Nick "Tasteless" Plott and "SuperDanielMan" Lee will be hosting a foreigner-only tournament brought to us by a partnership between Gameriot.com's Starfeeder and GOMtv.net. The tournament is called "Valor" and has a $1000 prize pool.
The tournament will have a ladder stage played on ICCup, after which the top 32 players will begin a bracket tournament (with places 33-48 sitting in reserve in case a player drops for any reason). 1st place will win $700, 2nd $200, and 3rd $100.
Tasteless and SuperDanielMan will be providing commentary for the games which will be hosted in high-quality premium content on GOMtv.net. Starfeeder will host low-quality versions of the games a day after the match is completed.
Another nice event. Coolz!I wonder if it will be ladder or just an enormous 512 man 6 hours long tourney. The latter might be a interesting change but I doubt it.
this is great! more commentary from the super duo. they use many running gags like the SVU one, so it pays to watch them all in case any new ones show up.
i wish they had a different format than ladder -> tournament ... everything is starting to have the same format and it's getting a bit boring =P! just my 2 cents, otherwise good shit
It's nice to have tournaments and stuff but their format seems kind of weird. I know all the details aren't worked out but assuming the meet their max player allowance (1k players) that is going to be a massive tourney. I guess they may divide up up over like 3-4 weeks but still seems like it will be difficult. Feels like a ladder is needed in every big tournament to weed out the bulk of the players.
Either way I'll definitely play just for the hell of it and I wish GOMTV/Starfeeder luck in it :p.

Invite onlies stagnate the scene. TSL's ladder system was great, although not a WHOLE lot of new players appeared, I certainly learned a few new names. Brat_OK being one

Where did you get invite only from?
Also, who do you think will make the top 32 in this tournament? It will be roughly the same names, a few big names may be knocked out early on by playing other big names but for the most part it's going to be the usual top 32 foreigners.

I know that, because we have stagnated for so long. But this gives others a chance. And I got that from the majority of tournaments held before the TSL

I genuinely attempted the sc2gg thingy. Might take a shot at this before I get bored with the game again. Want to motivate each other or see who can get higher or something?
Anyone know how long the ladder phase lasts? Or when the tournament takes place? cuz ill be gone from the 28th till the 5th for a week but i still wanna play >.<
I made my account ValorMaton (cuz I saw ValorAdmin) didn't know it had to be VAL-* I played 10 games already, do i have to make a new account and start over, or can I just transfer after I make a new account? Or is my ID ok?

Yes.
I want to break my last season peak of 7200.
jonoman. I am 3/0 right now. My goal is to be c- by tonight and c+ by next friday. That way I can spend at least 1 or 2 weeks (depending on how long the ladder is) working my way threw c+/b-.

Been busy all week but I finally found some time to play a few games. Stayed up and played about 15 games straight. Just played some terran who beat me pretty easily because I was messing around at D+ and tried to go 1 base carrier but he said gg first. Really pissed me off. Just made a load of cannons and went to tl. No idea why the fuck people do that. Incredibly bm and I was about to gg before he said it, saying it wasted a load of his time and achieved nothing but pissing off a random stranger.

You should have just gotten a rematch, smashed his face into the ground, then said "gg this punk".
Zozma, people like that usually don't give re's. In fact I'd guess the guy might be the kind of person who says "ok" when you say "re?" and then ignores you when you create and won't answer your whispers. That pisses me off unbelievably.
Btw Kwark I played a guy yesterday who offensive gg'ed me and he ended up losing the game! I think it was karma, or maybe just my gosu skills.
I noticed some people are doing tournament games for faster points gain, and it doesn't seem to be specifically disallowed in the rules. Does anyone know if this is deliberate or not?

there are no rules set. it's not very well organised : |
I was browsing over the team page on iccup, seems like only mid to high level players are competing. Where are the top foreigners? It is the best paying tournament right now and perfect practice for tsl2 so i dont really understand. Are they too busy with the other tourneys perhaps?

Lastshadow gained notoriety for using rigged maps to win games, then getting caught, promising to never do it again, and then getting caught again. I think this may've happened over three times. I dunno if the rep he earned through cheating is the reason he's been removed from VAL (or if a new infraction caused this), but I don't think Valor is a weaker tournament without him.

