Such a boring game... Both players decide to play a macro style, skipping reavers completely and just going straight to templar. Anytime is able to get off a nice storm drop early on Reach's natural that Reach never quite fully recovered from. Due to his economic advantage, Anytime takes up a ton of extra bases that Reach can't afford. Reach takes down Anytime's army multiple times, but Anytime is always able to stop Reach's bases from going up. Once Anytime's extra base advantage kicks in, he just runs over Reach with superior macro.
Both players go for a Starport build, with Boxer opting to go for a 1 Port build while Tossgirl goes 2 port. As cloaked wraith wars ensue, Boxer ends up placing better scans than Tossgirl, so he is able to overpower Tossgirl's wraiths... I had to go afk during this game, this is just what I can gather from the LR
Nal_rA is too greedy to place a 2nd cannon that covers his Nexus down, and his first cannon doesn't reach. Savior delays mining at Nal_ra's natural for a long time with his Zerglings and ends up denying Nal_rA his natural gas as well. Then, some uncharacteristically poor play by Nal_rA loses him quite a few high templar. Savior's Mutalisks snipe more HTs. No more high templar for Nal_rA means that his third expansion goes down, and with it, his chance at winning the game.
I'm really looking forward to see how Reach is going to play today, a lot about the recent tossgirl controversy will revolve on his game vs Sashin Anytime...
well recently i suck big time at predictions but i'll try anyway...
reach > anytime boxer < tossgirl - yeah this is no typo. tossgirl will win this, you read it here first. savior > nal_ra - i want nal_ra to win this soooo badly, so if i'm wrong here it's even better.
reach sends out a DT as well. both players are just scouting eachother over and over. reach steps outside his natural. it looks like his is going to take his 3rd at 10 o clock
no one high templar had 5 kills it showed, then another storm went off after that, killing like 5-6, but it went in the shuttle right away and didnt show its kills. together there was about 10ish
It's like.. the ACE guys talked it out and be like "Hey. Let's not fight. Let's make the most passive game ever and be nice to each other. NR 20 mins!? OK."
big battle going on in the same location. anytime has horrible army positioning. great storms going off. anytime falls back to regroup then attacks reachs army. reachs army looks like its winning
Anytime pushes in and takes out Reach's 9, but he's being forced back by Reach's forces! Reach stupidly follows Anytime's forces into the cannons at his 8.
Reach backs off, but now Anytime's macro is probably going to kick into gear.
OH anytime takes out reachs expo at 9 while he is away but reach counters. anytime taking TERRIBLE TERRIBLE DAMAGE(not really)
anytime also begins taking out reachs expo at 10 with the remaining army that went to attack. anytime gets a great storm off and reinforces his defense
Nice game by Anytime, almost looked like Reach was going to comeback. Anytime used the map really well trapping Reach and making him cross bridges to battle. GG
boxer cloaks his first wriath but tossgirl scans and kills it. boxers 2nd wraith comes and kills off the 2wraiths in his main. boxer starts building a CC in his main to expand to hsi nat
tossgirl had built a CC in his main and is now lifting it to her nat. boxer bringing up 3 tanks and an SCV to pressure her by the looks of it. tossgirl pulling SCVs

Boxer just made use of scan (and microed his wraiths) much much better

I guess Boxer is just the direct counter to Tossgirl. He excels in low econ micro battles... but if Tossgirl takes it to late game she won't out-macro him like a lot of gamers. Fucked either way really. Emperor > Empress

Blasphemy! Not even Reach could outmacro the Emperor! GG! Boxer was wise to immediately go for all kinds of detection and anti-air, 2 wraiths don´t snipe SCVs fast enough to prevent. Also his cloak/wraith micro was just made of win, BO/micro loss for TossGirl even if her wraiths would´ve lived he was already so much ahead.
18:55 cptnobvious : i wonder if there is any way for a slumping old progamer to dominate again 18:55 konadora : Win Blizzcon 18:55 konadora : Announce that you will destroy everyone in Year XXXX 18:55 konadora : ??? 18:55 konadora : PROFIT
savior has 2 more hatches down(for a total of 5). it looks like 3hatch spire > 5hatch hydra vs standard corsair scout templar archives protoss. rA is making goons though
Next day: A: If Boxer beats Yellow, Boxer secures first place and Yellow would be tied with the winner of the other match (Anytime vs Tossgirl). If Yellow beats Boxer, Yellow advances to the next round. B: Savior vs Nada defines who's first and second in this group.

Savior once again doing good in a special event. I wouldn't be surprised if he won the whole thing. It's good to see him, Boxer and Yellow do very good. I feel a little sorry for Reach and Anytime, but someone has to be the loser : /
At least I got all three votes correct today. /happy

by advantage in head-to-head, yellow advanced to the next round.

So it's two matches, determining who goes #1 and who goes #2 in each group. If Savior and Nada wanted to, they could throw the match to "pick" Boxer/Yellow.
Sniping HT with Mutalisks? This is some really advanced play. Good for sAviOr!!! I can't wait till the VOD's get uploaded. I'm so glad to hear he won, and not just with an out-macro game, but with some Ling and Muta micro play. GJ Maestro.

I've been wondering. Is it just me, or does Savior play way, way way better in special events than normal leagues? Or does it just seem that way because the opposition might be weaker?

The opposition is weaker for sure. I mean Nal_rA? He hasn't played in a long time. Savior has played, what 3 ZvP:s now as well, a matchup he finds quite easy.

I partly agree on the point that the competition is weaker. Yes, Nada should be the only one to put up a fight because he is an active player (yes, I'm not yet counting Boxer, because he is a special case). But if you think back to last years Blizzcon or WWI for example Savior faced some tougher opponents and played well. So I guess there seems to be some truth behind the idea of Savior performing better at special events.

good point about blizzcon and wwi, maybe his self-confidence gets a boost from foreign events or something
Group A 3-0 BoxeR 2-1 YellOw 1-2 Anytime 1-2 Tossgirl 1-3 Reach
Group B 3-0 sAviOr 3-0 NaDa 2-2 Nal_rA 1-3 Kingdom 0-4 iloveoov
BoxeR v YellOw Anytime v Tossgirl sAviOr v NaDa
If BoxeR wins and Anytime wins, YellOw and Anytime will tie at 2-2. YellOw won their game against one another, so theoretically he should advance, but they might have a tiebreaker [judging from Anytime's interview answers]. If BoxeR wins and Tossgirl wins, it is the same situation.
If YellOw wins, regardless of the other game, then he and BoxeR advance, Kong as A1 and BoxeR as A2. Naturally, everyone should hope for a YellOw win as it is the safest way to put the two most interesting players into the next round.
As for the other group, sAviOr and NaDa are advancing as predicted. It's just a question of who gets the first seed and who gets the second.
Overall a BoxeR/YellOw/sAviOr/NaDa Ro4 is probably the objective 'best' outcome. So I hope that's what happens.

I gotta say though that Saviors ZvP generally still seems to be quite excellent... thinking of special events, remember the Race Wars in which he destroyed Stork and Bisu.. that's at least no weak competition.
3/3 e-Stars LB today. Which makes me in top 10 LB Must have been really lucky considering I never spent more than 2 seconds for a vote and never looked at the line up / map... And also never remember who / which team I voted for [:D]
LOL! i missed the matches again... ARGH! I'm not going to miss the grand finals for sure (even though I'm traveling that day). Are they on any livestreams (on demand)?
