That said if you make a dedicated direction on a website to post pictures of very young girls you can pretty much expect public backlash. And whilst it's not pedophile levels i do think it's kind of creepy.

I personally feel like as long as such material is not illegal (the post itself) and people dont gain direct access to it (they are forced to search specifically for it, its not on the homepage or something) then it is okay. I see how people can see it differently though.

That time is puberty -- You get there and it suddenly becomes reality for you. This whole idea of some magic line you cross at age 18 (or any age) is a real problem.. the government has no place in regulating the mating behaviours of people. Children should be protected, absolutely. Teenagers aren't children. In years past, even in north america, you were a man at 15 and you went to war. Young women were wed at similar ages - usually after their first period. A few select countries around the world decided at some point to legally define being an adult at age 18, and then somehow sexual relations became restricted to only adults. Now, I respect everybody's point of view but sexual desire for another human who has completed puberty is not sick. It's instinct. The only way it's wrong is if someone forces the act on another, and I think we can all agree that it doesn't matter what age you are if that happens. so you think people who are fresh out of puberty should have kids (since thats what is having sex for, naturally speaking of course but you opened the door for nature imo) are you deluded or wat

All in all Anderson Coopers' agenda is obvious and well warranted, reddit should not condone such pictures at all and the mods of these threads should be intelligent enough to remove threads that contain such content...Facebook and myspace do it all the time why can't reddit?

This is entirely new and unheard of! Where was all the outrage at these guys calling every tea party member a racist and violent? How about the slandering of news media they dont' like? Oh or about reporters they disagree with? Or the complete sweeping under the rug of stories that could paint the people they like in a bad light? Welcome to how the media works. It's biased, subjective to what you believe in and more then likely is doing it to scare some and make themselves look better. They are going after Reddit because it's the new. They don't like the idea of people taking their viewers or the fact that a majority of Reddit reports on news faster then they do. Which proves just how lackluster a good portion of the traditional media is. He's trying to drag Reddit through the mud simply to make his job look less worthless because most folks are realizing that political pundits are worthless. For the record. I don't use reddit.

Derp. 4chan doesn't endorse its content, it's just an anonymous forum with topics. If someone made a new account on TL and posted child porn in a thread would you link that image with TL, or just call that specific user a nutjob?

Sorry to use such language, but she tries to twist words and facts to benefit her side while trying to sound sweet at the same time. Pisses me off so much. Dude that's her job... shes a prosecutor for a court of law.... yes she will twist every word and movement into something that makes her case stronger that's what they do.

Gore isn't illegal and you get IP banned from 4chan for having Child Pron. Funny how you instantly call out 4chan when you know nothing about the website. I think the slowest they banned somebody for attempting to spread child porn is like 4 minutes? Pretty good for the biggest forum.

Blatant ignorance on his part, really. On September 30 2011 15:08 Tippecanoe wrote: Gore isn't illegal and you get IP banned from 4chan for having Child Pron. Pretty good for the biggest forum. CP has been up for more than 4 minutes in my experience. Whenever I see it I instantly report it and make sure that it gets taken down. There was once a thread that went on for well over 10-15 minutes and I kept on reporting every picture.

Don't just take the word "nature" and invent some dumbass worst-case-scenario argument. No, I think people who are fresh out of puberty should be able to make their own choices, suffer consequences and learn from them. This includes taking pictures of themselves and posting them online. What I don't believe in though, is third parties outside the family trying to manage what they do, how they do it, or who can observe it. Anderson Cooper's angle is basically, "Shouldn't we regulate this?" and the answer is most certainly no. However, he is an expert media manipulator, so he can take something like "internet regulation" and attach it to "pedophilia and child porn", creating a straw man in support of his argument for regulation. And, most people watching televised news won't take the time to actually find out what the website is for themselves.... an attribute televised news frequently exploits. In fact, nobody on /r/jailbait is being hurt, being abused and forced to take these pictures, and they are not being harmed by any observers of these pictures either REGARDLESS of what someone's intent is for looking at them. Those pictures have no identity, no personal information, and for some (not all) of them you can't even tell they were "under 18".. because nature distinguishes for you what is an adult and what is not, you can tell by your own personal reaction to the pictures which ones are ripe and which ones are too young for your tastes. Besides, there's nothing on /r/jailbait that you wouldn't see in a goddamned magazine for teens. Advertisers sell them sex appeal all day and all night and they buy it right up.

To me that's not fear mongering. It's legit to say that having a dedicated subforum for posting underage pictures of girls is creepy. Also he DID, 100% point out that this was only a subforum of an extremely popular site. The OP is simply inaccurate in its claim that AC unfairly characterized Reddit. No, I think people who are fresh out of puberty should be able to make their own choices, suffer consequences and learn from them. This includes taking pictures of themselves and posting them online. This sounds all fine and good, but you need to take into account that you wouldn't buy into this if you had kids and that in the U.S. people under the ages of 18 are not considered adults, regardless of whether you think this is right or fair.