We all know the things he's done in the past. And it makes sense that he will permantly be blackballed from tl.net but I'm curious if it was his past or current actions that got him banned.
If it is past then there are alot of gamers that the communities should create a list of who should be blackballed from all events. If it is current actions I will be disappointed.
lol whats the point of even doing that? u gain no practice and u dont improve.. all ur doing is wasting your own time just to get into the top32 so people notice your name, then you just proceed in getting raped in the first round

Same concept can be applied to the use of hacks..
no it cant, i wont go into too much detail but abusing = your just sitting and waiting to get your points which has no effect on your gaming while mh'ing helps you improve somewhat (putting aside the bw morality of which is worse) but yea im sure you wernt able to figure that out by yourself which obligated you to ask your question
God damn it, the anti hack launcher keeps on fucking with me, received 5 losses for memory modifications the last few days and 3 of them today. Since the iccup admins dont give back points in hack cases this is like 1000 points lost Looks really grim for qualifying, also since it happened twice in a row in my last 2 games iv simply given up playing more for now

They posted the pictures of the top 32 rather quickly. I am curious if they waited long enough for complaints to be solved, points to be added on the site, and to check match lists to see which games started before the deadline.
@LZ I'm glad my peer pressure along with others made you play some more, and yeah those 97 points would have been huge, go from 26th to 19th.
One question, on the iccup team page it says drieven is #32 but on valor starfeeder site he isn't in the top 32, would be a shame if he missed it my a slim margin like that. It's also a shame that yayba didn't play more either, He could have made top 32 easy.
Anyways this tournament looks pretty stacked and will be great to watch with Tasteless and SDM casting (IMO get some artosis in there for the best casting ever).
Edit : I see ret is off the iccup team page, that probably is the cause of drieven moving up, it sucks drieven didn't make the cut.
Your bracket is still all off. The issue with #1 and #2 possibly playing in the second round was fixed, but nothing else was corrected. Here is what the matchups should look like:

Your brackets are correct, but so are his (now). You just reordered some matches, but ultimately it comes to the same results.
The idea is that after each round, it becomes a new bracket.. so #1 has to play #16 in the Ro16..and so on down to #8 vs #9. Then in the Ro8, #1 vs #8, #2 vs #7, etc.. down to #4 vs #5.
So that the high seed plays the low seed in that bracket. I double checked his bracket, and it works fine.
Sample bracket (Assumes the higher seed always wins): + Show Spoiler +
@Idra the 22nd, not this coming Friday... originally was going to do 1 week, but felt since brackets are up now middle of the week it was only fair to give more time. Also, Round durations will be flexible to accommodate players

I think he's ranting at the fact that koreans are so good... and foreigners can't win MSLs and OSLs and that there are tournaments now finally for foreigners.
I also happen to think he's an idiot, but that's aside from the fact. Koreans don't expect us to get as good as them. They made the league for themselves. That would be like Americans who head up the NFL expecting to see a mass of talent from outside of the USA, the only real place it sees popularity at extremely high levels, just like StarCraft in South Korea.

If the guy is dodging you , I don't see why you would need to wait for him to long. I mean you guys all put in long hours to earn your spots, if he doesn't care enough to figure out he needs to play then he shouldn't get to!
Sziky is in Ladder a-b for a couple of hours everyday. Strelok, it should not be hard to find him.
I thought I was safe to assume that strelok would look there first lol.

Yay, go Strelok! I guess casting his round of 32 game will be pretty easy...

My guess is that something came up more important to him than the tournament, which is the only reason imo that he wouldn't reply at all. Though usually its something stupid like 'I started playing wow', so who knows.
Oh wow that's ridiculous. No-one is going to pay $50 to watch this. They are just going to watch it on Youtube like me.
You guys should do some research because I'm pretty sure you've got it terribly wrong charging $50. For a start you lose all donations, and then 97%+ of your customer base won't pay.
I don't know why but I find the price of their premium service insulting. I wouldn't consider spending that for a service as limited as theirs. It's like they don't want to foster any good will with the foreign fans, they just want to rake in as much money in as short time as they can. The price is just so ridiculous for what they offer. Is there a premium service for Korean viewers? I can't imagine that there is, and if there is I doubt it's anywhere near as expensive.
When they announced this tournament I was like "well atleast some of the money is going to go into the cash prize for Valor" it didn't cross my mind that they would attempt to use this tournament to push their premium service in such an aggressive manner.
I would donate $50 to TL in a second, but I'm quickly losing what little faith I had in gom. It can either be greed or stupidity on their part that makes them think anything they offer is worth $50 to me. I know it's a dead horse by now but this tournament has just reminded me how little I understand Gom
i dont get it.. are they really asking for premium service membership (50$) to watch the tastelss/sdm casted vods? I'm sure I'm mistaken and this is not true.
If it is though, its stupid imo. I don't believe people would actually pay for this, and like the above poster points out, it creates negative feelings towards gom
Starting June 5th, match series from the Valor Tournament Round of 16 will be broadcasted on GOMTV.net in premium quality for premium subscribers. Following a wait period standard quality VODs will also appear on GOMTVas well as Starfeeder.
Round of 16 is best of 3, starting map: Outsider
Loser chooses next map, map selection: Destination, Neo Medusa, Colosseum II, Heartbreak Ridge, Outsider
The first four matches to be cast are:
Idra vs Tarson Mondragon vs LzGaMer DiNot vs Strelok BRAT_OK vs CrayOn
terrible fucking idea.. holy shit. 50$? tl.net coulda asked for half of that for TSL (a tourney that is 10x bigger) and THEY would get no prescribers.. what the fuck is gom thinking?
Aren't they casting replays anyway? Live would be cool, though, yes. It doesn't matter that much in the end, except that proving that GOMTV are a bunch of greedy assholes.
EDIT: Maybe that's a little harsh, but looking at some tournaments like TSL(with like 5 times the prize), or even SC2GG(Staff pays for prizes, free commentary), this just seems... yeah.

