Hello everyone,
My bot is now almost finished for the CIG. Due to the deadline I won't be able to test the new text mined strategies and have decided to let it out of the submission (see in spoiler tag above). So to test it, I decided to organize another BWAPI mini tour.
The format is going to be a Ro16 double elimination with a Bo3 winners bracket, Bo1 losers bracket and a Bo5 grand finals. Each game starts on fighting spirit. The loser picks the next map. The map pool can be found on the wiki.
No winner bracket advantage in the grand finals.
Tournament information:
In this tournament, both human players and bots are allowed to sign on. If more than 16 players sign-in, only the Quarterfinals till Winners Bracket is Bo3. The rest of the winners brackets will then be Bo1 (Ro16,Ro32).
The tournament will be held at 8 August 2015. The tournament starts at 11:15 (AM) CEST. Registration is possible till 10:30 (AM) CEST. Checking in is possible from 10:30 - 11:00 CEST , after which the brackets will be generated and put of defiler.ru and liquidpedia.
Because some bot developers cannot be available at that time due to time-zones, I am going to operate three bots alongside my own bot. This service is first come, first served for all bot developers who cannot be online at the given time due to time-zones.
Registering:
Unlike the previous two tournaments, this tournament is going to use the defiler.ru system (#2 only used it for registration and check-in). Everyone who wants to register can sign up at http://defiler.ru/tourney/?t=427 . Do keep in mind that your unit that you registered with is the race that you will use during the tournament (no race picking or random allowed). There is no rank requirement for both bots and human players.
In order to register a bot: sign-up on defiler.ru but also indicate if you are going to operate your own bot. You can pm me or post about it in this topic.
If you aren't available at the time that the tournament starts, you can send me the DLL/Java of your bot and I will immediately start Bo3 and Bo1 matches myself the moment that I download the DLL/Java (the Bo5 finals will be run at the actually tournament if 2 bots reach it). Do note that my bot is still in development. So my bot might play differently in the bot match that in the actual competition.
Sending a DLL is possible till Friday 7 August 23:00 CEST.
Initial seeding:
Initial seeding is performed by the random seeding of the defiler.ru tournament system.
Prize money:
I currently have a paysafe card of €11.73 (a €10 card and a €1.73 card I still have left over) and a paysafe card of €10 available for the first place and second place respectively. Both bot developers and human players are eligible for this prize money.
Keep in mind that a paysafe card isn't accepted everywhere. You can ofc gift your paysafe card to someone who can use it.
Tournament system:
The bracket will be available at http://defiler.ru/tourney/?t=427 and will be kept up-to-date on the team liquid wiki:

Livestream/casting
I am not going to Livestream/cast this tournament as it is progressing. I will upload a VOD of the bot games from this tournament after it is done (casts from tour #2 will be done before this tour starts). If anyone else wants to livestream and/or cast this tournament, post it here in TL and I will get in contact with you.
Other information:
- No race picking. You only use the race that you registered with.
- Everyone is allowed to use the observer version of a map, but I would advise bot operators to instead give the replays to the casters. This due to the fact that the high apm can cause lag if an observer is present. In bot games it is even advisable to only play FFA or melee, because some UMS map triggers can crash a bot.
- Bot developers are allowed to let someone other than their-self or me operate their bot. As long as that person is available at 11:15 CEST and can stay for all games that the bot has to play. If the operator has to leave, all further games that the bot has to play are automatically forfeit.
- Bot developers are eligible for prize money if their bot wins. Even if they are not operating their own bot.
- Bot operator should not use Anti-hack as it conflicts with the BWAPI. Human players should have AH on the whole tournament, unless they are playing against a bot. Against a bot they can turn AH off and use

- BWAPI bots should have the "complete map information" flag set to disabled (by default it is). They are allowed to put the "user input" flag to true for chat purposes only.
