(4)Paranoid Android Map Information TBA
I will write the information in the next days.
Dear voters, please consider this is NOT a "1v1 only" competition. And discarding Paranoid just because it's not playable on 1v1 wouldn't be a good thing. (4)Paranoid Android is a 2v2 map, please don't evaluate it according to the 1v1 meta.
(4)Paranoid Android has been selected for the BSL 2v2 map pool, and offers three different entertaining 2v2 situations depending of the position of your ally!
I still can't belive this Competition has a 2v2 map as one of the top 4!!! And that's amazing! thank you for your votes!
I'm Sorry i don't have time to upload the map info and the VODs right now, but please, take a look at the pictures above.

The other two I find kind of boring.
Champion would be no. 1 for me but I'm a sucker for desert tileset. Thank you Minerals for the continued effort.

Your ID : JoJo Location : Sweden Map Name : Lights Out Map Version : Latest update is Lights Out3.3 Changes to the map from previous stage is the altered center and the layout for 3, 9, 6 and 12 has been improved. Also overall improved symmetry.
Map Size : 128x128 Rush distance : 31 seconds Horizontally, 30 seconds Vertically, 39 seconds diagonally
Map Description : Circuit Breakers. 4P standardish map. Original map made by 김응서 (Earthattack). Added eggs for todays meta walling, tileset is changed. General layout kept. The expansions 12, 6, 9 and 3 is changed to make them a bit safer 3d expansion. Lowground => now midground.
Resemblance of original map: * The general layout is kept to keep the game similar in the mid - outskirts as well as remind you of the original map. I changed the center layout to hopefully wake some 2on2 interest, i.e the centre is remade to give more altering game mechanics. High ground delays Terran movement and adds important paths for zerg and protoss to counter attack.

The top 4 maps look amazing. I didn't like the earlier iterations of Lights Out but the new version looks much nicer. It's a difficult decision. :<

Vamos Test ! Oh, she is a peruvian female streamer ( https://www.facebook.com/DalizGamer). She is also the organizer of the female StarCraft Cup (on-site). Different female players from different countries are traveling to Perú for this tournament. Guess who is paying for the prize pool and per diem for the female players? the community! They don't neet to "steal" the NWMC3 prize pool because the StarCraft Community is composed of adults, and the community members can crowfund anything they want. We participated crowfundeding BSL and Latin American Cup! I can make a list for you: - bovienchien, with 1102 posts, probably not a fake account right?