Wow, I'm struggling to hold back on the insults.
Obviously they know you can watch the VoDs, they're not stupid? But people wanna watch it Live, that's the whole point. JUST LIKE GOM SEASON 3.
I understand the frustration a lot of gamers are feeling about this, this brings up a great topic for a new Blog post hmmz...
Due to timezones, I'm unable to really watch a lot of the "Live" castings on GOMTV, but as a premium subscriber I still will download the 2nd game in 'high quality' in a series while watching the first game in regular quality. By the time the first game is done I'll have the premium video downloaded, that's how I use GOM myself anyways...
I think with StarCraft 2, premium real HD quality will be an even much more better buy.

Unfortunately I feel the same way. GOM just seems to be a money vacuum lately and have definately alienated me as a fan with their ask for donations, and now these premium shenanigans.
The delay period is really vain imo. If people are willing to pay they will be willing to pay I doubt it has any sort of productive repercussion for GOM by annoying its majority viewers.
I don't mind it being released a bit later for non-premium. As long as we eventually get to see them, all is fine. ^_^ Like the guy above me said, basically.

Why do people stay up until 3 am to watch games live? It's more fun when everyone's watching things together. Clearly it's not the same if you watch them by yourself.
I'd like to know how much they pay TL for the advertising. They've basically relied on this website to promote their service from the start. This whole thread now just seems like an attempt to promote their premium. They're kicking everyone who donated in the face.
The a tournament prizes are sponsored by SuperDanielMan and Tasteless, tourney organized by Starfeeder staff. The commentated VODs are hosted on GOMTV as an added feature thx to SDM to make the tournament more exciting for the Starcraft foreigner community, to get their matches cast in the same light as the Korean Pro gamers.
Since we're working with GOM to make this possible, getting to watch the games live and in hi-quality (if you want to) is an added perk, regular VODs will be available to be watched anytime of day after
All the maps on the brackets link back to TL, also I'll add a TL banner to the front of the valor site for SC eSports coverage
by LIVE it means the first time Tasteless and Daniel cast them.. but the actual game will have already been played. They will be casting REPS so the "live" tag doesnt seem like such a big deal. Just wait for the free regular quality vods to come out.
Its their mistake imo for offering something you can pay for that you can also get for free right after... it caused all this animosity, even though they were just trying their luck to see if anyone actually paid.
Well I think there are already a lot of people that have purchased the Premium ticket to watch the Intel Classic Season 3, so all those players can already watch the Valor premium quality VODs.
And if they haven't then yeah, they could either get the ticket just for Valor and then can download Season 3 VODs in high quality (it's still far for over) or just wait for the regular quality videos.
I'm working on something that will make the premium ticket a very nice investment for the Valor tournament, hopefully everything works out

Nick also constantly mentions TL.net in many of his casts. Is it a bad thing for advertising a foreign tournament on this site? Isn't that kind of the point...

