when someone you know well does something terrible you don't see them as a terrible person, you see them as a person that made mistakes. But for those of us that don't know him, what he's done is unacceptable. If he just put on a bad tournament, we'd all say "what an idiot, don't let him run a tournament again." But he's stolen from at least one of his sponsors (S2), promised flights and slots in the tournament to 5 people who he never delivered to and never notified that they wouldn't be going, didn't pay or feed the staff at the event as promised, didn't pay Seltzer or Tasteless' hotel bills, didn't pay for the bill he asked Clive to put on his card, didn't pay for the plane tickets resulting in someone possibly going to jail if the tickets aren't paid by the 21st, didn't pay the guy who ran the stream, AND ran a crappy event, which had to be saved by a group of people that weren't even organizers.
I get that you don't see Gus the way the rest of us do, but you should see that we're not an angry hive mind. Gus really screwed up, worse then anyone has in the history of eSports since that event in vegas back in 2003 or 2004. This is lying, cheating, misleading, mismanaging, stealing, and hanging people who trusted him out to dry. This behavior is atrocious, and if it took part in the states he'd already be in jail. You can't possibly defend him. Stop trying.
AZK zanooku/ziek is the worst person ever to try defend AZK, most bm player ever in sea. ziek, if u feel so much for AZK, you should just leave this team and give the community 1 less reason to hate them. my advice for you, quoting from the rock "KNOW YOUR ROLE AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH"
Just to clarify, no one should be taking AZKziek seriously. He's a little shit from Queensland who annoys people, trolls a bunch and thinks he's actually halfway decent at this game and that he doesn't get to show us because he's banned from all forums that get used to sign people up to events.
I wouldn't bother pissing on his opinions even if they were on fire.
Funny, so the first hand account of someone who was very much involved in the matter and even footed a fraction of the ginormous bill Gus's event racked up somehow isn't evidence of Gus's douchbaggery?
May not be as bad as slamming a bag of kittens into a wall, but I'd say when someone leaves a person with a $12K debt in the dark the least of things they are is an ass. So yeah why didn't Gus immediately contact them? Even just to reassure them that things will be handled?

Terrible opinion man. God awful attitude.
There is no way to be 100% sure about anything in this world. Do you expect people to just sit on their hands and wait for perfect conformation? Thats a ridiculous notion. People get information from multiple sources about this scandal and the main perpetrators are no where to be found for a response to the whole ordeal. This means that its far more believable that all of this outcry is actually legit. But youre talking bullshit like "Yeah, but you dont really know do you?" If everyone thought the way you do nothing would ever get done. Getting mad and demanding answers that we deserve is a much better solution, seeing as AZK doesnt seem to be in any hurry to clear up the situation.
Youre trying to act like the "reasonable grown up" around here but youre just coming off as a whiny pacifist at best or an under-cover AZK fanboy at worst. These aren't anti-fans who are just hating on Gus. These are people whove heard news from multiple people directly affected by Gus's shady behavior. These people youre condescendingly lecturing are just angry that there has not been any reasonable explanation regarding any of the key issues. These "mistakes" youre referring to have such significant potential consequences, and yet you still demand that people sugarcoat their words? Unbelievable.

Should we just be quiet and pray to the Almighty that maybe hell return the car? God forbid we actually get mad about the issue. Oh wait, we dont actually know 100% that my friend's car was actually stolen, maybe she just parked it somewhere, walked 5 miles to a bar, drank herself into a drunken stupor and then forgot about the whole thing and claimed the car to be stolen. In that case, we shouldnt even do anything because we dont even know for sure what even happened!
Oh and dont even bring up bullshit about esports or whatnot. I like esports, but thats not my gripe here. My problem is the idea of innocent, well-meaning people suffering because of the greedy actions of one douchebag. If he clears that all up, Im sure there will be kisses and hugs and apologies all around. But its been a long time without any good explanation, not even a denial or repudiation of the accusations. People are completely justified in their anger at Gus.

He's a little shit from Queensland who annoys people, trolls a bunch and thinks he's actually halfway decent at this game and that he doesn't get to show us because he's banned from all forums that get used to sign people up to events.
I wouldn't bother pissing on his opinions even if they were on fire.
The video of him bitching out when KJH confronts him is pure gold
What a big mistake by Lof. As long as AZK is run by gus, expect more shady behavior. Poor soulds.. hope they change their minds about AZK.
Imo, I will be boycotting anything to do with AZK and gus. Unless some radical management changes aka kicking gus out are made, I dont think AZK deserve any cred.

i'm glad to see that team azk had some direction, but what happened may have been one of the most unfair of incidents relating to e-sports. if any of AZK are here reading, you should know that you'll need to put in a great deal of work if you ever want to be featured in TL.net news again...

to be fair it was the day before the shit hit the fan (or windmill) and apparently Lof is internally reconsidering how to gracefully exit this deal
