Jaedong “I think I can make the Ro4 easily barring an upset”
![[image loading]](http://fomos.kr/board/interview/1295516873_1.jpg)
- How does it feels to be up 1-0? ▲ Even as I practiced, I knew I could win today. I made a lot of mistakes and didn't play particularly well today, so I'll be sure to play better next week.
- There was a bloodbath at your 11 o' clock natural. ▲ When the Protoss firsted rushed me, I blocked it without much damage so I had an advantage, but I sustained a lot of damage from his next big rush. It was more dangerous than I thought and I knew not to get overconfident. I took a lot of damage but I saved both Hatcheries and a lot of Drones, so I believed that I could win.
- Your ZvP seems shaky lately ▲ It doesn't seem that way when I practice, but I feel I play sloppy in televised games. I think I can play better if I calm down a bit and focus more. The reason that I knew I was going to win this game was because I played so well in practice.
- Any goals for the next game? ▲ In the separated BoX, I think the first game is crucial. I think it will be pretty easy to prepare for next week's matches, and I think I can win barring any unforeseen circumstances.
- Anything to say? ▲ My team's Protosses helped me a lot, and I want to give a shoutout of thanks to Dear.
Hydra “I could win because I focused on my control”
![[image loading]](http://fomos.kr/board/news/1295518721_1.jpg)
- Feelings on winning a great comeback? ▲ Firstly, I thought the first game would be very important so I'm happy that I won and I knew that I was on a ZvZ streak but I didn't know it was 9 in a row. I think I can be even more confident from now on.
- It was a nailbiting comeback ▲ I had the worst BO luck but I think I got lucky by focusing on my micro.
- Your scourge usage was excellent. ▲ Because I was behind, I thought that scourges were my only chance and I thought that I could win if I used them in conjunction with Zerglings, so I went in aggressively and I think it worked out well.
- Your looks seems to be improving with your game. ▲ I haven't heard that often, but thanks for saying so.(laughs)
- You're holding an advantage in the BoX. ▲ I haven't played too many BoX, but I think I can prepare easily for the following games because I've won the first game. I think it's a boon for me.
- What if you meet Jaedong in the semi-finals? ▲ I just want to focus on the games in front of me. If I were to say something, because it's ZvZ, it wouldn't matter if it's Jaedong.
- Final words? ▲ Thank you for my teammates for helping me practice, and my team is on a losing streak in Winners' League but it's not like there's any internal troubles, so I want to take this chance to say that we'll end our streak soon and start performing well soon.
♡♥♡ ZerO ♥♡♥ "The map order is going to help me get into the Ro4"
![[image loading]](http://fomos.kr/board/interview/1295521001_1.jpg)
Translator bias: Zero gets a blurb
On the 20th, "The Queen's Son’ Kim Myung Woon (Woongjin) got the GG from Song Byung Goo (Samsung Electronics) with perfect play in the PDPop MSL 2010 Ro8 Game 1, held at the LOOX HERO center at Moon-Rae Dong,
Kim Myung Woon dominated the game throughout, and said “ Stork had very good momentum but what mattered more was how well I was prepared. Because I have the first victory and the map order favors me, I'm confident I can win the series too."
- You succeeded in drawing first blood against Stork. ▲ I was very confident as I prepared and the soundproof sound (I guess they play some internal sound to mute the sound from outside). The sound was so loud that some of the in-game sounds were being muffled, and I think Stork couldn't concentrate because of that so I don't feel completely happy even though I won.
- You rocked the shit out of that dinosaur today You had very good gameplay today ▲ I really liked this build so I wanted to use it, and because it's a BoX, I tried something different.
- You've shown a relative weakness at BoX in the past. ▲ I didn't think that it was a BoX, and I played like I usually do. I'm slowly fixing these weaknesses, so I think I can do well from now on.
- Stork had amazing momentum before your game. ▲ I knew that, but my condition matters more than the opponent's, so if I prepare well, I think I can beat anyone. Of course, this means that I can also lose to anyone on a given day, but I didn't really think about Stork's momentum.
- Who helped you with the strategy? (For those of you who didn't watch, Zero had a great mindfuck strategy. Go watch now!) ▲ Soulkey and Crazy-Hydra helped me from both sides. I chose the concept as Hydralisks but the coaches helped me too, and although it's an individual league, I think I won because everyone helped me.
- Are you confident in your remaining games? ▲ I like the map order, and if I lost today I would have had an uphill battle, but because I won, I'm confident that I can advance.
- Last words? ▲ A few days ago, it was the birthday of Kim Ji-Soo from the office, but I couldn't call and could only text because I had Proleague that day. I'm sorry, and I wish him a belated birthday.
great "I wanted to dominate the first match."
![[image loading]](http://fomos.kr/board/interview/1295523084_1.jpg)
- Thoughts on getting 1 win against Kal? ▲ In a BoX, I felt that I needed to win Game 1 and I'm happy to have won it easily, and I also think my possibility of getting into the Ro4 is much higher now.
- Did you have a concept in mind? ▲ I felt that I needed to dominate the match and win convincingly because of the importance of Game 1. So when I could, I produced queens and overall, it was a satisfying game. I think I can win even easier in next week's games.
- Zergs won every game today. ▲ I looked at the Proleague individual win rankings, and Zerg got massacred. I don't think we can use this to say that Zerg is imba, but I feel it's time for Zerg to catch up.
- Didn't you have trouble preparing for the BoX. ▲ Because Stork and Jangbi had played many BoX, they gave me a lot of advice. I feel I understand BoX much better now. Also, because individual leagues are different from Proleague, I can enjoy the games a bit more. Because it's not Proleague, I don't have to stress about the result and have fun in the game.
- You said you wanted to play a Zerg last week - were you stressed any that you had to play Kal? ▲ Even though Kal is good, you can't ignore the natural racial imbalance in BoX, so I didn't worry about it too much. I think Kal stressed about it more than I did.
- You said you wanted to enjoy individual leagues, but will that change once you come close to winning it? ▲ I joked to my teammates back at the house, “If I win, I want to put Taek-Baeng-Lee-Ssang in one group using my powers (at the group ceremony)”. I think that will be fun for all watching and right now, I kind of want to do that.(laughs)
- Last words? ▲ I hadn't played many ZvP on Benzene so thank you to my teammates for helping me practice, and I would appreciate it if they helped me a lot next week too.