Did you read this anywhere? Because I only saw them saying it was gonna be paid all the time. I only realized it was free when I actually tried to click it and it worked.
Ok I think GOM TV is gone crazy. They want me to pay for their quality VODs from Valor? You gotta be kidding me. Two days ago its was for FREE, and now I must pay! This world is going under...
And noone ever said these VODs would be for premium users only. Only HQ VOD always were, not LQ. Whats going on?
This service is limited to those who have purchased the Valor Tournament Premium Service. Premium ticket buyer’s conformation is required. Premium Service User who purchased the Valor Tournament Premium Ticket is able to view the video right after the confirmation.
According to Tasteless at the end of the cast last night/this morning he stated, that the VODs will only be available to non-premium users the day after the cast and then from then on they would be for premium users only, he also said that they are trying to fix this problem. However, the live stream is for everyone.
like i emailed you, we scheduled the match twice. first time he told me a half hour beforehand he was going to sleep so we couldnt play, rescheduled for the next day when he told me, again a half hour beforehand, that he couldnt play because his mouse is broken, and i havent been able to get in contact with him since. im gonna be busy tomorrow and most of the next day (hence trying to get him to play on the weekend) so i dont really know what we're gonna do.
if you can get in touch with him i can play before 6:00 CET tuesday
Yeah I emailed CaStro as well... I'm emailing SDM about an alternative plan, maybe cast some special matches this Friday instead of Round of 8. No room for byes this late into the tourney... imho anyways
This is stupid. How are they thinking to get attention or views anymore? Each video has 100 views now, since all have been blocked for non premium users.
Hey guys just a couple updates, GOM is aware of the issue... tho I'm not sure what exactly is going on over there.
Here on our side I'm working on something to get these videos uploaded for you guys, facing technical issues all around, but hoping it gets resolved soon.
In the meantime check out Idra's interview conducted by Peanut:
Reminders: CaStro please get your match in with Idra this week, Mondragon keep me updated on your match... Fenix and Strelok please let me know when u guys can get your games in. SDM said we need at least 1 more match in before the cast this Friday.
Valor Round of 16 videos Will be downloadable from Starfeeder.com in the .gom format, so you will need the GOM player (it's free) I'm uploading them right now... will take all day, but Dinot vs Strelok is up! Check Twitter for notices on uploaded VODs
Why cant you upload last fridays games first please? Most people have allready seen the games you are uploading now, so its better to start off with the newest games. Last weeks games have like 3-7000 views, this weeks games has 100-140 or something views, so please upload the latest games first
No this seems to be happening to everyone, I've uploaded files from a PC and a MAC, problem downloading occurs on both as well (tho there is no GOM player for MAC yet)
This seems to be a GameRiot problem now, consulting with their technical team...

Oh well, I couldnt attend the livecast that day anyways, and clearly there is no way that we get to see the vods if we are unlucky enough to miss the livestream.. Been 5 days since the latest games were played, they have been uploaded, and their 3?! day lolholdback period has passed 2 days ago, and still they are gaying it out, which is annoying me. I have been a great fan of GOM so far, and enjoyed it from the special event even before the first season, but this just annoys me that they cannot fix the vods issue.
Great, now I just checked the site, and sundays GOM season 3 games are allready up and ready to be watched, so its clearly them being gay about the VALOR vods. The uploaded vods dont work, its been moved a week back (not really a big deal but it adds up) no special match as for as I can see on last playday, which was promised etc.

I really do not like whoever's in charge of Gomtv's website business model. Can't pass real judgment since obviously no one knows what's really going on behind the scenes, but from what I can see they suck pretty bad.
Well at least we know how many people actually bought the Premium package from the number of views from the new Valor games...about 25 or so. So GOM made about 1250 dollars from its shitty Premium package. Now all the other videos have about 3k views each. But it isn't released to the public until 3 days after the broadcast. So does the 1250 dollars make up for all the advertisment money lost from not showing the games for 3 days after the broadcast? That will determine if GOM continues with this gay premium stuff or just go back to its old ways which is just better for everybody. No man, you have to wait 3 days! That's absurd and unacceptable, I'm going to complain even though they're not obligated to do this but are rather doing it as a fun tournament.
to be honest, its not hard to grab the VODs from the GOM website if you have a bit of technical know-how without having to pay the ripoff premium fee.
I would post a tutorial but I will prolly get banned..... so PM me if you are interested. And I'm not trolling, I am offering this simply because they did not live up to their end of the bargain ( to post VODs for free ) and so I'm helping them =P
EDIT: I'm getting inundated with PMs... will it be OK if I publicize this? I need an "OK" from a TL mod please.
Thats my method too =P but I didn't post it coz I was afraid of being banned. I think GOM/SCForAll have some policies regarding direct VOD linking. Actually there's a way to watch their premium stream without paying the crazy $50 too.....but thats an ethically questionable practice so i'll let you guys figure it out for yourself.

