Korea StarCraft League (KSL) is back! Blizzard Entertainment announced today that the global StarCraft: Remastered tournament will be returning for its third season later this year. With two successful seasons in 2018 under its belt, KSL is preparing to make a comeback in April 2019. 2018 saw the likes of terran player Seunghyun ‘Last’ Kim and zerg player Mincheol ‘Soulkey’ Kim take home the KSL trophy during the first two seasons. With the first season of 2019 just around the corner, fans are waiting to find out which of their favorite players will jump into the fray to be crowned the third KSL champion. For its third season, KSL will be taking place at the newly established VSG Arena in the heart of downtown Seoul. The VSG Arena, which is a multipurpose esports cultural complex, is complete with state-of-the-art audio and visual capabilities, as well as convenient facilities that provide fans and players with an excellent competitive experience.Preparations for the third KSL season will start with online registrations, which are scheduled to take place from March 8 through March 20. Online qualifiers will then take place on March 23 and 24, followed by offline qualifiers on March 30. These qualifiers will decide which players will make it to the official round-of-16 roster. The opening match for KSL season 3 will kick off April 18, and KSL matches will be taking place every Thursday and Friday following the opening match. The 16 finalists will be competing for the total prize pool of KRW 80 million. Additional information about KSL and its next season can be found on KSL’s official website.

Well this is great news. Still 2 big indivudal leagues.

This is wonderful news. Definitely pumped for a 3rd KSL season. Glad we still got two different major tournaments still going for Brood War.
.... i guess i need to up my game....
Superb. After the news regarding staff lay-offs at Blizzard, it's wonderful that KSL is still returning. Looking forward to April!
I want to see Flash and Bisu in this season
Awesome!! What a dream to be living in having 2 major BW tournaments run side by side.
If Flash qualified for this, it would be a dream come true.

Has Bisu come back from military already?

cool. Feared, that Blizzard lost interest in bw again or that it wasn't succesfull enough to be continued since they just canceled their HotS-league.
eeeexcellent news!

I'm looking forward to finding out what the map pool is. The website says its "coming soon"
Wonderful. Looking forward to see my boy Flash (hopefully).
Here we go! Beer is in the fridge, pizza in the oven, sport is coming, the body is ready, brood war is for ever!
I'm a little surprised to see this announcement, though I'm pretty happy about it!
Hopefully we get a season with only island maps. I need my Sparkle fix dang it.
Sweet! Long live Brood War!
oh yessss, this is the best news. I hadn't expected this to go ahead but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Thought blizzard abandoned KSL. Glad that I was wrong. Hopefully Flash takes part in this since it's all BO series.
Really great news to see. I wasn't hopeful for the future of KSL after hearing about all the layoffs at Blizzard. Glad to have two ongoing starleagues for BW!
We are living in the Silver Age of Broodwar. What a great time to be alive!
Was getting worried that this would be cancelled. Glad to hear it's back AND in a new venue (which is a good sign I think).
Would love to see Flash enter this tournament. In-shape Flash in a BO7 is a terrifying thought. I want to witness that, badly.
I do love me some Brood War. Can't wait! :D
Life is great!
very cool! I love seeing the continuous support!

Hallelujah! Was starting to get worried for a second.

I wonder what the maps will be for this tournament.

I hope to god not! Crossgame and Ground Zero 2.0 are not fun to wall against 1-1-1 as Zerg.
Nice to see the prize pool still going strong at 80,000,000₩ ($71,000USD) despite the recent changes from Blizzard.
Is anyone from here going to qualifiers and want to meet up? I will be in Seoul during this time, so I might try just for fun if I can get a spot. I fully anticipate to not win a single game.
ASL has spoiled me, I find the ladder maps rather bland...
Thank you Blizzard for keeping BW going.
I wasn't expecting this, so I'm really pleasantly surprised! Great to have two leagues running.

Is TL waiting for the English Blizz announcement to put it in the featured news?

Is it the silver age because Brood War is old enough to have grey hair, at least in esports terms?
Amazing news, I thought KSL was done for with the recent esports layoffs, this made my day.
EEEEEEEEEEY thats my Birthday ^____^
I missed the KSL staff cuts. Link?
Excellent. Put in Blockchain and Whiteout.
Hey hey.. any news on the qualifiers (and and English broadcast thereof)? I just heart Qikz saying (at the STPL stream) that Rapid is sleeping in preparation to attend the qualifiers, and yesterday Artosis said on his stream that he'll be casting the whole thing. Anyone has any specific info? Thanks!

Thanks

for the love of god let jaedong win a starleague would make the world right again
Do we have livestream for the online qualifiers season 3?
can somebody add the twitchstream to the upcoming Events for tomorrow?
edit: thx
I updated the calendar. Hopefully, I got the timezones right. From what I understand the broadcasted qualifiers start tomorrow at 11:00 am Korean time.
Online qualifiers are taking forever to start. They should have started almost 2 hours ago.
Edit: Apparently they have staggered the start time based on brackets. Been waiting since 10am for nothing
23일 (Saturday KST) A조 11시 ~ 12시 B조 12시 ~ 13시 C조 13시 ~ 14시 D조 14시 ~ 15시 E조 15시 ~ 16시 F조 16시 ~ 17시
24일 (Sunday KST) G조 11시 ~ 12시 H조 12시 ~ 13시 I조 13시 ~ 14시 J조 14시 ~ 15시 K조 15시 ~ 16시 L조 16시 ~ 17시
is there english commentary?
I believe Artosis and Rapid will be casting tomorrow. Well, I think so anyway.
I’m starting to become a good fan of Rapid. The guy dresses super sharp and tries his hardest to prepare and study up on the players and strategies. He might not be some crazy gosu but give him a chance for trying.
would be absolutely lovely if someone who can read korean brackets would post the results here, as always.
I hope the creme de la creme of korean BW is going to participate in this. I'm getting OSL/MSL vibes from ASL/KSL and it would be very cool if it stayed this way.
I'll be casting the qualifiers tomorrow with Artosis, but will probably still be checking this thread for updates.
Brackets have not yet been publically released, but I'll be sure to tweet about them and all the other information tomorrow.