This sentence is gramatically incorrect, it should be 'unless' instead of 'if'. In all seriousness, its ironic how people STILL think ZvZ is volatile against jaedong and a match of him can be taken randomly if you're a zerg. News flash: IT'S THE LEAST RANDOMLY POSSIBLE. 54% vs 76% good luck hydra.

Fuck Yeah Zero!
Really glad that he showed aggression early game, even if it's a fake. Woongjin zergs have been too passive as of late.
|
I feel really bad for Stork. If he wins tomorrow, he'll have hardcore PvT practice for next week to do, and so I don't think he'll be prepared enough to take down Zero. If he loses tomorrow....well, that would suck as it is. And he'd still have to fight an uphill battle vs Zero.
Tbh, a gold in OSL would be the better deal, getting gold there and ro8 in msl is still pretty nice. But failing tomorrow or vs fantasy and not passing Zero would be quite an upset.
|
wtf stork...if you were gonna lose to zero you should have just thrown your game against bisu...at least then we get a protoss winning msl for once after 2 years
|
I called this long ago. Two bo5s is to hard to practice for unless you have imb maps in your favour.
I really do hope stork has put alot of effort into his bo5 tomorrow in OSl. If he fails there I think BW is over for stork. He will keep on playing of course but he wont get another chance like this to take a gold.
So sad but Stork just cannot beat Zero when Zero can focus 110% on him and he has to put so much effort into the bo5 vs modesty and also prepare for fantasy if he manage to beat modesty.

Stork let Zero have Game 1 in order to conceal strategies he prepared against Modesty tomorrow. Once Modesty is defeated, Stork will go all-out on Zero and boy, he'd better be prepared to receive the beating. On another note, it's not actually bad if he didn't prepare that much against Fantasy. He has amazing PvT game sense and even then Fantasy winning over him is not something Stork will be too sad about.
+ Show Spoiler +I'm a Stork fanboy.

The good thing is its a bo5 and stork can comeback from this, its retarded to play 1 game first and rest of games next week anyway. He will know he has not enough apm for sair/reaver and play a timing macro game against Zero, like he always do. Zero is always a macro zerg though. Leave the sair/reaver to bisu. For OSL, Modesty is a tricky player who can play low econ games but the toughest should be fantasy who will be much more experienced than last time when he got cheesed. The maps are different too, no chupung and medusa this time which favour vultures dropship more.

