GOMTV has been bleeding money through SC2, they've already got everything established though (The studio, the equipement etc) and now with GSTL gone they even have more free air time, now imagine if they were able to run an individual BW league. It has a fanbase, KESPA is out of the picture, now even though the fanbase is smaller than it used to be, there's no competition left and on top of that individual leagues are very cheap to run. GOMTV will NEVER broadcast a BW teamleague, investing in teams, organization and keeping everything running wouldn't be way to big of an investment for a 16 yr old game, but running a low cost individual just might turn a profit. GOMTV is a business, BW might work out and that's why they are trying it out. Keep in mind that GSTL basically had a live audience of 50 while the SSL group selection was packed. GOMTV was capable of examining those numbers and came to a conclusion that a game that is obviously more popular in Korea and has absolutely no competition might work out in a grassroots environment. | ||
