Above you will see how the results of the regular season of the round of 16. So where do we go from here for the OSL? Group A, C and D need to complete tie-break matches because of three way ties in all groups. Amazingly Group B is the only group that does not have a three way tie like the other groups.
This is what we know, V-Gundam and Yellow will advance into the Ro8 from Group B. Group A's tie-break matches will be starting off with Enough Vs. Boxer and then who wins from there will decide which games will continue. Group C matches will start off with Lee Vs. Sigamari. Group D will start off with IntoTheRain Vs. Marine
Because this is a spoiler-free coverage of the OSL I will not post the following games of the tie-breaks games because that would spoil for me and for viewers. When they are brought into OP they will be under spoiler tabs so you won't spoil yourself when your looking for VODs. I've also made this notepad with the links of games if your eager to start watching. Round of 16: Day 1 + Show Spoiler +

[i]I do ask please do keep results spoiled in thread posts, and if you know any of these players feel free to tell me about them, but don't spoil their achievements because I might cast those in the future.
If you folllow this link: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Special:Search?search=spoilerfree&go=Go you'll find some pages of a bit of an unfinished project that has a couple of leagues' pages remade so that they're spoilerfree. Should be ideal for this. I'm afraid the leagues that were done were kinda newish though. If I find time I'll try to add more old/classic ones soon.
@soujiro_ I'm not doing this for views. I'm doing this to give a daily brood war casts because there are on and off days of brood war casts. Streaming is too difficult just simply for a half and hour cast most times.
@Pholon It seems interesting. Keep me posted if you get it to work.
@Gairbear For the time being I'm only doing VODs for simplicity and time reasons. I might if I have a week of vacation I might do some major casts where I might stream but otherwise it will purely VODs. I want to give daily brood war content and I don't like twitch VODs I like YouTube. I also do this so I can enjoy the Korean scene that I never got to experience. I just invite views to watch if they like.
This game was alright. Nothing super special Sigimari opens with two hatch mutas and just wins from there nothing too critical but entertaining nonetheless

The only issue for the time being is regularity of a time I cast every night. I also don't know if it would be fair for me to use calender everyday for brood war for a half and hour event or so.
However I cannot cast these live for the next four days anyway as they are all already pre-recorded
This is really cool. I got into BW briefly when tasteless was casting with gom, but that was pretty short lived, and I could never get into watching the korean casts.
And I agree that casting them live woud be cool, but hopefully you keep the thread updated with links as well, because I'm terrible at remembering to watch vods on twitch or follow someone's youtube.
Awesome idea of a way to contribute. I also started watching late, around the end of 2008. I wonder how you're going to go with understanding the builds that players used back in 01 though? Any ideas for that?
A bit of feedback: it would be nice if you did a little research on the players before you started recording, rather than during the video... i realize that it can help fill space more if you have to look something up live, but it gets kinda annoying to hear you say "I don't know anything about this guy, let me look him up" and try to talk about him while reading and such.
Also, the song is not gundam style :/ Hearing that repeated hurts my brain.

Duely notes, however you have to understand if I do so called research I have the potential of spoiling the whose osl and future ones for myself. Remember I'm doing this for me as well.
However my lack of knowledge of players is circumvented when co-cast with BMW which those gods either come up tomorrow or on Sunday
Yeah, I'm aware that it's pretty hard to avoid spoilers... maybe you could convince someone to create a little stats doc for you sans spoilers so you don't have to do the research yourself? lol

That is a ton of time commitment, if someone would volunteer for it then I'll surely be glad to use the source otherwise I will continue to my current method. Pholon has a interesting idea but he is already doing so many things I feel adding one more thing for him to do is too much.
Enough Vs. Sindoki E-VOD uploaded and linked in OP Spoiler+ Show Spoiler +
The game was interesting. It was a longer zvz I believe lasting 16 minutes or so. Still the same muta ling compositions but more macro oriented build orders for zvz
Haha. Something you said in one of the casts made me think it could be fun if you acted as if you were actually back in time and you'd be casting the games as if they were just live, only tell what you know about the players/maps/strategies based upon what you've casted already. Maybe that could make it a bit more attractive? If you plan to cover enough of the events, I think that could work quite well, otherwise it would probably get messy (not knowing anything relevant ever). But either way this is great and I'm loving it already. I had the thought of going back and watching all the past vods that I also missed out on, I even downloaded a couple of vods from the torrents this is much better tho. Thanks!
Needs more VODs! lol. I'm really enjoying these games, and watching with someone speaking english over the korean at least gives me something to listen to that I can understand.
Also, IntoTheRain's style is hilarious. I love the hair and those glasses lol.
So, There has been discussion for me doing live streaming of this daily. I've had someone contact me to help co-cast we'll see if the co-casting will work. For the next three VODs we have BMW on air with us within the VODs
I have a question however, would you guys like it for me to make a scheduled time everyday to cast these games, make a calender event every day for a game or two? Or do you guys don't mind the VODs let me know!
tbh ive been waiting for a series like this since forever!!! never felt the passion of bw's early days (first games i was were EVER OSL 2007 finals between stork and jaedong. came to sc:bw though kartrider) and im so sad about it

Of course pretty much anyone will prefer regular live casts, the VODs are always there anyway. But it's really up to you and your schedule. It could get both exhausting/pressuring or motivate you to keep it coming, probably the latter when it comes to someone like you.) Even if you don't make these casts a regular thing, you should get the stream up and running whenever you're casting, so that anyone who's around at the time can enjoy it live.. no reason not to do that imo.
Can't check Youtube from work but this seems like a great idea. I only got into the pro-scene around 2007 and have only watched one old tourney all the way through.
Curious, are you able (if you don't already) to get any translations of what the commentators are saying?
I apologize but my plan to get the VOD while at school did not work. My school computers do not have the ability to highlight videos on twitch and upload to my YouTube so I will upload when I get home sorry for the delay!
Here's a documentary about Slayer, (the blonde guy in the game between TheMarine and Reach). He was a norwegian terran/zerg race picker, known for having fast hands. He was a major prospect in 2000 and was offered to join a korean practice house, but chose to go home and focus on school instead.
It's a shame for Scandinavian BW that he never really gave it his all. He definately seemed to have the potential to become a major starleague contender, but any kid from the safe and secure scandinavia would have made the same choice. It makes you wonder though, what could have been, considering how huge Counter-Strike was here back then. I played BW back in 2000, briefly, most swedish and norwegian kids did, but I never learned about the korean pro scene until 2009.
I watched that earlier. It's so cool to see Maynard and Slayer and people talking about How Grrr (how the hell many r's does he have?) is the best player in the world at the time.
Kinda funny considering how much bigger BW got than even that.
Day 5 VODs are up sorry been technical difficulties n' such finally got around to uploading them, planning on casting some tonight stay tune if interested. Also, apparenty for Day 5 VODs I was recording wit my webcam sorry for the terrible audio of my voice O.o
