Actually, the program that targets maphackers targets a specific maphack that has a backdoor: it causes the maphacker to unally himself if he receives a particular message in game or via BNet. So really, it's the maphacking program itself that makes the player unally him/herself. Thus, it is not equally plausible for a program to be able to do this to any innocent person  . | ||

He certainly wasn't a name-spoofer using the Pengiun Plug and looking for maphackers so that when they get caught he can pretend to be c0ke and claim to have a new hack. Think about what you're saying: does anything that any random person says in a random game have any credit or value whatsoever? | ||

It works one way, the maphack that you willingly ran while playing SC has a big door that penguin plug triggers. penguin plug does absolutely nothing more, your hack is what made you auto unally. stop maphacking you newbie faggot | ||

Good point - but he was sitting in the open tech support channel after the game when I confronted him so that rules him out as a name spoofer and/or any 'random person'. | ||

90% of the world population would be maphackers if they played BW. That's just how the common man thinks. They're not on the same level as any of us, being competitive players or die-hard spectators. I know plenty of BW players irl (really bad ones) and they are all blatantly obvious maphackers, none of them bad people in reality. For the casual player I think it's just really frustrating for them not being able to see the map, so turning on a maphack is like a breath of fresh air. But yes, this whole post is indeed quite ironic. | ||

Cyborg, being a maphacker is sort of like being that one asshole you knew in 6th grade that would insist on being the banker and constantly slip himself free cash in Monopoly. It's CHEATING. Here's my advice: Make an abundance of worker units and send 1 out every once in a while, to look at areas of the map for you, rather than maphacking. You'll find that you're given much of the advantages of maphacking, at the cost of a couple of minerals every few minutes. And you get to keep your dignity! | ||