But also keep in mind that people may watch the vods more than once. Also that people who purchased premium for reasons other than the valor tourney can watch the valor games, so the amount they're making by restricting valor to premium only is very minimal.

nah dont upload them to youtube, I'm sure they will get it worked out. There is a way to bypass their system anyway and the more hits they get directly on their videos the better.

Wait, so Tasteless and SDM had to put up their OWN money and GOM is now charging viewers to watch this? Are Tasteless and SDM getting a share of the fees, or what? It doesn't seem to make sense that they spend their own money for GOM to make money.

from there, just work your way down the list of video IDs
1303.flv, 1302.flv..etc and download all of them
This works for ALL of their premium VODs, not just the regular ones from valor..etc.
And to my knowledge there is NOTHING illegal about this since you are downloading a file off a PUBLIC addressed in a public domain, there's no circumvention of any kind involved.
This is how I have been downloading the vod thanks to a friend. As it isn't illegal in anyway I hope some of you are able to enjoy the vods!

Lipton can you please explain what the purpose of this tournament even is any more, and where the money is going?
Obviously for you the intent is to gain some fanbase for your starfeeder website, which is why you recruit people like Tasteless and SDM to make blogs on your gameriot thing similar to how you guys have done with e-celebrities in WoW. I am assuming you pay them something for the content they provide for your website (I should hope so)
So why has Tasteless stated that this tournament has cost him money? When he says "our money went into this" does he mean Starfeeder money, or his personal money and SDM's?
So if Tasteless is making no money from it like he says, is Starfeeder making money from it? No one seems to be upset at all that Gom is going to these measures to squeeze money out of viewers with your own tournament, so I don't believe that there is no money being made by parties other than Gom.
I feel like absolutely nobody in this tournament is being honest with the audience and i can only speak for myself but it pisses me off and is having the exact opposite result of what I think you ultimately wanted to accomplish which is gain some credibility with the Starcraft community.

Grow up guys.
They are legitimate questions imo considering the ...less than popular recent updates
For once I agree with floor exercise, and would also like to see his questions answered. AZ, Kennigit is right: if Valor wants to maintain a good reputation (and viewer-base) it should be more transparent. Giving us the fans a straight answer would just be good PR.
JWD, Kennigit you think knowing the behind the scenes infastrucuture of this tournament is important.
DL,tasteless, lipton and gom have all failed to meet up to expectations and in some cases we have been completely lied too. Can't I just blame all of them and move on? ESP since we all know that nobody is making money on this tournament. ESPORTS.
As for gom I don't think teamliquid should frown on people reuploading these vods and posting them here.

Im very aware that DLee and Tasteless got jerked around. I talked to them about it. It's still much better to provide some form of explanation especially when you announce a service publicly and then cant follow through.

man.. still can't watch the vods for free? i thought they would be free after 3days... Well watched the results then and now I don't want to watch them anyways. let's see what happens in the next round.
edit: I just can't understand why would they want to charge of watching? >:O isn't the live watching of progames at mbc/ogn studios free as well?
Next time they should make make valor-esque deals in writing, so lipton can sue for a breach in contract. Could there be consumer laws against this sort of bait and switch (though nobody buys anything unless they get premium)? Where's Ralph Nader or his korean equivalent?
Starfeeder should have contracted out gom's production and casting services (opposite of major sports), but retained rights to the videos (same as the major sports). Gom keeps whatever ad revenues for the livecast (same as major sports). Then starfeeder can host the videos (and package it with their own ads) or rip us off. I guess tasteless and daniel lee pitched it as premium content to sell it to their gom overlords. I don't see what starfeeder is getting out of this at all other than bad rep. Since the tournament started, gom's probably getting all the traffic and starfeeder none of it.

