dont be myopic. yes, he used up 400 minerals to kill a 300 mineral building. but you're completely forgetting so many other things that a hatchery entails:
- he killed a 300 mineral building
- calm's lair/spire/den was delayed
- calm's drone count suffered a shit load
- calm would have had a gazillion less larvae, and thus units, from 2 bases/hatcheries
- calm would have had to build another hatchery at some point. this 3rd hatchery would have been very very late
- calm would have been running on 2 bases for a while, which would have put him behind economically against a 2 base protoss, no matter if the latter threw away 400 minerals at first. FE is a mineral-rich economy.
- - to kill those cannons calm would have had to sacrifice a good 4-5 lings eventually, thats another 100 minerals
all this to what sacrifice?

- delayed tech, which would have been okay as long as he had protected himself more.
thats it. that cannon rush absolutely paid off.
its a freaking hatchery that got destroyed. thats where zergs get their all units from :S whether the cannon rush was profitable or not should be out of question here...

Ugh obviously my point is that if Calm doesn't do the all-in (which is not a legit counter if the Protoss is not stupid ... it was completely blockable by Pure ... how about you cut two Probes and delay your Archives) then in THAT case Pure is insurmountably ahead in another few minutes.

Thanks for insight. One learns every day. Sincerely, I was not intending to say he had a disadvantage, just that the advantage he got was no as huge as it could have looked like. He fell for the 2hatch muta nevertheless. I suppose it is unwise to neglect the effect the cannon rush on Pure's timings.
