My heart is warm.

LOL Anytime and his badass pose

(Z)OversKy, "Along with these accumulating wins, I'm gaining confidence"
It was more difficult than I originally thought so I increased my practice time

The team won its 7th season victory.
- If we had won the match against Hwaseung and then won today, we could have won a prize for continual wins. We were on a 3 game winning streak when that was broken and even though we won again today, I’m disappointed. Because of our continual wins, I practiced extremely hard for the last game [against Hwaseung] but I lost rather simply.

It seemed the crucial point was when you caught your opponent’s overlord.
- When my scourge flew over to his base, I noticed he had one more drone than me. When I flew over to his nat, I saw he was making an overlord. Because I had made an overlord first instead of a drone and made my units faster, I was sure I could win so I killed the overlord with my mutalisks and initiated the attack first. I believed if I attacked at that timing I could be at an advantage in the game, and coincidentally the overlord came out right at that moment so I was even happier.

The team’s veterans are doing well lately.
- In the past because we lost so often, I even thought, “is an ace victory even possible?”. However new recruits have joined our team and because we’re accumulating wins, our confidence is increasing as well.

Recently, your gameplay and morale seem higher than before.
- Lately, I’m practicing harder than I did before. Recently, my sense of the game fell a bit so I increased my practice time. Aside from the times I’m eating and sleeping, I think I’m constantly practicing. Once I became a 1st class airman, I felt a bit more at ease so I started to exercise thinking I could still win games when I was sent out, but it was harder than I thought so I decided to increase my practice time.

Among the airforce players who have been discharged or who are soon to be discharged, it seems your results and skills are the best.
- I personally think that returning to playing full time after you’ve been discharged is a big risk. There still lies the big question of how to keep up with the practicing, existing players. Although it might be considered easy to be sent out while on Ace, once you return to a team you can’t be sure of what will happen. However, recently Ace has been performing better compared to the past and reached a higher level, so I don’t feel that our team is weaker next to other teams. If this pace continues, it’ll become remarkably easier for discharged players to return to their teams.

Today, (T)XellOs, whom you’ve been on the same team with in the past, has become a part of the bench.
- Seeing him with a shaved head is cute, and I actually thought of him while I was a private too. Though there’s a long time of service left, I believe in order to live up to the fans who are anticipating the return of the ‘perfect terran’, he will revive his former self again. I personally hope people won’t judge (T)XellOs based on his image now. Once he becomes a 1st class airman, I believe his genuine inner self will come out.

Your next opponent is Hite SPARKYZ.
- It seems that on Sparkyz, around 2 of their zerg players play each time. If our team focuses on playing against zerg as we prepare, I believe we can easily win. Because we’ve never received an award for winning continually, I want to definitely win this match and record 3 straight wins.

Last words you want to say?
- Up until now, my opponents have been stealing my CJ B-team practice partners away from me. It seems they’ve arranged being practice partners before me, but because of that it was difficult to find practice partners. However, this only became a stimulus for me. I want to say thank you to KTF’s (Z)Luxury, Hite’s (Z)YellOw[ArnC], STX’s (Z)by.hero, and CJ’s (Z)sAviOr, (Z)Hydra, (Z)Devil, (Z)Orion for practicing with me. Also, Commentator KimTaeHyung hooked me up with (Z)YellOw[ArnC] while he was at the Hite team house. I want to say thank you to him because my practice with (Z)YellOw[ArnC] was of huge help.

Original Korean Interview:
+ Show Spoiler +

(P)Anytime, "Our team's morale has been very high lately."
"I am very happy that we won."

"Sashin" (P)Anytime recorded a 2 game winning streak after a long time, and helped contribute to his team's win by defeating Samsung Khan's (Z)by.great in set 3 of the game, held on the 12th of May.

The following is the interview with Anytime.

- You recorded your 7th win of the season.
▲ I won and our team won as well, so I feel very happy. Our team's morale has been very high lately. I hope we can keep this up. I hope Private (T)ClouD and Private (Z)YellOw get their first win soon. Because they both couldn't get a win, we weren't completely happy, and I hope they will do well in the future.

- You have finally recorded a winning streak after a long time.
▲ I am glad that I am finally on a winning streak. Our team's zerg were all being sent out so it was hard for me to practice. But I find it amazing that I somehow won.