I went down the list and started getting Warcraft 3 VoDs at like 1292, should have been the start of the second week of valor tourny by my estimation.
Thank You AttackZerg and exkgb!!
Yea ... I counted where should I start to get the 1st ones and nothing dled when I tried 1286id xP.... for me this is the only way to watch it at all because I found reps not vods? Unless someone gives me the link where it is on Starfeeder and is organized :/ because I found like 3 vods (from May 9th and 27th? it's end of June right now right?) scattered in videos section EDIT: 2 of them were from you tube until they were "removed by user" X_x fuck! Sorry Lipton enjoyed some other videos while looking for vods tho xP
from there, just work your way down the list of video IDs
1303.flv, 1302.flv..etc and download all of them
This works for ALL of their premium VODs, not just the regular ones from valor..etc.
And to my knowledge there is NOTHING illegal about this since you are downloading a file off a PUBLIC addressed in a public domain, there's no circumvention of any kind involved.
This is how I have been downloading the vod thanks to a friend. As it isn't illegal in anyway I hope some of you are able to enjoy the vods!
Edit: credit to the author exkgb !!
How come 855 translates into 1304? Just wondering...thanks on tip btw.
i think Blizzard sponsored a little bit f cash to valor too, otherwise u won't see the certified by Blizzard logo on the valor broadcast... or maybe its just gom showing off their Blizzard sponsors on their network...
sucks pretty much u can only watch valor in live broadcast... way to go promoting e-sports to foreigner gom!
I wasn't aware GOM was the main proponent behind the Valor tournament. I mean, I assumed that it offered support but that Tasteless and SDM were the ones who are really organizing this.

Blizzard has to sign off on all tournaments that use StarCraft. They dont sponsor it. For TL tournaments we have to sign a contract with blizzard absolving them of any prize responsibility. That is all the logo means.

Assumptions are foolish...
I guess this only holds true if the prize pool exceeds a certain amount? Can't imagine every 20$ binary beast tournament bein signed off by blizz ^^
I hope we get to see a Tasteless vs SDM match in the show match episode. Or do it in place of the strelok match. I think it would be hilarious watching them cast their own games.

this is a win idea. i'd love to see them go at it lol
Really looking forward to the special match. I honestly think (no offense to White.ra! He rocks.) that baby will completely decimate him. Baby isnt the best pro-gamer out there but he can hold his own to a degree in the pro-leagues and looks very scary in a lot of his games.
Given, he is 2-8 out of his last 2 games, but I still see him as a solid player when compared to foreign players. I am really looking forward to seeing this though and I wish White-ra the best of luck. How baller would it be to see him win?

Yeah Baby is my fav new player
He took down Jangbi nuff said for his TvP!
SDM "This is Terran baby!" Tasteless "This is a Baby Terran!"
I'd suggest making earlier LR thread for this or post in BW section, otherwise many ppl will miss this, and iam sure they wouldn't want to.Special match sounds awesome, even tho it will be rape fest. Can't wait!
Ugh, I have a meeting at 930 so I can't watch Valor. The vods on GOM have become too much of a hassle for me lately, I hope the games are boring so I don't have to deal with it.

i know who is that :p just didn't know for that aka.. nice, nice, brat_ok and a2... it would be great to watch androide again, or notforu, ex.. i love russian starcraft players
The tossgirl game 1 is 1248 so start from there. I'm downloading all these vods and plan to package them together in a torrent to put up on piratebay, I'll post the link here when done.
On February 17 2010 15:05 Nanology wrote: Any word on that torrent? I've also been going through and downloading alot of videos, but still missing some.
I pretty much gave up a few minutes after I started, because the video numbers don't make much sense and they are mixed up with a bunch of wc3 commentaries and random other stuff. I don't really want to sort through all the junk, but by all means anybody can if they want.
Is there any chance anyone could figure out newly working substitutes? I have a few Valor games in my "recommended VODs" spreadsheet and I'd like to point them at working URLs.
Reps from ro32 and part of ro16 are on reps.ru i think. all the vods are on gomtv. The finals you can watch for free but everything else i think you need a ticket for. Not worth the money.

oh wow and here I was thinking there was a new foreign BW tournament

I'm aware. I've already seen the entire tourney. But there were a couple games worth linking, which I can't link unless someone re-discovers GOM's latest hosting scheme.
Edit: Here's a link to a sample (viewable) finals game, in case anyone can reverse-engineer the hosting scheme from the HTTP requests made when loading it: http://www.gomtv.net/valor/vod/976
I don't need game recommendations. I resurrected this thread in hopes of some kind soul figuring out new working links directly to the appropriate .swf files, like mittens & others did originally.

This script was for watching the GSL vods, but should let you watch the Valor vods OK.
As for downloading them directly, I'm not sure how to do it. The request for the file ends up with a "key" attached to it, which I think has some kind of time expiry on it. 'Cos if you just paste the URL into your browser, you'll just get a 403 forbidden. I managed to download a single GSL game, I guess by pasting the link in as fast as possible, but I haven't been able to reproduce that since.
Could it be the referrer? I noticed that the referrer in the requests my browser was making was set to the URL of the .swf player. Maybe faking up a request with that referrer would make it work.
Currently trying to figure out how to re-code that GM script without unsafeWindow, so it will work in Chrome