- Edsel Luis and Edinson F with no bnet tag.
- Peeano, with 3996 posts, probably not a fake account right?
- Conan1, the best zerg player in latam, runnerup of from the LatinAmerican Cup.
- Daliz, peruvian female streamer, organizer of the female StarCraft Cup
- LML, with 1634 Posts, probably not a fake account right?
- and i can continue, and continue, and continue
Let me tell you one more thing: ![[image loading]](https://i.imgur.com/Mivjfm1.png) This peruvian guy map was also the most voted map in the preivous round... And this peruvian guy have been mapping since 2006... and this peruvian guy has won a dozen of mapping competitions in the last 17 years... I don't want it to look like I'm bragging. I just feel proud of this. I didn't know about this new rule because i was in bed (I have a fever right now), and i think this rule is a good thing! just let me know if you want Daliz and Conan to edit their posts and paste their bnet tags, or if i can provide them (i know their tags). Last question: why are they creating their accounts today?I've been talking to many LATAM players since the 1st round of the competition and 2nd round of the competition but they didn't create their accounts and they didn't vote. This time, i contacted them again. The big difference is that this time: - I told them this is the final final round and maybe that's why they finally registered.
- There are only 4 maps to choose so voting is easier than in previous rounds.
I didn't ask thenm to explicitly vote for my map. I usualy say something like "your vote is important for the mapping community" but i see some of them are writing things like "go go Perú" or "go go Test" so i will try to make sure they understand the message: vote for the 2 favorite maps on the list, regardless of the nationality of the author. Final wordsPlease guys, remember that people from Latam don't have TL accounts (as you can see, not even Conan had an account until yesterday) and many american and european community members have a TL account since 2005 or 2006... So, this new rule can feel offensive for some players because It feels like an anti-latino rule. Whe i explained this new rule to them, some of them said "omg they are so xenophobic" haha. So... would you guys consider adding this rulle for all the users? instead of only new accounts? Latam voters will probably always be new accounts... let me show you 2 examples: Example 1: OliPatrick, one of the most important casters in latam, with 83,000 followers on facebook ( www.facebook.com) didn't have an account until the stage 1 of this competition: ![[image loading]](https://i.imgur.com/CbOLvCd.png) and ![[image loading]](https://i.imgur.com/xOwG1fm.png) in fact, his only 2 posts are in the NWMC3 threads... he never came back to TL after that. Example 2: Jan, from RemastrTV, one of the most important StarCraft casters in latam, with 48,200 subscribers on youtube ( https://www.youtube.com/@RemastrTV) registered on january 2023 in order to vote in the 1st round of this competition: ![[image loading]](https://i.imgur.com/pDBYB5w.png) and ![[image loading]](https://i.imgur.com/sb3cRSk.png) he has now 7 posts, but he was one of the few people who actually registered and voted when i contacted him during the first round. And didn't have an account at that moment. Most of the people i contacted didn't register. And if they vote in this round, they will probably have to create a new account to do that. Thank you for reading, i'll go back to bed (sorry but i feel super sick right now). I'm so sorry this new users made you think someone is cheating. I love this game, and i would never do somethig that can ruin this beautiful game, or this beautiful community. I find some of your comments a litttle bit toxic, and one of the most valuable characteristics of the StarCraft Community is the 0% toxicity. This community is not toxic, because we are all adults. And have more important things to do than cheating on a contest. Have a nice day!!!

Exito.

Paranoid Android XXL sure is a pretty cool map, i've never said it is not..
I just don't like this kind of voting promotion shennanigans. Would say the same if anyone incentivized his/hers army of fans to "mass" vote in any other voting contest, be it on YT, fb, twitter, doesn't matter. Not every top4 map maker here can just promote this contest to hundreds (thousands? I know LatAm community is quite big indeed) of viewers which will OBVIOUSLY vote for his map as #1 (because he is a part of the community while other contestants are not).
So it's not like I hate the map or that I'm prejudiced against LatAm.. it's just that I find this kind of stuff.. distasteful. That's all
|
i think mass voting is not somethig possible in this competition. I've contacted dozens of players and they didnt vote.
Yesterday, a Bolivian streamer had more than 900 people watching his stream, and he opened this page, and showed how to vote. He didn't tell his audience to explicitly vote for my map. He just showed some examples from the top part of the page (and he read aloud some votes with the maps sand storm and lights out).
The result: out of more than 900 viewers, only 1 people voted: maxwelldark5. But, guess what, he didn't pick 2 maps, and he didn't provide his bnet tag. So his vote is not valid.
And... the most funny thing: the streamer who spent a couple of minutes showing the page didn't vote

I mean... isn't there any chance people is voting for my map because they liked it the most?

Not sure what's going on with peruvian love but why are we beating it down? So what if they made accounts just to vote for a map they like. What's the problem with that? do you really think they are trying to manipulate a poll? I see so many familiar names also voting for Testbugs map Paranoid Android XXL. Not to mention only 5 pages worth of votes and we are already calling it quits. 10 days before the competition ends.
All of the maps are fantastic creations, and I've been impressed with each and every mapmaker bringing their own flavor to this contest. I'm not sure how this thread turned so sour over the perceived idea that this voting system is rigged. I'm sorry minerals it isn't turning into something you wanted, but maybe we can give credit to a less noticed community on TL. Many of the players have been participating in BWCL and random tournaments from Defiler.ru to their own tournaments such as Deathfates Proleague and Team league.