Do any of the MSL streamers do English commentary? I'm too n00bish to enjoy it without commentary.

I watched ZerO's game with huge admiration. He played like a mastermind. Stork was strategically outclassed and couldn't come back. And this was the first time Hydra's control was this solid.

Luck based? You've got to be kidding me. It's arguably the least macro-dependent match up, but it has nothing to do with luck. Generally comes down to who has better control. Doing 12 hatch 11 pool 10 extractor against 4 pool is also not about being lucky or something like that.

Sad there's no great... Here's a short version for great/Samsung fans until the OP decides to put him there.
-1st game is really important. Wants to win game 1 in a convincing manner, and therefore went queens for effect. Was very happy to win the game fairly easily.
-Got advice from Stork and Jangbi on how to prepare for both SL and PL. Says SL is more "fun" than PL, since losing doesn't hurt the team. Hence more likely to play in a freer style
-Believes that although Kal is really good, in a BoX the race matchup(I assume P > T > Z > P) really comes into play. And believes that Kal has more trouble with preparation than him.
-Jokes that if he won the championship, he'd use his massive power and put TBLS in the same group just for fun in the next MSL.
|
TBLS in the same group would be so awesome and sad at the same time.
|
I don't think Jaedong and Stork can be in the same group but he can put Bisu in Jaedong's group and Flash in Stork's group.

Stork fanboys are pretty much the second worst group after Bisu's fanboys. Of course there's quite a chasm between them but Stork fanboys are still PRETTY damn bad.

What is a TBLS? Note: I know that it's TaekBangLeeSsang, and it brings us to my second question:
What is a TaekBangLeeSsang?
|
Taek = Kim Taek Young = Bisu Bang = Song Byung Goo = Stork (don't really know why it's Bang, maybe it is that Byung kinda sounds like Bang) LeeSsang = Lee Jae Dong + Lee Young Ho = Jaedong and Flash (LeeSsang means double Lee or something of the sorts).
It became a thing since those 4 players have for a very long time been the most prominent players on the scene. Since the Bisu vs Savior in march of 2007, 6 out of 10 MSLs have had one of them as the winner, 8 out of 10 MSLs have featured 1 or 2 of them in the finals and 10 out of 10 has had one or more in the semis. For OSLs, 7 out of 10 has had one of them as the winner, 8 out of 10 has had one or two of them in the finals and 9 out of 10 has had one or more in the semis. Additionally, each of their teams have won at least one PL final since then, and in the same timeframe they are the only 4 to reach #1 in kespa rank.

I loled, any zerg will played so well in practice vs Dear. Anybody know can Jae training w Bisu? Or they are not close friend like w Flash?

Actually I kind of disagree...it's kind of gone full circle for me. At first I watched English, then I watched Korean, but then when I understood the game well enough and didn't need to hear the commentators going ballistic at everything to keep up I (at least for OSL) prefer listening to Nuke over Koreans. *shrug*
EDIT: I should add I don't speak Korean... I just like having background noise (especially when it's entertaining) while I'm watching matches.

Thanks for the explanation you're greatly appreciated. I remember the Bisu vs Savior in March 2007 (it's not because i watched it live or anything like that but i watched the vods). But well, i didn't know it was that huge in those terms.

....O_O
Sweet Jesus, I will cry for weeks if we get ANOTHER ZVZ finals...Calm vs Kwanro, or Jaedong vs Yellow[arnc] type finals were just disheartening T_T

That doesn't mean they all are. Bisu no doubt has the worst fanbase though. The ''Best Player of 2010'' poll is undisputable evidence of that. I think every one except the bisu fans will agree on this. Also, I'm surprised at how non-idiotic all the Stork fans are, concidering how well Stork has been doing lately. are you kidding? Stork fanboys are pretty much the second worst group after Bisu's fanboys. Of course there's quite a chasm between them but Stork fanboys are still PRETTY damn bad. Or it's just certain users who gave me a REALLY REALLY bad impression
![[image loading]](http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/7775/26365731.png) You'd probably appreciate this - the Stork fanboys were so loud that Zero's and Stork's chairs shook from the soundproof machinery in the booth ~_~

HELLS YEAH ZERO :D BRING IT HOME
Although the finals are gonna be really shitty if you do

