Bogus' wraiths killed all of Kwanro's guardians
but Kwanro's 0/0 mutas do so much damage against Bogus' 1/1 marines

Did wraiths just completely change the outcome of this game?

Sexy wraith raids though!

ive never seen a zerg beat terran with gaurdians... or even if i have, i can't remember. i do remember the times gaurdians have failed though --> jaedong v flash katrina, savior vs flash blue storm... some other ones... hero vs light the previous game, and now this game
|
What happened during hero vs Light ? That seemed pretty short. Damn, I thought MSL would begin in half an hour :')
|
How was hero vs light? 2 games over that fast is T_T
EDIT: What ^ that guy said.
|

hero went guardians and lost
|
Kwanro had such good gas and economy. Shoulda just transitioned to lings/defilers.
My C- level of understanding is that guardians are used to slow terrans down and cripple their economy or take out tech buildings so u can transition into something else and win
|
2 guardian games back to back? Wtf zerg?
EDIT: I bet Bogus helped Hero practice a bunch and just was like 'lol, really?' when Kwanro busted the guards out.
|
On December 19 2009 17:58 thopol wrote: How was hero vs light? 2 games over that fast is T_T
very similar to kwanro vs bogus, except irradiate beat the gaurds/mutas instead of wraiths. early on, lots of muta harass, got light to lift his natural's command for a good 5 minutes, transitioned to gaurdians on three gas... ran out of resources (no drones, just mutas), light started irradiating everything, terran wins.
|
Blizzard needs to release a patch to make Zerg stronger by removing the Greater Spire from the game.
|
you cant transition off that build, its basically an allin if you spend gas on anything but mutas/guards it cant work, but contrary to what always seems to happen in tv games it is a pretty strong build.

Thanks a lot for the summary. I was excited for that game and bummed I missed it.

Just change the name to Lesser Spire and they'll understand.
|
When I logged on Bogus just finished his starports and, wow...his marine micro seemed quite bad, so many losses to almost nothing. Thought it was over then I saw Kwanro hadn't nothing to transition with. Still, with so much marines wasted, perhaps going mutaling could have broken the nat and sealed that game in Kwanro's favor ?

It happened a couple of times in PL TypeB vs Fantasy Hero vs Ruby Shine vs Really I think?

I think the better question would be: When was the last time a Zerg player went ALL IN with guardians and won? Guardians as transitionary units are extremely versatile and safe.
|
Replay shows Bogus distracted a bunch of mutas by pushing with some mnm, thus allowing his wraiths to snipe guardians while taking less fire.

I remember flash vs Luxury on Troy in the OSL where July won (i think)
Luxury went 3 gas guardians and transitioned well (he used guardians to slow flash's mid game push and then took a 4th and transitioned into ling/defilers)
|
both these zergs need to watch ret and learn how2doinothing. if they had just contained and expanded they would have won ez

If you guys are looking for games where guardians win games just go look at ZvT's on Outsider

But those games on outsider were usually defensive gaurds to transition to stall for ultra/filer/ling
The build they are talking about here is the 2hat muta into 3hat offensive gaurd all or nothing build

yah good point i remember that game too. i think the main difference with these games and that one was there was no muta harass from luxury and as such he wasted very little resources replacing mutas.

saint in a bit of trouble, having to spend no larvae on drones and only go for zerglings whilst kal still pumping probes, now saiint's sim city at his 3rd is slowly dying, there are 2 sunkens there holding up the fort if they go down it could easily be gg

I am very disappointed with this evening's games. Most (read: all) of them were extremely short and or boring resulting from the defeat of gimmicky build orders.
On the very huge, extremely critical, and wholly pleasant upside: the music was not total shit. OGN plays the worst stuff during the OSL and this music (didn't know any of it) was much more punk styled and interesting. I dig a lot.
I also like STX success on the part of Kal, who deserved victory and raped raped raped his way to it, and Hwasin, who neither deserved nor earned it. Bogus won against Kwanro, who is the punching bag who is given legitimacy by some, which makes the punching all the sweeter. Hero lost, but hell, he isn't the greatest player, but still was a bargain in fantasy. Regardless, a nice night for my beloved team.
I can't see this MSL being anything other than extremely fucking sweet after the Ro8 starts, but we seemed to have a weak evening in terms of games (but fucking GLORIOUS for the STX fan) today. I really hope to see some good games in the remainder of this round because I am underwhelmed by the quality of play on the part of the losers tonight.

