Dt in hero's base wrecking shit. Hero's third is down, Best starts his own expo. More overlords die around the map. Hero has lings running into best's nat, only to retreat to cannons and Archon.
Four gates + 1 building for best, toss moves out with lots and an Archon. As expected, hero is massing his hydras with his now 4 hat, kills the archon, but is forced to retreat to speedlots.
Can someone help me please? I installed the GOM player, but now when I click the "Watch Live" button it says that I don't have it installed.. And yes, I'm using IE.
Hero fights it off easily with basic hydra micro and puts up his third again. Hydras in best's nat, kills the cannon, gets SANWICHYYYYY'd, and loses most of them. He's retreating.
Totally outclassed by best. Unit control, gameflow, and unit combo all to best's favor. Hero lost way too many Overlords...five or six? So yeah, he basically had no chance.
Haha, Susie's commentating is very good, I think. I really enjoy it...it makes me smile :D
I don't know why people give her so much shit, she's really good.
Yeah, and now, Tasteless is commenting on the Overlord debacle.
And no, Tasteless, he definitely lost more than three
I think that his idea was that he was going to get the spire first, to keep the sair numbers down, and then go into a 5 hat hydra. the spire was too late for some reason, and the first sair managed to get something like 4 ovie kills.
best just managed to outplay by.hero, and it's not looking good for hero.
hero decides to counter with something like 9 muta into best's base.Best is going to have trouble deffending this, becuase he's only got 2 sairs (scourge are out)
there are like no probes in best's base 4 more sunkens down for best, best is trying tobreak, but the lings/muta are eating up the goons. best is left with only 6 goons vs 4 muta and 2 controls of lings
best looked inspired and golden in the first game, and he looked lost and indecisive with a random cheese strat in the second game. Which best are we going to see in the third game- the one from game 1, or the one from game 2
Wow, this is literally the first time I've ever head Tasteless/susie (first time I've heard English commentary was last week with Jason Lee subbing in), and I must say, they're great!

Hmm, maybe he did nine pool...Tasteless is saying it too, but I swear I counted 7 drones O-o...and I'm actually counting, not actually using their unit counter.

Yeah 1 drone made the spawning pool, the other made the gas

1 drone for the spawning pool and 1 drone for the extractor. there ya go. 7 drones.
Best drops down four lots onto the high ground near hero's min only, attacking the hat. Drones defending but are exploding to psi blades. Lings come back to defend. Three drones dead, all lots gone.
Best loading up 4 zealots into a shuttle, unloaded out of range at heros third min only. they target the hatch, but change and take out 3 drones and like 6ish lings. all dead. Sairs come in at nat and take out a lord or two. Reaver is out
2 or 3 total overlords lost for hero, about 4 drones lost as well. reaver is now out, slow shuttle, best is trying really hard to make sure that he can keep that shuttle alive.
On November 16 2008 18:49 waterGHOSTCLAWdragon wrote: +1 push for best is ready, while hero is trying to break the nat with hydra. it's not going to work.
hero dropping about 25 hyrdras behind best's min only. No defense, its going to die, but 2 dts at zerg's min only at the same time ht drop at main for about 6 drones.
3 reavers now out for best, but he loses the shuttle again- he's having having trouble keeping map mobility. Luckily his corsairs are keeping the overlords from gaining sight of the map
Best loses another shuttle, but hero's overlords from the earlier drop at best's min only all die. about 5-6 of them. about 10 goons engage the main, but mass hydras push them back.

Yogurt bar with berries and granola, lots of melon, pineapple, grapefruit, etc., full salad bar, popular breakfast foods (different types of eggs, sausages, etc.), specialty line with frittatas, pastas, etc., a make your own omelet bar, and a make your own waffle station that makes waffles emblazoned with the Duke logo.
I think that best was playing like that was a pvp. the end of that third game there was like 12 goons, 2 zeals, and 2 walking reavers. it was too overpowering for the zerg army comp, but it looked a heck of a lot like a pvp army. ><;;

Damn, really rooting against Best there. I just don't like for absolutely no reason. He's about the only top protoss I don't like. Protosses tend to all be pretty cool: Stork, Bisu, Jangbi, Much, Kal... but Best just don't belong there.