- The game dragged until late game.
▲ There was nobody who could defend my early attack so perfectly. As I was playing, I did not know I was at a heavy disadvantage, but after the game ended, many people told me how much of a disadvantage I was in. I unconsciously activated my inner strength, and I am glad that I was able to win.

- When did you feel that you had won?
▲ I could not decide who won up til the last battle at the center. The zerg had gotten all the expansions on the right side of the map, so I thought ultralisks would be out, but they didn't, so I was able to win. I did not let my guard down until the game ended.

- You used a psionic storm on 1 hydralisk.
▲ When (Z)great came to attack the 4 o'clock expansion, I defended that and went to attack his 3 o'clock expansion. I did a lot of damage with that attack, and when I destroyed his 11 o'clock expansion, I felt that I was at an advantage. But I built too many high templars so I could use way more psionic storms then I thought I could. That's why I used the psionic storm on just a single hydralisk.

- You were in a slump for quite a long time, so have you finally fully recovered?
▲ The stadium was very cold for a long time. For me, if I play in a cold environment, my reaction time slows down and I can't play well. I am very sensitive to such things, but the weather has been getting warmer, so my reaction time and micro both got better.

- You face Hite SPARKYZ next.
▲ I think Hite's zerg players - (Z)HoGiL, (Z)YellOw[ArnC] and (Z)type-b - are all very strong players. Our team has many strong Protoss players so we feel that we are stronger, and we are also going to plan our entries well because (T)Leta is strong against Zergs. As I prepared for today's game, I felt many things, but I was in severe lack of practice partners. If other players from the B Team of other teams are not practicing, then I hope they can help us with practice.

- Any final words?
▲ I want to thank MBCGame's Lee Seung Ro, CJ's (Z)Hydra, (Z)Devil, STX's (Z)Calm and eSTRO's B Team zerg players for helping out with practice.

(Z)GoRush, "I practiced for all sorts of matters so that I could win"
I'm happy the team was able to win with my win in the Ace match

Ace won its 7th game in the season.
- Honestly, I’m so disappointed we lost in the last match against Hwaseung. Although I knew it would be difficult, I believed if we won all our remaining games we could reach a 50% winning rate. Once we lost to Hwaseung, we failed in achieving the 50%, but because we have more wins than losses in the 4th round, I’m extremely happy. Also, because the 7th win was achieved through my win in the ace match, I’m even happier.

It was your first ace match since your enlistment in Airforce Ace.
- It seems that players feel pressured in ace matches and are therefore unable to display their skills properly. However, in the past while on SK Telecom, I often played in ace matches and whenever I was put in a position where my match would be very important, I focused better and didn’t get nervous. So even though I didn’t get to practice that much for today’s game, I wasn’t nervous and because of that I believe I was able to win.

Was it decided beforehand that you would play in the ace match?
- There were several players that were preparing for it and I was chosen among them. Although it was hard preparing for this because I have the OSL tomorrow as well, I tried my hardest to make this proleague match priority. As I practiced against both protoss and zerg, I practiced in all sorts of matters so that I could win no matter when I’d be sent out.

How did you feel when it was decided that your opponent for the ace match would be a zerg?
- Since it was a 2 player map, I knew I could just calmly watch my overlord as I played and I thought the outcome of the game would lie in the mutalisk battle. Because (Z)great lost in the 3rd set, I believed he would be feeling nervous so I thought as long as I played calmly I would be able to win.

Your scourge control was very impressive.
- In terms of number of mutalisks, it seemed we were similar in number. In that situation, I had produced more scourge than my opponent, and when we fought I was at a very good location so I was able to fight with an advantage. Lately in zvz’s, the battles are the most important and I believe I was able to win because I fought well and because my opponent seemed nervous.

You’re the first player in Ace to reach the Ro16 OSL group selections.
- I really want to advance. I also believe there’s a deep meaning in being the first to qualify from Ace. Although it is important for the team to do well, I also believe personally creating records will make my career at Ace satisfying. No matter how the results come out, I plan on trying my hardest.

Your OSL opponents in both the 1st and 2nd set are protoss.
- The maps don’t seem bad for zerg. However, with practice, the better player will win. I don’t think the maps will be that important. Because the players in both the 1st and 2nd set are protoss, practicing will be a lot easier. Though I don’t have much time for practice, I will try to get over that aspect and prepare. However, because it is 2 protoss on the same map, I believe it’ll be difficult to prepare up to 6 different strategies.

