Well, for one reason or another, both of these players have been eliminated from that
destined final stage by the same sweeping 0-3 defeat in the semis. UpMagiC, the
"#1 unpredictable" Terran took on an impossible map pool, pitting his relative weakness
to his opponent's strength - and played admirably.
The week after, we witnessed the Lion of Teamleague and the Anti-Zerg reenact their
PvP mirror final from GomTV MSL Season 2, this time with radically different results.
Inferior play coupled with one instance of bad luck took hold of Bisu's nerves and
sent this "bonjwa" candidate on a downward spiral into oblivion.
But fear not true believers, for the curtain will rise one last time for our coveted players.
Since their semifinal woes, both have entered stasis to await further upgrades for the
coming battle.
This is it folks, the dying swan is about to sing its last and most beautiful. Only one
question remains: Terran, or Protoss?

I think that's a very fair description, considering how much the BO5 overwhelming advantaged Jaedong both in MU and in map pool. Any other terran would've just fought standard and died an inevitable death. Up had his trademark unpredictability which is a huge saving grace.
I did not like game 3, but by then it'd become a double foregone conclusion in light of his death on Blue Storm. You can't win TvZ on Persona, much less twice. Whoever rolled Persona twice in the map draw needs to be shot.

After Yellow, Bisu's the 2nd man I've seen who's so broken by the defeat that his mannerism totally changed after the game. His eyes wandered nervously as if they're anticipating some kind of incoming criticism. I like Bisu, but this match is too soon for him.

I highly doubt UpMagic will win. This guy never plays straight up and Bisu KNOWS this and will counter properly. Bisu has to know how to deal with that kind of play after experiencing those builds from Flash.
Could you imagine, though, Bisu slumping? Loosing this series, the next series vs Sea and then loosing on ODT?

The biggest hurdle for Up is that he has a proleague match vs Jaedong just a few hours prior to this. A chance for revenge vs a chance for a seed

Up played a nice old school style, props 2 that. Just what's needed for T on Fantasy II - creativity.

Game 2. Time to put the doubting to rest Bisu, and start winning again.

Game starts on Katrina, Bisu gets brown and at 12 o'clock and Up is blue at 9 o'clock. Protoss are 9-4 on this map against Terran, so I think this is the game Bisu has to take if he wants to win the series.

upmagic sees the zealot and pulls around 7 scvs to deal with it while stalling for marine, why he didnt' wall i don't know
bisu kills off some scvs including the one building up's factory. it is quickly replaced
it's hard to describe this, but so far up has taken out 4 zealots and bisu has taken out around 4 marines and 4 scvs it's hard to tell since i'm alt tabbing between the game and typing this out

Up's early micro is so awful...he lost like 5 marines and a vulture to 3 zealots.
Now he plants a mine right in cannon range...

Up tries to do the fake double to hide his starport tech, but his push is stopped by a cannon on top of the ramp. Dropship is also out and drops 2 vults and a tank into bisu's nat.

Bisu is losing masses of probes to a drop at his natural, some good dropship micro from Up.
His rush to dark templars just isn't paying off.

Up gets a few more vultures into the natural, but a dark templar relieves some of the damage. Bisu then drops a dark templar into Up's main's mineral line, which can only be killed by mines. Up can't risk using mines around his SCVs so he moves them to his natural.Up then Takes down Bisu's templar archives and puts more pressure with drops while using a wraith to kill bisu's shuttle. Getting pretty intense on the micro scale O.O

Observer's out for Bisu and he stems the damage to his natural. He's now attempting to take a second expansion and also harasses Up's natural with a dark templar.

Up is at the disadvantage yet speaking seriously, his dt rush is paying off. UpMagiC nat is neutralised but Bisu's nat is still running !

Bisu's expos, regardless of the constant rapage, pay off in the end when Bisu has several goons and zealots in Up's base against his 2 tanks and he gives the GG.

Bisu broke through with brute force goons and a suicide shuttle with 4 zeals. Up tried a harrassing drop with 2 tanks but that left his defence back at base too thin.

Up had a spot of trouble controlling both his ground and air army, but it looks like he came out on top. Bisu has 6 dragoons and only a few carriers. Up's now pushing, but Bisu's dragoons attack Up's bottom right expo. They get taken out and things aren't looking too hot for bisu.

Bisu better start adding like 100000 gateways if he hopes of winning coz he lost like 4 carriers. If bisu persist in getting carriers he is gonna lose =/

Fun fact: Up has 1500 minerals. Guess he planed and expansion. Several goons score SCV kills at Up's relatively new expo at 5.
Forced up to withdraw his push for a while.
Another attack at Up's nat. All SCV dead there.
Bisu tries to be ballsy and expand at 6 LOL.

