lmao me and rage just talked for half an hour and we cant find the rwa
|
lol
It's not in your Replays folder?
You'll know if the program is working, if when you start up StarCraft, it says so in the top left of the screen.
|
You can also check your Starcraft folder for the temporary ogg file, although that'll disappear once it saves the replay. You could try finding it with windows file search as well (Just search for files beginning with RWA_ ) Really not sure why it disappeared like that though.

I dont think it saved my rwa :'( it was a 33 minute one too
|
On April 27 2008 14:36 GoSuPlAyEr wrote: I dont think it saved my rwa :'( it was a 33 minute one too I really don't see how this is happening, but if you could please pm me the filename of the replay you were trying to make an RWA of, and also PM me a description of how you ended the commentary session, that would help me solve the issue
|
Be sure that you "stop" the recording with F6 or whatever button it was, and not just close the replay. I did one test-rwa and just closed the replay, and the file didn't appear.
|
So what RWA does is basicly add your own commentary and embed it into the actual .rep file instead of having to make a .avi, .wnv etc like a real vod?

That's exactly what an RWA is. The benefits are plenty - the viewer can scroll to view on their own, as well as having a compact file without any hassle of syncing the audio and the replay.

The replay should still appear once you close the game though (Thats why I can't see why the replays never appear) but yes, definitely make sure you end your commentary with the hotkey.

wow this is cool thumbs up to whoever made this possible
edit: sorry a toast is the best i could find...no thumbs up smileys
|
my computer really really lagged after recording, so i had to turn off the launcher and starcraft. And my comps no piece of Dew dew.
edit: k so its not working for me it only renames and resaves my replays, do i need to only have RWArecorder checked off, while leaving the player alone. So meaning i can only have one at a time to work it, because my player one didnt show until i unchecked recorder. Is this correct what im seeing?

Yeah, try to keep only the recorder or the player checked at one time, but not both. I'm still working on fixing the lag, although I'm having trouble pinpointing why its lagging, since on my development computer its working fine.

It encodes the audio stream directly to .ogg while you record it, and then saves that data to a temporary file until the RWA is complete.

i liked the rage/freestyler one aesops was good too, but does anyone else get the feeling like you are listening to an american airlines steward or something im probably just crazy, but listen to aesops commentary and think about flying on an airplane and maybe you will get what i am saying

Thanks Rage! Your RWA's are excellent.

im still wondering why my recording said, "invalid ogg file" when i started my replay with RWAplayer turned on, and RWArecorder unchecked.

Yeah, there's still a bug with that. Sorry that I haven't fixed it yet, was really busy with finals. Done now though, so I should get it solved fairly soon.

hmm are you gonna add an option to commentate on X2 or X4 reps soon too? I think it would further popularize the tools, but i dunno how hard to code it is.
Anyway I made another RWA, im not so happy with this one but anyway: http://users.telenet.be/royo/RWA_Qoo)G5 PvT Artosis[Medi.rep
(its the Artosis vs G5 rep from the tl database)

The easiest way would just be to specify before starting the recording, and then save that info in the replay. The more complicated, but more robust way would be to somehow record speed changes based on game-timing, so that you could change speeds mid-recording. Guess I'll have to make a choice between one of those.