Hi, i'm contacting all the new users telling them LATAM can show their support to the StarCraft Community by editing their posts and erasing their votes.
I noticed Paranoid Android is still winning the competition even if we remove thier votes. So, removing their votes won't affect the results.
Removing their votes might affect our relations with the LATAM community, but maybe i can prepare a nice message to them. Explaining we LATAM can win this competition sending love instead of votes (and waiting for european and american voters to decide what's their favorite map).
I asked most of these players why did they vote for my map, and looks like the main reason is this: if they want a 1v1 map, they will pick Sylphid, Eclipse, Vermeer or Poly. But, if they want a 2v2 map, Paranoid Android is a decent option. Paranoid Android has also been selected for the 2v2 BSL, so many LATAM streamers are practicing on PA during their streams. So the LATAM community is seeing that map everyday on facebook/twitch/youtube.
Maybe they just don't see the need of a new 1v1 map... They explicitly told me that if they want a super new 1v1 map for a tournament, they would just use the map Neo Rush Hour (link here: http://www.panschk.de/mappage/comments.php?mapid=5533) but they would use Neo Rush hour TOGETHER with Sylphid, Eclipse, Vermeer and Poly.
+ Show Spoiler +I also think i accidentally blocked/reduced the chances of voting for a 1v1 map among LATAM voters because i submitted Neo Rush hour to most of the tournaments in LATAM. I've been talking to every tournament organizer asking them to include Neo Rush in their tournaments since january, so the LATAM community is completely aware of the existance of that map. I even sponsored many games on Neo Rush Hour so maybe they just can't find space for another 1v1 map in the short term and mid term

1. Lights Out 2. Sand Storm Jesuswhips#1594
I enjoy this popularity contest, I pick maps I have fun playing on as do others.

I saw a lot of people supporting the "Paraoid Android" map because it's a good map and it was selected by the BSL for 2v2 But the "preference that many mention" is totally out of place because they believe that nationality influences, if they have problems with that kind of thing, they should not claim the participant but the organizers for giving those rules where the public decides which map is the better.
Next time, put special juries to select maps and don't let the Starcraft community vote or select a map, the reason for the vote doesn't matter, the rules are not being broken, everything is within the parameters that the organization set.
They should control their comments more and stop blaming those who are not to blame for having support

Best thing you could've done is ask the admins whether it would be OK to promote (if that's the right word) the map among X community.
Even if the intention was good, the fact that we have many new users registered specifically to vote in this thread is suspect.
As you can see, you've opened Pandora's box both for the people in the thread and for the LATAM people.
I'm certain that for future map contests with community voting the rules will be more strict, which is a good thing. And the current case will serve as a good but unfortunate example.

1. Lights out 2. PA
Tough call between PA and sandstorm tbh but i m more of a 2v2 player originally and PA s fantastic in 2v2
On the "controversy", bringing latam members here on TL, and have them vote here is great. We need to bridge that gap. A South American vote should be worth the same as any other vote. They might be new to TL but most of them gave their ID and they are all well established respected players.
I would vouch for all the ones I know who I've seen in BWCL and Nation wars over the last decade. I can name check all of them if that s needed.
Edit: Having a filter for new accounts in the contest to prevent suspicious activity is fine, having the work around of giving your bnet ID to prove you are a legit player is also great. These votes should count!

This is a world wide map contest. Nothing wrong was done here, and quite frankly, anyone saying otherwise is full of bullocks.
Newsflash: I voted paranoied Android because it is the best map of this contest and it deserves to win, plus it is a 2vs2 map, it reeks of python, and I’ m loving it. No one contacted me or in any way asked me for a vote, I only know 1 South American sc player by name and have never even dm’ ed with him directly.
Also I am European, Italian to be precise, and I casted my vote, my 2 cents, my opinion, so yeah, sue me.
Or rather, admins please temp ban me, because someone needs to take the fall for this, and I volonteer for that shit.

