Just hope some nices games, with tense micro and crazy strats.. Anyway, it's always hard to say, but the winner of this semi have a very high probability to win the finals...

Honestly this thing with the "tough" match ups is an artifact from the dawn of the broodwar where people mechanics and strategies were developing imo. Nowadays the progamers mechanics and game knowledge is way above than the in game infrastructure that made some plays, mechanics and units abilities look harder or a bit unfair for one race or another. Even TvT is not a tough match anymore imo, maybe PvZ is the only match left where you can say its tough for the protoss, but only because the race maybe objectively lacks some tools to deal with zerg's unpredictability all the time, but its a big maybe

Also, if anything, i would say PvZ is the one “hard” match up that has become more even as zergs seem to dedicate much more practice time to ZvT and rely on winning ZvP with hydra busts and early aggression. If you dont think that TvP is harder than TvZ then I guess every Terran besides Flash is just incompetant against Protoss?

That game 3 was a real test of endurance, I'm surprised both of them still had that much fight afterwards. And last going 2:0 on blockchain, that being the map every other terran has had such problems versus protoss on. This whole ro4 has been such a joy, definitely the best semis in ASL's history, usually we get one close one and one stomp, it's so rare to have 2 solid, entertaining bo5s where both players are really giving it everything. As much as I was hoping for an Effort:Last final, I'm really happy with tonight's result. Going back over their most recent live contest (KSL season 1) I had forgetten that Mini went 3:0, then 1:3 versus Last in the group stage. This gives me a lot of hope for a much closer finals than I think a lot of people expect, even if Last is on fire like he is now. Bring on the Rain:Effort 3/4 match, I don't think we've ever had one quite that good.

WHY IS TERRAN NOT WALLING OFF HIS EXPANSIONS?!?

Both players played their hearts out and that game 3 was like the prime example of how difficult late game TvP can get against such an amazing toss player like Rain who knows how to wear down his opponent. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a great TvP series and I'd say this was as entertaining as Flash vs Snow in ASL5. Both 3rd and 4th wasnt walled off, depots were guarding tanks, and there were nothing to stop Rain from roaming around in both Lasts expansions, so last was just moving his army left and right and could barely move out to push... Im wondering are terrans forgot how to wall of after the fighing spirit era or they dont do it because they dont want to spend extra time to figure out the proper walls for new maps? His open entrances to expos were clearly the reason he couldnt do anytning with his macro advantage.

Keep in mind that walling also means that if Rain recalled any of these walled bases, then Last has a harder time moving his army back to save them in time since the mech army is immobile and can be kinda clunky. Furthermore, I think you meant the 4th and 5th since the 3rd base for Last was the one at 2. Suffice to say, I was watching his resources closely and he was extremely busy keeping his macro going which is very demanding to do as well as try to defend and be aggressive when he could. Add on the fact that once Rain started being aggressive, he gave him no time to even think about walling as well.

Edit: I was watching while also trying to put a desk thing together but I don't remember any fast nexii in any of the games? Well maybe in game 5? But the "free" fast nexus on Blockchain is kind of a special case, as was Last's response.

For some reason feels like he takes more worse fights than other tosses. Like hell just go macro god and chuck things at the Terran, Man that was really excellent. I really like having some cheese mixed in and both spiced it up nicely. Lasts macro is like a rogue ai

Not the most polished semifinal, but this was one of the most epic for sure, along with Effort-Mini. Starcraft e-sport scene deserves champions from the three races. And there aren't many tosses around. Rain should do it. C'mon, even for the sake of Busu and his fans. At least Rain and his brutal statistics in SC and SC2! I got to say that in those impossible mechanics only Flash is No1 and Bisu at some unit movements, but then it comes Rain, who deserves more than one ASL. Then he can happily retire!

In fact I like Last as a player and he got some cool decisions in his pocket. But he is not the best yet. Not as Effort or Rain. And those lucky proxy factory at the end... I have to admit that Last deserved a 5th deciders match, he deserved one more chance. Not the most polished semifinal, but this was one of the most epic for sure, along with Effort-Mini. Winning championships isn't about "deserving to win" it is about actually beating opponents and it turns out that Rain isn't good enough to beat the other finalist. This is a competitive scene where skill matters the most and it doesn't matter if somebody deserved to win if that player doesn't have the skills to do it. Viewing experience is all about enjoyment. I would still vote a pvt finals over pvp finals. Unless pvp is actually more fun as a spectator but it isn't I understand the frustration but there is still a chance for a "toss champion" with mini on the finals.

I love Rain and his skillset seems currently to be unsurmountable by any other protoss but this scumbaggery of his for 3 of the games, it just deserved to be punished. The icing for Last was the proxt factory - "Here, take some of this crap you've been feeding me, does it feel good? I bet it does. Now die."

Rain lost and I fully accept that. It's no luck, it is a part of the game and congrats to Last, as I said, he deserved match 5! I was teased by predictions especially by the neutral spectators in the forum, because Rain showed better results recently, especially against Last. From this perspective I was a neutral viewer who enjoyed the other semifinal and I expected Effort (logic) to win, and I didn't give a damn how the match up in the final will be either ZvT or ZvP. Cheers!

Rain did a few small mistakes that kinda bothered me and gave a match or two a slightly less satisfying end than I had hoped. But man, truly great games.

Not only because I was rooting for Last, but also because there'll be no PvP finals xD I'm cheering for Last to win, especially since I reckon his wrist problems gives him limited time left. However, I don't mind Mini winning either. I really feel like he's greatness in the making and it'd be cool if this was his time to shine and start to truly unleashing it. I'm honestly happy either way, as far as the finals goes! At least if they keep up the level of play and entertainment as seen in these semi-finals.

Game 1 - proxy gateway Game 2 - proxy gateway x 2 Game 3 - proxy starport Game 4 - proxy barracks Game 5 - proxy factory Commentary was great. Tasteless describing Rain's attacking in game 3 as a see-saw was a great metaphor. Artosis describing Game 3 as "one of those campaign missions where the objective is to survive for 30 minutes" and then noting that Last tapped out at 29:59 was hilarious.

And might as well say congrats to Mini as well -- he was a much bigger underdog there but managed to pull out a very convincing series win. Looking forward to both the finals and 3rd place matches!

Mini vs effort was very good, but this one stole the show. This was the real championship. I just have a hard time believing Mini will beat last unless he pulls a few rabbits out of the hat.