▲ It doesn't seem that way when I practice, but I feel I play sloppy in televised games. JD having nerve issues on televised games? thats really strange since he has so much experience...
If I were to say something, because it's ZvZ, it wouldn't matter if it's Jaedong. I don't quite get this, is he saying because its JvZ that he doesn't stand a chance, or that since its ZvZ that its a coin flip and theres a chance he can win?
and holy shit zero's game was amazing... stork didn't play exceptional or anything, but zero... just wow. I'm rooting for Stork though (just in hopes of him taking the finals) so I hope he busts out something interesting in the next few sets... since he's behind now he won't be able to save/hide his crazy PvZ builds (which prior to losing he may have saved in expectation of facing JD in the finals)
▲ I joked to my teammates back at the house, “If I win, I want to put Taek-Baeng-Lee-Ssang in one group using my powers (at the group ceremony)”. I think that will be fun for all watching and right now, I kind of want to do that.(laughs)
holy shit suddenly I love Great... His attitude about the individual leagues and how he is able to just have fun and enjoy shit for the kicks is really refreshing. I wish more people had this kind of affable attitude in the Korean scene
EDIT: Thanks for the translation!

So all Z semis are incoming? How damn boring... I wish there was one T so we could see some good-level TvZ.
It's been a while since I have seen a good TvZ...

Games like these make being a ZerO fan worth it amidst all the failing! I really loved his build today. In a way it's kind of similar to the 2hatch muta into double expand build he used against Flash, which was also extremely cool.
It's a shame that if ZerO wins, it'll 90% be a ZvZ final, which is his weakest matchup and not as entertaining, but I still want to see him beat Stork!

Man how did hydra get so good? He's even saying that he doesn't fear JD in zvz WTF? I don't think he'd beat JD but still.. it's really weird how good he's gotten since EffOrt retired. It's almost like he watched effort's replays over and over until he became a stud O_O

Sure is zerg in this MSL. Everyone ready for Avalon 2.0?

As long as Jaedong loses in the semi and Zero or Calms win its, I'm up for it.

Even though Kal is good, you can't ignore the natural racial imbalance in BoX, so I didn't worry about it too much. Really, great? Last time I checked, the most dominant player in the PvZ matchup was a Protoss. I don't buy the ZvP imba anymore. Maybe it's easier to be the Zerg if you're not very skilled, but if you know what you're doing, Protoss is so strong. They definately have the best harrass potential of all, sairs, d/h templars and reavers. Even zealots are awesome for harrassing in this matchup, much more effective than zerglings. Overall, Protoss have much more cost-effective units than Zerg. If everybody played with black sheep wall, I could see the matchup being 70/30 in Protoss's favour.

Aww darn...Calm and Stork lost T.T
I dunno why but I really like Calm and it pains to see him lose. Even though he's gotten into the Ro8, he still seems a really shaky/weak player compared to Hydra (even though Hydra's good, it's depressing to see that Calm can't really win when it matters insofar as this series has progressed)...
Also Stork ... @milkis (comment about stork fanboys being terrible): do you mean the fanboys in the live, broadcasted games, or the ones online (like me :3).

dont worry. lately calm almost always loses the 1st game in a series. I think he will be a much stronger force next week.
really hoping kal or stork make it through. no one will even care about the MSL if it's all zergs in the semifinals lol.

I remember reading an interview from a previous OSL (a while ago, like 2008/2009 era) where flash wanted to make a Ro16 group be Taek-Baeng-Lee-Ssang but then one of stork/jaedong got put into another group before flash could do anything. I think it was incruit because bisu and flash were in the same group but I dont think either of them would of been a seed to pick a group.

I wish Stork steps up his game after losing game one, man he played terrible.

Sure the area effect shit of protoss is cool, but if you look at raw units, zerg deals more damage for the money(though protoss has higher life), so great does have a point there.
And funny how you mention zealots being more effective than lings, when protoss basically has only one build order to even use so they wouldnt get stomped by lings(forge fe), and in the late game, cracklings deal way more damage than speedlots, and are way faster.
|
But that's the strength of Protoss. They aren't strong, but their health makes up for it. Zealots are so powerful with +1 and speed, and they are also very compact, which means they are much more effective in battle, especially inside a base since buildings make it hard to surround units, or target in general. Also, archons eat cracklings in late game, where zealots are mainly meant to be used as meat shields.
In theory, I think Protoss is superior in this matchup, but since Zerg is such a flexible race you are required to be in control and always know what they are doing. That's the big challenge.
