That's the thing. Calm could spend all of his time to prepare specifically for Flash and target his weaknesses. Since this is proleague and they play so many games, he can't really prepare for Mind, who probably will play a watered down, less fragile version of Flash's style.
I still don't think Mind will win but I don't think Calm will stomp him completely (as much as I'd love Calm keep playing that quality of Starcraft). The Calm that played against Flash was totally different to the Calm that played against Fantasy and Light.
On January 03 2010 12:19 Avidkeystamper wrote: All these games look so damn even except the fourth.
4th looks even to me, Mind's TvZ is every bit as good as Calm's ZvT, I mean yea he took a game off Flash and played a long 3rd game, but hes not consistently monstereous zvt like zero or jaedong are. The consistent strange quality of games he produces vs Fantasy is proof of this, he was also torn apart by Light, but anyway this is proleague... I believe the match will be dictated by the build calm uses..and hes known to use some interesting builds. Ill put my money on Mind though.
Bogus vs Shine is hard to predict. Bogus makes a lot of marines, his control isnt the greatest but his overall direction and gameplan is usually somewhat solid..shine has good muta micro and does interesting stuff..I have no clue what will happen here.
STX might be saving Hwasin to snipe Shine in the ace match, although WeMade's never sent out Shine for ace. WeMade will be expecting Hwasin and send out Mind, since the map is Terran favored, or Pure as a Terran sniper.

Mind should beat Calm, I feel, but luckily for Calm, there's a lot of games Mind "should" have won this year and hasn't.
As for Pure vs Kal, it's a toss up. Though I am fo' sho counting on the future MSL champion (/hope) to win.
Roro vs hero... Dammit, hero. It's time to do something right for a change.

didn't bogus get raped by kwanro?
Everyone gets raped by Kwanro once. It's a right of passage these days ^^
First defiler out, consume ready, swarm over rines, one tank caught, he's going for Shine's t hird and breaks the ramp (all of one lurker). Rest of the tanks get caught and shine brings his army over and cleans up rest of Bogus' army.
Nydus exit being built before the creep disappears, defiler/lurker drop does modest damage (would have done more if Shine had bothered to target SCVs).
Shine is dropping like mad! This one seems like it'll work a little better than last one.
Bogus manages to clean up an attackk, but his units are plagued and 3 sunkens kill alot of rines. Some zerglings and a defiler cleans up rest. Dropship gets owned. Hero muta kills 2-3 sci vessels.
Shine ahead now IMO, his expos are running (looks like they are from the minimap).
Lol muta out but all the plagued vessels are home. Attack is cleaned up but he lost both his 7 which was building and his top left nat.
Hahahaha slow hydra catches 1 SV. Bogus attacking the third, but it looks like shine will hold. Ultras and lings clean up. DSHIP going for top left but ultras there to clean up as it drops.
On January 03 2010 13:56 Waxangel wrote: shine's play really makes me laugh whether it's good or bad
It's bad.
Bogus has an epic vessel cloud. He's also playing like fantasy did against JD on Outsider, stocking up on tanks and delaying with medic/marine. He takes out Shine's second nat at 10:30.

as long as shine plays good zvp i don't care if his zvt is like this : )
Seriously, put by.hero on the bench and just send out July. His ZvZ ain't great, but he'll win some ZvT's and ZvP's here and there, and by.hero doesn't seem to be winning anything at all... And I'd just rather see July.

hes barely 40% for his career. hes having a good season, but hes terrible most of the time, evident in most of his losses oh, and games vs Anytime, Orion, ForGG, hero ZvZ, and Canata will help your win % quite a bit

what losses? Other than being rofl stomped by bisu and jaedong a few times, roro's basically cruised through proleague? Positive record this season means hes not terrible "most of the time" unless terrible is enough to do be a damn valuable player in proleague now a days, rofl.

