I think anyone would like it the more attention and talk their event gets.

So what about the 16 spots instead of 24? And the format of the qualifiers being regional but anyone can take part in each qualifier?
|
16 slots sounds definitely good for me, the less opponents the better :D As for qualifiers being regional but anyone can take part in it? This sounds like Open Qualifiers, harly regional? Except time of the tournament, maybe. My idea: Have about 5 slots EU only, and 5 slots NA + SA only. The remaining 5 slots are worldwide open. The idea behind this is to have TR16 ++ games in regional tournaments (what is the latency between SA and NA?). It would be also fair to not show any favouritism to any continent with the last 5 slots being open for anyone.
|
Na + sa latency is good in my expirience.. unless u have crap internet. Ive got even tr24 sometimes
|
16 players, 4 groups of four, double elimination bo3 + bo5 in ro8, ro4, 3rd place and bo7 finals sounds good to me.
6 EU spots 5 NA/SA spots 5 open spots
really good idea by Bonyth, imo
This will be great tournament for sure. I think it may be even better than the first one (bigger prize pool + bigger experience for the organizers and players), but we will see.

Day 2 Venue: Rus_Brain's sweet home, paid obs entry only, BBQ and party included I must say that I've been to three tournaments hosted by Rus_Brain. They all were well organized except that as a viewer at venue you always have bad experience. It's either lack of space to seat or shitty screen with barely visible image.
This time the problem is solved quite radically. Instead of trying to get as wide audience as possible, we have $50 tickets for day 2, and on day 1 we will have same venue with same issues as last time.
So I have mixed feelings - I'm happy that we have this tournament and sad that I won't be able to cheer with other viewers during the grand finals.

This announcement is still pretty strange, but nevertheless it's going to be a great torunament and for me the most anticipated one in 2020. I hope we can double the prize pool so we will have another one next year. Bit sad about the reduction in player number, but I can understand the reason (too much cost).
GOGO corrupted cup, or russian cyber games! (strange name )

I'm very, very glad that we are getting another big global LAN tournament for SC BW in 2020.. and with quite a huge prizepool considering how old the game is, too. Hats off to Rus_Brain for that, big respect.
But I have to say that the slot distribution seems very strange to me, tbh.. 2 slots for world but only 1 for Poland? 3 for former soviet states (does that include russia?).. I dont think this is a good distribution at all.. and that day 2 will be a closed affair for live viewers is a real damn shame indeed.. not many people will be able to pay 50 bucks.. and I actually think that this is a discount and true price will be 100 dollars (?).
let's wait for the official announcement from rus_brain though.

As i heard and as you can read in liquipedia article there will be 4 quotas for rus+cis qualifiers. First Lan at moscow and 3 online qualies. Seems fair for me as 25% of spots. In the same time poland has one finalist and one slot. Plus after polush qualifiers anyone from eu can play into global eu qualifiers. And after anyone can still have a chance at worldwide qualifiers. So, potentially poland can have 5 spots. Seems fair.

So worldwide qualifiers means open qualifiers? Because last tournament it was only open to those from countries outside Russia/CIS, LA, NA and EU.

That is my thoughts about that. As i know Russia has one privileged spot - Moscow LAN. Then anyone from Russia can participate in CIS qualifiers along with KZ UA BY etc. Same is for PL. One privileged spot, other players will challenge in EU qualifiers.
The question is not clear for me is CIS a part of EU or not. Is worldwide open qualifiers or ladder qualifiers. As i think worldwide should be open for everyone.

as for me it would be great if: RU slot -> into CIS -> into EU -> into WORLWIDE PL slot -> into EU -> into WORLDWIDE NA 2 slots -> into WORLDWIDE LA 2 slots -> into WORLDWIDE But as i know for today: RU slot -> into CIS PL slot -> into EU. That means first Poland will qualify one of the players. The rest can try in EU qualifiers.

That would be kinda weird.. if its different than the last year, then it should be mentioned imo because now rules are not 100% clear. idk.. lets wait for official announcement and info/questions I guess

Well it sounds fair when you can select at least 1 or some representative from a region.
Imagine if PL had no qualis and everyone in europe had to fight in EU preliminaries. In some cases no poland players could attend. So i think to have PL own qualis as RU for us its a privelege

Idk how this all will work, it's not 100% clear, no details released yet. That's why I think we should wait for the official announcement and details. For now it just looks a bit weird (if the last year's qualifying rules apply).

As an events person, I disagree with this from the perspective that if I spent a ton of time getting a launch and branding together and someone leaked it without explicitly that being the plan? That is SUPER frustrating.
Announcing a new project + the brand looking awesome and flashy graphics is very rewarding. Also, if someone leaks and it doesnt look appetizing because they just post a link and "I'll leave this here" or whatever reason, feels like I'd been cheated.
General note: Please have some respect for content creators. This scene doesn't have very many of them and, while the creators here don't seem to mind, others (like me or a few others i can think of) would. There's sometimes a lot of hard work that goes into these things.
