it's my pleasure to announce to you the Ger Koth series.
Background: The german players MasterRey and RedWarrior played a Grudgematch for fun, that was covered by the german BW skype Group. When MasterRey came out victorious, he proclaimed himself King of the german Broodwar scene. Even so it was only meant as a joke,Cryoc stepped up to challenge him! When i realised what was going on, i directly thought: hey let's make an event of this and make the KotH an ongoing series. But as the skype Group has a rather limited player pool, i intended to make it open to all german players.
Why not international?: While foreign Broodwar isn't dead but very alive, contrary to what some people try to tell us, i have noticed a reduction in national scenes, that were quite active in the past. I hope to bring some activity back to the geman community by hosting an event, that centers on it's players and reactivates it's infrastructure. Therefore i explicitly invite all german players to challenge the King and take part in this event.
When: Thursday, 13.2. 20 CET, in english language
Who: MasterRey, our current King, will be challenged by no other than Cryoc, who has quite a reputation for himself as strong foreigner, member and regular player for IFU in STL and various other events. MasterRey on the other hand is a former B Protoss user, who recently has worked to reach his old strength and he has sure trained a lot for this. So while Cryoc is sure the favorite in this match an upset is not impossible!
Format: Best of 5, the mappool is the current MotW of ICCUP, may change for future events.
Casters: Redwarrior and myself will try to commentate the event as entertaining as possible
Prize: Fame and Glory! The sponsors haven't run in my door yet...
Future events: When the Ger Koth proves to be an interesting event, the next Chalenge will most likely be played in march. German players, that wish to challenge the King can do so in a corresponding thread on inStarcraft.de The challenger will be chosen by the organizing staff.
edit: for Russia: Stream is also on defiler.ru! is linked under "RedW4rr10r"

won't happen in the near future. Completely out of training and no real motivation/time to play 40+ games to get back. Cryoc/Rey are far better than me anyhow, so go and watch two rather skilled players than a total scrub.
Rey challenged greenelve2 and greenelve2 accpted (can prove it, but text would be in german (bandit) ), but for some odd reason, it seems like i have to challenge him and put my name on the like everyone else. :/

Gecko will get his turn, whenever he feels ready for it (;
@elve: yes you did, yes i did see the textlog and yes you will have to challenge the king. Sorry pal (;

I bet you will be the first in line, when I would be on the throne right? :D

sure, but what's the gain with 5 viewers on stream, that didnt need this newspiece because i told them all in Person and they did contribute to the event? the german scene is quite small after all.
I hope to interest the english speaking community as well and i believe that won't happen if we cast in german, coz are you going to listen to it? German doesn't sound as sexy as korean btw ^^

haha i like that, will do. Nice idea by chrissl, didnt read the spoiler before. A bit of german "atmosphere" will carry over anyway, since my english is... you know. accentuated

sure maybe english is most spoken, but most people watch casts in korean. The problem isn't the translation because let's be honest, most people know anything that an amateur foreigner will be doing at any level, but rather the excitement and inflexions in the cast.

Well yeah you got a point. On the other hand excitement translates better if you understand the caster

Thanks to everybody who contributed. Chrisolo for Banner and Replay overlay as well as tech advice, Highfish for general advice, Gecko for advice as well as Liquipedia page (coming soon TM), Redwarrior for casting and everybody who i forgot xD
It was a treat for me. A thread will go up on instarcraft.de soon (couple of days max) where players can apply that want to challenge cryoc!
Thx to both players for participating, ReY and Cryoc, hope you guys enjoyed it (;
Alright! First of all I want to thank everyone involved to make the yesterday's event happen, just as Cele did above me :-) Especially I want to thank Chrisolo. He provided me with a ton of cool stuff i.e. the overlay, this amazing intro + Show Spoiler +

and all the technical advises he gave to me! Without his help, the stream would have been less cool :-)