most of the time means not just the last month? seriously man i even said hes having a good season. He has padded his stats with wins over very low-caliber players and losses badly to the good ones. most of the time he plays pretty horribly, he IS DOING MUCH BETTER VERY RECENTLY

Yea then theyll end up like jaedong vs sea...massively behind on econ, and then get killed.
These types of strategies are good way to get some confidence back after slumping so hard. WeMade needs Mind to be in good mental health, and this will certainly help that.
I can't lie: it was a well prepared cheese. Even though I'm quite, quite bitter. I've always defended cheese, and now that it's been used against my favorite player, I have no choice but to applaud what Mind did.
Calm for ace would be nice because I'm certain he'll take it against pretty much anybody. Kal is a likely choice though, and I can't envision him coming anywhere close to losing. He's easily in the top 2 Protoss atm.
FUCK MY LIFE. FPL IS SOO FUCKING GOING TO DIE. DAMN YOU RORO. on the other hand, as long as Kal rapes this newb its only -2 points for me. KAL DONT YOU DARE LOSE TO A 2-HATCH HYDRA BREAK DAMMIT

There's actually a really healthy competition for the protoss throne that Bisu has essentially put up for auction. Stork as always has a toehold, and Movie's got a serious chance, but right now Kal might be playing better than any of them.

Yeah, I'm saying top 2 is Stork and Kal, order debatable. Movie is up there, but I really don't think he's up to scratch compared to those two dragons.

I think Calm reacted poorly. He should have placed his second hatch over the ramp and broke it with sunkens, then transition into 3 hatch.

I really agree with this. I wanted to put Kal higher on the PR this month but there just wasn't enough evidence to say that yea, he's the real deal. He's doing the best with what he can get though. Kal and Stork are really really really fucing good atm, and once movie stops making stupid mistakes he's going to be a beast as well.

He has to be able to defend the hatch first though. Otherwise marines would just kill it.

Well Zero was the same until recently...Roro is an up and coming player and debuted his skillset last season with basically beastly zvt, which he still has.his zvz is fairly solid these days, and his zvp is improving, that being said I think Kal is the favorite but Roro winning with some crazy onslaught wouldnt suprise me in the least.
And Kal's been doing well but his opponents havent been the greatest, honestly Id put Violet's accomplishments over Kal at the moment, even if Violet is very gay and abusive wins over Sea,Mind and others are very impressive moreso than beating hyuk and typeb.
Kal gets 1 OL of Roro's at his main, and he's gonna get another one in his main. Hmm two OL down for Roro.. Not a good thing. Scourge out for Roro now though, so I think he'll be fine.

Doom drop for Roro. Kal has 6 cannons in his base but they are all at mineral line while Roro going after the production. EPIC FAIL. GETS 1 GATEWAY AND A FEW ZEALOTS FOR ALL HIS EFFORTS
I think Kal has totally snuck up upon us, because he's always solid, but this is an ELO peak from him, and he's deep in the MSL. Hopefully we'll see him climb in next month's PR.

Well expanding would of helped his economy going, I don't why he was staying on 4 bases, not to mention he didn't even get to build a defiler mount. Plague would of helped. As you can tell I was rooting for RoRo to win.
I'm also puzzled why WeMade FOX continues to send Roro. They have both Shine and Mind to use, and Roro also has to practice for 2 matches. For a player at his skill-level, I would have him just prepare for one.

Because Shine's ZvT is terrible. Bogus made him look like a chump, you think that against Hwasin he'd stand a chance? Think of it like this, STX had two candidates:
Hwasin, since it is a Terran favored map and their best players are Zerg, in which case, Shine would have a 20-30% chance at best, or Kal, in which let's give him a whopping 60-65%. RorO on the other hand would have had 40-50% against Hwasin, but only 40-45% against Kal. From the coaches view, RorO was the better gamble. Of course, the STX coach just thought "he's going to send someone who practiced vT because of the map. That's not Shine. And RorO even won today so that means his chances will be better. And so did Kal, so he's not having a bad day."