Bisu has Sairs and Reaver, which is the makeshift bisu build. Ground armies meet up, and speedlots take out a lot of tanks. Carriers make Up a Jill Sandwich, but goliaths pop out and start focus firing carriers. It doesn't seem like there were enough and Up's attack force is decimated.

Bisu didn't make any mistakes with his carriers and his reaver support was a really nice touch that let him take out that cc a lot faster. Still fairly even.

They're meeting up repeatedly, just Carriers and goliaths dancing around. Bisu hits an unguarded expo's weak point for massive damage. Up corners him and his tanks take out the dragoons with goliaths focusing on carriers. It looks like Bisu has almost a full control group of them by the way.

This is pretty much over, Up with the last desperation attack at Bisu's elevation ground.
Excellent game.
Seems when you engage in a multiple front battle with Bisu, winning is impossible. His multitasking is still unrivaled.

Up is down to his mineral only and lost a ton of factories. He seems unsure whether he should go back and defend or try to finish what he can of Bisu's base.

A lot of stuff happened since TL went down, mainly Bisu went totall ALL-in with DT drop and failed.

Looks like Up learned his lesson from game two though, mines and turrets in his mineral line. Bisu loses his shuttle with a DT in. Kills like two scvs total. Up finds the proxy tech, this looks over.

It's not AI, the trick is not aiming in the middle SCV in a line that is escaping from you, that way the other SCV's will prevent the scarab from reaching it's target. Middle SCV is only if the SCV line is perpendicular to you.

Bisu did good also, even though Persona was honestly a gay map.
Like another poster said, next map should have Psi Storm. And make it so they cast every ~20 seconds or so in some choke spot so you have to time when your units move through it or else it's rape season.

I was playing a game with my friend (PvT), and he beat me with dropship play (and his favorite player is Upmagic). Remembering that the Bisu-Upmagic matches were today, I came over here hoping that the game wasn't a bad omen.

Who you SHOULD be watching is stork. much better player, wcg winner (isn't that enough). his only weakness is pvz and when he uses bisu build he's just as unstoppable. you saw it vs julyzerg and he never really got a chance to show off his pvz after that (1 match where he got ling rushed that's it.)

Bisu's pvz isn't remotely decent... it's beyond any other protoss player's capabilities at the moment. His pvt and pvp isn't shit either. You exaggerate way too much for your post to have any credit although I do admit stork seems to be the current better protoss player.

Stork's PvP was undoubtedly better on the day. That does however explain why Bisu looked so disappointed with his play in the aftermath, however. Little details like this really go a long way into making the league more human, imho.

Damn it Bisu! On the one hand I really like Bisu because he brought Protoss to a new level. But on the other hand I just can't stand it, how he is always eliminating my favorite players (saViOr, Up). Often I catch myself arguing that he's just a lucky bastard, because of all these strange and even boring comeback-victories by him. Except of his PvZ, in my opinion, he has a lack of "aah and ooh"-Moves - like for example Up is showing very frequently.
It hurts, especially for the saViOr-Fans...but we all have to admit that Bisu is Bisu.
And a Bisu is just fucking good, nothing else.

Probably over-prepared. Some people's constitution makes them fall sick after intense physical or mental work. Probably YelloW was one of them. Bisu seems to be abit like that, he has too much responsibility weighing on his shoulders.

UpMagic reminded me of boxer so much, it was crazy. Game one, I pretty much thought this was Bisu vs Boxer. Sending his marine/scv force to attack the front while his vults fucked up his main, killing probes on the top ledge, dropship micro.

Though statistically, Stork's about the only wall that's harder to take down than Bisu.

Actually this series made UpMagic look clearly different from Boxer to me. Boxer's play is more mentally solid, especially in big & deciding games. Although UpMagic has brilliant strats, he makes lots of micro mistakes and his execution is not so smooth when it really matters.
After Boxer lost his 1st spot in the KeSPA's ranking, he still always played as if he's the greatest player and he's born for the top-notch level of competition in Starcraft. Meanwhile I always have the feeling that UpMagic's just not even sure why he's at this top level competition. Both Boxer and Up take risks and do ballsy move, but in 2 different positions and with different mentality.
I'd love to see Up keep his style, but with a better micro and stronger mental. Then (with some personal charisma), he will become a new Boxer.

Boxer will finish military at late 2008, and will come back. I think Boxer is smart to change his style, for top level play that is right now, and be top10 Kespa.