Terrans 3/0 - Zergs 0/3
somehow Bogus winning Kwanro ain't even a surpise to many of us, even though Kwanro should be easily the better player on paper.

STX went 3-1 tonight, good enough for me!

When Kal uses sairs against Saint, Saint says, "Man, why am I always control-locked? Better save the replay and figure out what happened..." you mean THREE control groups of muta? lol. plus Stork stopped making sairs altogether, pretty huge mistake Yeah. I appreciate the parallel in its way. Really though, the games aren't comparable in the way you mean to indicate. At all. ? i wasnt trying to make a comparison. I still just cant get over the fact that Stork got owned by pure muta when he started with a corsair build XD

It seems to imply that ZvT was the match of the day. I just don't get the significance of mentioning this, particularly with the quality of game demonstrated.

Ain't no way people outside the CJ fanboys are expecting Kwanro to win. He's someone who can make a league only to suffer, and it seems that he's charging headlong into a slump that will only accentuate his humorous deficiencies.
EDIT: Who can't format a goddamn post?

is anyone watching this probe vs scv thing on mbc game

the matchup itself is fail =)

Kwanro is no CJ player anymore, why should we expect him to win? The coach got rid of him in the right time.

This has been a bad few days for Stars players in Starleagues.

kwanro will pull it out 2-1, dont you worry!

all Terrans won, is a bit surprising but not that match given the quality of their opponents...

Saint was caught off guard...hes a very solid zvp player for a long time, some of you people need to brush up on your history, Im sure hell put up a better fight in the next game.

hero vs light was such an intense game, you should definitely check it out
|
I just saw the Light vs. By.Hero at Jon747 game and would recommend it to everyone. Its a very interesting situation. I don't have the best SC knowhow but I'll try summing it up bellow. Spoilers!
+ Show Spoiler +The game starts off standard up until the 8min mark. Hero has a control group of mutas harassing Light. He denies the natural expansion and the army is going down in size as well.. Hero even had guardians to really rub it in. It was three bases for zerg vs. 1 for terran. Light could've gg'd anytime after the 10min mark. In the end he only had 5 marines and 4 vessels vs. Mutas, zerglings and guardians!! The vessels were real Heroes! They threw irradiate at every air-unit, especially the clumped up mutas. Hero did a worthless split killing 6 or so mutalisks. Light puts down his CC in his natural and maynards some scvs there. 6minutes of mutalisk harass by a 3 base zerg and Light is looking for payback.
Light moves out with one control group of marines, one control group of medics and 6 science vessels. Zero's drone saturation is lousy, and his army is a handful of mutas and guardians. Light kills off the army and to EVERYONES surprise - Hero ggs.
Really confusing game, although sick play by light

Hero v. Light was a very interesting game, so was Bogus v. Kwanro. Both games have recurring themes though.

Yay, perfect results IMO. As a Terran fan I really enjoyed the first 3 games, especially Hwasin vs Bonjwa. Great stuff! XD

You guys never give Bogus any fucking credit.
Did you not see how many mutas Kwanro built there? He didn't just build 9 and go back to his economy, he was constantly reinforcing. I'm not so sure he could have just contained and macro'd up with a 4th in that situation.
Bogus is going to be the next big star.

Well is he going to be the next big star, he better change his screen name. How lame it would be for a MSL final intro with Bogus on it?

Never thought Bogus would win over kwanro xD