After your enlistment in Airforce, what has personally changed most for you?
- Honestly, while I was on SK Telecom, I was disappointed I didn’t more chances to play. Though I was always confident, by not getting chances to play my sense of the game fell a bit and when I finally did get to play I wasn’t able to appropriately show my skills. Though that was disappointing, in Ace the coach believes in me and keeps sending me out, and because I want to live up to those expectations I believe I’m practicing even harder. Also, it is the truth to say that old gamers feel pressure trying to keep up in the current gaming scene. Most of the pressure came from trying to produce results that were fitting to my contract, but because there is no pressure like that at Ace, I feel I’m playing a lot more comfortably.
Also, during training, I feel I’ve received a lot of mental training. In training, the two things I’ve learned is that 1) no matter how hard things get you can take it, and 2) anything is possible if you try. Though I used to be weak in those areas, I’ve feel I’ve gotten stronger now.

Though (T)XellOs was originally supposed to enlist in the same time as you, he only just arrived.
- I was extremely glad to see him. Though he was supposed to enlist at the same time as me, because of certain inevitable events that took place, he arrived late. In contrast to other players, because I was alone during training I was incredibly lonely. I often thought about how nice it would’ve been if (T)XellOs and I had enlisted at the same time, and because I’m also the lowest rank in the team, I thought that as well. Although I’m very glad to see (T)XellOs, the army is the army. I’ll make sure to separate my personal life from my occupation.

Last words you want to say?
- Though my coach could’ve chosen a different player to play in the ace match today, even though I have the OSL tomorrow, he believed in me so I want to say thank you. Once again, I’m very happy that the team was able to win through my ace match victory.

Original Korean Interview:
+ Show Spoiler +

Props to Konadora for translating the interview with Anytime!!!
Holy CRAP these Ace players talk like crazy.
On the flip side, these interviews were actually a lot more interesting than the usual aftergame interviews

'Today, XellOs, whom you’ve been on the same team with in the past, has become a part of the bench.

- Seeing him with a shaved head is cute, and I actually thought of him while I was a private too. Though there’s a long time of service left, I believe in order to live up to the fans who are anticipating the return of the ‘perfect terran’, he will revive his former self again. I personally hope people won’t judge xellos based on his image now. Once he becomes a 1st class airman, I believe his genuine inner self will come out.'

Awww, what a sweet answer. Thanks for the translations

Awesome interviews. Thanks for the translations.

Finally, ACE is getting quality practice partners. Couple that with the new recruits, ACE is going to be a force in the next round.

Does anyone else feel that the ACE interviews tend to be longer and more interesting than other teams' interviews?

woo, ACE is awesome! I'm a huge GoRush fan now, since I started watching SC after he beat NaDa in the SL so I couldn't see how he played earlier.

Pff...first they're all modest and happy that they've won, and now that they're winning, they complain about practice partners

I think the better the team does, the chance of getting quality practice partners will also increase. Hopefully they'll be thanking some Stars players next time

I believed if I attacked at that timing I could be at an advantage in the game, and coincidentally the overlord came out right at that moment so I was even happier.

Gods among men, you two! Much thanks for the interviews!

I'm loving getting to see nice ACE interview wins, the resurgence of these old players have made their matches among my favorite to watch every day. They don't give boring interviews either, especially with the types of questions that inevitably come up (army related) which makes it all the better.

- You were in a slump for quite a long time, so have you finally fully recovered?
▲ The stadium was very cold for a long time. For me, if I play in a cold environment, my reaction time slows down and I can't play well. I am very sensitive to such things, but the weather has been getting warmer, so my reaction time and micro both got better.

and

Most of the pressure came from trying to produce results that were fitting to my contract, but because there is no pressure like that at Ace, I feel I’m playing a lot more comfortably.

very interesting.

thanks for the writeup!

The best set of interviews in a long time, Ace deserves it. <3 you Oversky. + I dont think continuing with being a progamer after Ace is of any use, just look at boxer, the gap increases too much in those 2 years, and you fall into mediocrity. Coaching or commentating would be a good option.

Thanks Smix and Konadora <3
