I had a lot of fun today even though I didn't get to play (not like I was really trying to but you know what I mean ^^). I had a great time and I hope the participants and spectators did as well.

All maps will be using the version downloadable on TL, mind numbers/versions (Neo/X/3/II).
For each Bo3, each player will have 2 downvotes.
For each Bo5, each player will have 1 downvote.
ANY SORT OF WHINING OR SC2/WC3/LOL/DOTA/DOTA2/WHATEVER THE FUCK PLAYING DURING THE TOURNAMENT BY PARTICIPATING PLAYERS RESULTS IN INSTANT BAN FOR LIFE.
This is an open invitation to everyone who is interested in participating in some great LAN 1v1 and 'for fun' (READ AS: UMS) play.
If possible we will try to set up obsing/spectating through the big screen TV which I am no longer sure still exists.

The rule isn't just opinion on SC2, We've literally had parts of tournaments held up because someone wants to play LoL or in my case, War3 or some other nonsense.

Answers to questions:
1) All ages welcome, be informed that there will most likely be light drinking during and after the event, of course no one will force alcohol on minors but be advised that there will be drinking around you.
2) There will also 100% be smoking of cigarettes, but outdoors obviously.
3) Yes bringing cameras would be great, dedicated photo taking very much invited!
4) Yes you must skip class/ignore responsibilities to come.
5) In the event of insufficient computers available (which seems possible now that we know there are 20 and because some people are tentative), the tournament will be determined by single elimination and the first round will be Bo1 in order to more quickly progress the tournament. After that, any free computers will be used for fun games, most likely.
6) Yes, the reason there is a ban on other games during the tournament by tournament participants is due to the extra downtime it tends to create when people play other games during the tournament. Also, this is A BROOD WAR EVENT. Support e-sports!BROOD WAR!

I can take wide angle shots with my SLR, I cannot cast there as my audio setup is way too big but I could bring my external HD and see if I can load up all the replays and organize them into a replay pack for everyone if that is allowed? As long as you have any iPhone after the 4 you have a 720p movie camera in your pocket I'm sure someone that is dropping by will have a iPhone lying around in their pocket.

Yeah, I dunno what the current setup is as far as casting goes. the old Cybercraft setup was pretty good for on-site casting, but it's changed drastically. Once all this crap clears up, I'll see if I can run down there this weekend and give it a once over on whether or not there can be onsite casting. It's most likely too short a notice to set up a streaming option, but that's a question for the Owners if nothing else.
As an aside, if I do get permission, does someone have a streaming capable laptop and reasonable experience with Xsplit?

I have experience with xsplit as I cast with it daily, however I do not have a laptop worthy of streaming

Well that solves one half of the Streaming setup, Maybe ZnF can lend us his laptop? He streams BW from it IIRC.

1. I don't have a caster lined up
2. I don't even know if we can cast
3. I'm not sure if I want to manually upload replays off each machine or waste players' time making THEM upload it and also if it's anything like before, there won't be autosave so mad replays going to get lost anyways
4. I wouldn't cast the replays after the event even if they existed, but if they do obv. someone is free to take over

Let me make something clear: I don't think that having VODs or even every replay available, having what will most probably (statistically) be D rank commentary, or having streams is essential to the successful running of this tournament. It's fairly simple: show up, play games, have fun.
So, if someone wants to do all these things that people are requesting, be my guest - as long as it is all set up and taken care of before game time, no bullshit. But, I personally will not be doing any of that stuff.
Now onto more important things:
According to something I vaguely remember hearing while I was tripping is that due to the amount of computers, we won't be able to make reservations, and that the owner of the LAN Cafe is pissed at me for not telling him about it or something? Players shouldn't worry too much about the latter point, at the end of the day we will all be paying customers and wtf is he going to do, complain about the manner in which we give him one of his more profitable business days? I don't think so. Either way, I'd like people in the know to clarify the situation to me so that I know for sure that it's really as unserious as I gathered it to be at the Fallcraft thing.

To clarify on behalf of Cybercraft, the owners have no idea this is happening,
because you never bothered to tell them, or run it by them
I run the place on Saturdays so I'm letting this go on for sake of the community
Now to address the other issues:
- Streaming is a no go, not for this event at least, dedicated streaming/broadcasting station is in the works
- Replays can be retrieved if you want to bother with it, but don't expect me to do it myself
- If you can give me a decent headcount I can reserve up to 10 computers for the event,
you can run all tournament matches on those computers, the rest will be first come basis
- It does get busy in the late afternoon so if possible please use up the reserved computers first
- We are getting 20 more computers because management plans on supporting future tournaments and events so in the future it'd be beneficial to talk with them about it
For the record this event never happened and all Cybercraft house rules still applies

JPak I might be taking pictures and stuff but I can lend you my External HD if that helps, I'd offer my hand out to cast afterwards. If there is a streaming station I could bring my portable headset which is half decent if that is what you want and webcam if those are not already there of course if this is possible and if you want it. I do have a xsplit paid subscriptions so that might help

Smartphone OP. I'll also bring my netbook so that I can sort the replays and give them to you in a nice format.
I can also give Certified the maps well beforehand (let's say about a week before) so that he can put it in there.

I can assure you that there is no longer any "devastation", especially as far as Queens is concerned, which I don't think was hit hard at all (the people I know in Queens didn't even lose internet or TV). The main problems were flooding and power outages. Everything in NYC is pretty much back to normal now. If you don't feel like coming and want to dodge, fine. Just don't use the hurricane as an excuse.

From what I gather, the main places still recovering are southen staten island, the very tip of lower manhattan (basically under the ferry terminal),and Southern parts of brooklyn within NYC. Basically only the areas taking the full brunt of the incoming waves, and none of them are relevant transportation-wise. All there are is outages of some Brooklyn lines near their ends for the most part. LIRR, PATH, the tunnels/bridges and so forth are fully (Or almost fully) back on line.

Not that I can think of off-hand. The only common issue I could possibly forsee can't easily be tested\fixed beforehand (LAN and version connectivity between the computers)

I had a lot of fun today even though I didn't get to play (not like I was really trying to but you know what I mean ^^). I had a great time and I hope the participants and spectators did as well.
I want to give the following shout outs to:
Dims the man of the hour for providing more than half of the eventual loot!
Jpak for taking time out of his day to do most of the administrator prep stuff I would have had to do!
Certified for being an understanding and supportive host!
Everyone that showed up for playing great games and coming out to support ESPORTS errr fuck that shit, BROOD WAR FOR LIFE!~