I'm really hoping that he learns how to play pvz. Without pvz, the only season that he'll have a true shot at osl (or msl) will be fall ><;;
Range started. Soo sent a lot out to mess with terran. Terran loses scouting scv, only saw range upgrade and first gate. He's in the blind as to whats next.
FD push coming out about 7 rines and first tank. Soo is picking off the rines. Vult is out. Terran tries to plant mines but they get picked off. Vulture hurt but it lives for now.
soo's expansion just finished, forgg's expansion is going up at his nat. Obs first forsoo, then it looks like he's planning for reaver harass.. forgg is prepared for it by laying spidermines everywhere
soo loses another zeal, but this time for no good reas. forgg has 5 fact, he's looking for that push right before the third gets up and running. 7 gates now up for soo
Arbiter Tribunal warping in. More lots and goons hanging out in the North part of the map, but at least Terran isn't fully contained anymore. Vultures mining randomly around the map.
alright, i'm not as hardcore as Empyrean, i'm heading off to bed. It looks like forgg is going to workhimself back into this game with his trademark macro, but soo is playing really really well >.>
The thing about this game is that both players have such strong, conservative play, that it's difficult to convert any significant leverage into a decisive advantage. Terran plays the game like it's a fucking defense map, with prophylactic mines everywhere and slow, positional play. Soo is just playing very strong, solid, macro type play, with beautiful positioning that allows him to come ahead in all encounters.

I didn't vote soo, but some people just wing it sometimes, and just got lucky, I doubt stats were the reason for the vote, as ForGG is obviously is more accomplished recently, maybe they just think ForGG is entering a slump after getting knocked out of OSL and MSL?. I voted against July a few weeks ago and it was just a random guess there was going to be an upset, no real reason, me and 29 others =P.
honestly, i really like Effort lately, and he has good muta control, so I think Effort has this game with the earlier Mutas.. if Effort doesn't let Kwanro get too many Mutas I think Effort has a clear advantage
P.s.: I really thought Kwanro's ZvZ was better than that - I always said he was waaay overrated, but not this much imo. His play level drastically dropped lately...
i guess we know why effort is used much more heavily in PL than kwanro now. he's better at zvz better at zvt (2-1 hwasin in gom) better at zvp (2-0 kal in ogn dual tournament) effort is damn good =o
It was just so smart of Savior to kill all the gateways while powering up his hydra army. Then he just rolls over his opponent with ease. Nice to see he's not afraid to put sunkens down either.
On November 16 2008 20:56 Zinbiel wrote: I guess since this tournament ends in the beginning of 2009, so for savior to destroy everyone in 2009 he has to stay in it.
This game is for all those who claimed PvZ was imbalanced. Storms Reavers and Archons might seem imbalanced but this ability to instantly change tech (hydra to insta muta and then hydra-lurk) is also VERY powerful.
Guys, you forgot something, map stats are nothing if sAviOr is playing. Just look at the stats on Longinus and on Reverse Temple....now, Destination is next.
SAAVIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRR!!!! That was great. His old game sense is back. The hydra/muta transition was superb, we had nice templar snipes, gates unpowering was cute. Wow. It feels so good. I just hope this is just not a one game miracle. I believe.
That was really really smart by Savior. Although Free's dumb idea have powering his gateways helped, the game was basically over when those archons died. If the gateways weren't going to die the main probes and nexus were dead (cannons were just started) The mutas were totally out of nowhere especially after fast getting hydra range +1, really amazing mind play by Savior. I'm so excited for him now.

In a progame it has nothing to do with "manly". Your opponent wins if he can destroy all your buildings or you give up, not before that. Forcing a draw is not bad mannered nor any other shit. Seriously if it would be the game 5 of an starleague final I would do everything but gg if I can force a draw.

Nah, unless they are famous pros, nobody here would know their names making it a lot more confusing for non Koreans.

So do you think savior could have beaten Jaedong in the next round of GOM ? At least i think free has a chance. Jaedong's ZvZ is still sicker than his ZvP if you ask me.
i can't believe all these guys finding faults in savior...and what's worse is those faults aren't even true. savior only committed to lair because he didn't have resources to go hive. savior couldn't expand because he needed every bit of resource to build a force big enough to defend.
the thing that won free the game was the timing of the archon zealot push. after that savior had to defend with all his resources. a bit of build order lost and a bit of mismicro with the mutas vs archons.

No, that's not true at all. Pay attention to details. Savior made a hatch at the 2 expansion that could've easily been placed at his min only; that essentially lost him the game. His drone saturation, at least at his main, was more than enough. While Savior's contain was very very impressive, he was going against impossible odds. Basically a really dumb move ;/
I also thought he could've done more damage with the hydras at certain points, since Free had no available storms or goons, but he refused to press in and take out the cannons.

No. Not at all. BackHo's a joke. Free's been going into Ro16 and Ro8's for most of his career and falling because he gets the worst draw. Savior himself took Free out of 2 WCGs and an MSL. And being eliminated by Bisu is nothing to be ashamed about.
What's with zergs having the most irrational fanbases? I think it's actually kind of nice to have no zergs on top right now so there'd be some more rational posts going around.