This is a very strong point.
Ideally, every voter would be completely unbiased, consider every map equally, and vote purely on the quality of the map. Let's not pretend that's anywhere close to how it works when you have open voting, and when there were such a large number of maps in the contest. Maybe a trusted group of high level active players (equal # of each race) could be an alternative in the future.

Dear admins, in Spanish, Lights Out is translated as Luces Apagadas. Bolivian female player Tytat wrote Lights Out in Spanish... maybe as a form of protest...
Please do not discard Tytat's vote just because she wrote Lights Out in Spanish 🙏🙏🙏 i'll try to contact her to ask her to please write the map names in english.

Looks like testbug been doing his homework for this compared to other mapmakers ? He even asked me for advice about his maps. Honestly is impressive he got that many new people to register on TL to vote for his map. And if those voters actually enjoy the maps they voting for i dont really see a problem. I mean is super obvious someone asked them to vote for this but is not against the rules either.

Not swaying votes has always been an agreed upon gentleman’s rule for my contests and this is exactly why. “No cheating” shouldn’t have to be written in the rules. It’s just so out of hand now that the fun in this event has been destroyed, at least for myself. They may continue the nwmc series after this but I plan on moving on. It’s been fun and I applaud the progress the community of mappers have made over the last few years.

I agree with Aris, the rules must be clear from the beginning and nothing must be assumed. Testbug has not broken any rules.
Please let's avoid comments that sound racist, we are few, let's respect each other.

And that's amazing! thank you for your votes!

btw, i'm the author of Paranoid Android XXL and coauthor of Champion. I also collaborated with Lights Out (but i'm not a coauthor of Lights Out, I just spent some hours helping the author because he is my friend).
I'm glad to know the 2 maps in which I am an author or co-author are in the grand finals, together with Lights Out, a map in which I spent many hours.
Right now, i'm working on a new version of Lights Out, and we'll use that map on a female tournament!! with female players from different countries!

The rules state that Voting ends May 25, 16:00 CEST / 23:00 KR Some time after that, the winner should be declared, and so on and so forth; I trust minerals or whoever are the admins of this to do the right thing, and call the shots in a fair and square way; even though you have pulled out, please keep the banner up, and if you want to call it quits after that sure, no problemo. I trust in you minerals, to do the right thing, and overcome your emotional field; I know you have it in you to do that; think about it;

I still think Minerals shouldn't have pulled out from the competition last second, even if the results are skewed for obvious reasons.

Way to make your reputation in the community that of a sore loser. GJ Minerals.
And I even agree to some extent that it's obviously going to lead to biased voting when a participant is promoting the contest to a new audience. But so has Minerals (and other mappers) done as well with the previous rounds of NWMC. Testbug just did it towards a new (and the largest foreign) audience. Makes one wonder if future map contests should have a bit of a different format, which isn't as likely to become a personal popularity contest.
Quite sad for the participants/mappers who aren't direct parties, but still affected by this drama.

Well, my impression is that in raw numbers the Latam scene/playerbase is bigger than the non-Latam foreign scene. Korean streamers face Latam foreigners significantly more than they face non-Latam foreigners, Liquipedia has quite a few more Latam events than non-Latam, etc. Even if it isn't (I don't have solid proof to present right now), it's still a very sizeable scene which normally doesn't post much on TL - so a big shift in the demographics of the vote.
Also hypothetically, Korean mappers could be going around and posting NWMC on fmkorea/ygosu and reach an even bigger audience (who'd presumably vote for "their" maps), but as far as I know, they don't.

We have advertised for voting on EDAC (largest Korean map site) and the ASL forum on afreeca. The participants we got from there didn’t result in a flood of votes for predominantly one map. So far there haven’t been any issues like this and everything has been pretty smooth sailing up until this point.
We’re working on a solution to move forward and probably should shadow TLMC methods from now on.