Well yeah that too >_> But he should have expanded anyway, it's like typing in GG if you don't
baubo, it's because Zerg is the most difficult race to play well so the people who can play them well are well, respected.
If u watch the game, after Free got advantage, Savior spent all his money to produce units. While watching i didnt see savior minerals more than 150. If he would take +1 exp,he might lost game very earlier. He was too behind after Free's break!
Well that was such an epic series, worthy of any final without a doubt. Even though he lost, Savior proved that he is playing at a very high level once more. Great job by Tasteless and Susie once again, GomTV rocks. As for Free... wow, yet another stunning and clutch performance, he's becoming the real deal.
tell me what u want, but: there are certain points in the PvZ match up if toss doesnt make mistakes and keeps on staying in the game and is not too passive, zerg simply cant come back.
Not saying this match up is imbalanced. Just want to point out how hard it can get for a zerg...
what?! go watch his series from arena, comeback and tell me that's fluke
3-2, 3-1, 3-0. do you know how far you gotta stretch it to qualify that as some simple fluke? He got progressively better results the high he rose.
I think the word you're looking for is "sudden peak." I dunno why he's losing lately but it sure as hell does NOT take away from his title-winning series of games, which were the best games of that msl season
words cannot describe my disappointment..... again
it's fucking free.. the guy who knock out jaedong from the msl. losing to him isn't that much of a downer at this moment
yeah but free didnt even have time to prepare for this while savior had ages to prepare
he shouldve won this
true he should have won but what should I do as a zerg fan? hoping for yellow[fake] to win....? luxury? ok he won wcg, he is a good player, but not a champion imo there is july and ggplay....good at times, but nowhere near dominating
that leaves us with jaedong (slumping a little) and savior those are imo the only two z players that can get really scary most likely savior won't be as powerfull again as he was, but honestly: if a players nowadays shows half the dominance savior did in 2006, it's really damn impressive.....the bar is just to high to reach that level of play again
and I am still hoping for some no name zerg to rise and show some inspiring play, like zero his lurker drop game agains fantasy was really brilliant hope to see more of him in the near future
sAviOr played amazingly. Please quit saying stupid things like 2006/7 savior would have won this - no, he wouldnt. The level of play has heavily evolved since then, and these games proved that sAviOr has finaly evolved with it. Worth noting his win came on Destination, a horrible ZvP map, also impressive.
Looking back, i just realized how often sAviOr and free have met up in early rounds of tournaments. Someone should explore that in a blog post or something.
*Edit* and Jaedong!
Free has met up with either sAviOr or Jaedong in almost every tournament he has been in, and in proleague.
Honest question: When game 3 started I couldn't help but think to myself "Savior knows clear as day that free is going to forge expand, why doesn't he just 4/5 pool and take an easy win?"
I don't understand why more zerg players don't do this when it's obvious that their P opponent is planning on fast expanding. Anyone else think this wouldn't have been a bad choice on a 3 player map (easy to find your opponents spawn location to rush at)?

way to go Free!
We need to bring July back in for the diamond mouse if the protoss race starts some kind of a domination, but then again if he faces only protoss players it would be an entertaining one sided rapes like Ever 2008 . Well at least the final was the other series that he played were somewhat boring even for a ZvP fan such as me .
GodOfWar >>>>>> protoss forever .
I agree that Savior is out of his slump he just needs to improve his play a bit more , he was playing great, but sadly he made a few mistakes that cost him the third set in which he was in a good position to win and a pretty close second set thought a 1 dragoon win ... I personaly don't mind if Savior loses if he can bring us close and entertaining games like that . Althought i would have been happier if he won .
Savior also could have won set 2 by microing his zerglings when they counterattacked free's base. If he'd done that, free wouldn't ahve had the unit count nor the economy (to keep pumping goons) to allow him to kill off the muta army.
Still the fact that it was such a close series against a P player who has been really strong lately is a sign of improvement. I doubt we'll see him win another 3 titles in one year, but it would be nice to see him win a starleague or even just make the finals.

Still the fact that it was such a close series against a P player who has been really strong lately is a sign of improvement. I doubt we'll see him win another 3 titles in one year, but it would be nice to see him win a starleague or even just make the finals.
He also could have won (or more likely, forced a stalemate) if he jumped a drone through his natural's mineral line and built his extractor at the secret expo instead of at 6.
there is pattern in GOM, 3 of the same race wins the day or 3 of the same race loses the same day.

Ya that was kinda dumb for Savior. For someone that played a elimination recently on Neo Requiem, he should know better.

he couldnt have done this with one drone right? also how would elimination work after a draw? just replay that match?

I honestly don't think there is a Zerg on the planet that can beat free right now, he gave Jaedong a solid schooling sAviOr stood up better than even he did.

umm >_> His games show courage and intelligence that I havent seen in his play in a long long time. He just needs to improve a little.
sAviOr shouldnt've won game 3, and he didn't. Free's zealot archon nullified savior's early mutas. If Free had lost, that would be a discredit to him, not a credit for savior, imo.
