Match1 Hyuk <Icarus> Fantasy + Show Spoiler +Fantasy!“There were alot of inconveniences due to it being a teamkill match” On the 31st, at the Yong-san e-sports stadium, Fantasy topped his teammate Hyuk(SKT1) during day 1 of the 2010 Bacchus OSL 2010 Ro8. - You have put yourself one step closer to the Ro4 by taking the first game. ▲ I was very nervous before the game, but feel good now that I won. There are alot of incoveniences due to it being a teamkill match, but I will cleanly 2:0 him in the next game. - How did you practice ▲ It was hard due to everybody going on break, but s2 helped me alot. I think that helped me achieve good results today. - How are you coping with your fear of mutalisks ▲ Even before I debuted, I lost to mutalisks alot, but now I have overcome it. However, I am not completely over my fear, so I am still in need of improvement. - Are you confident you will take the next game as well ▲ Because we are teammates, I know his playstyle well. Today's game was dangerous because I had assumed he was going to play a management style game, but he played aggressively. Even when I saw what he was doing it was difficult to fend off [his attacks]. - Having to beat out a teammate to advance must be especially stressful. ▲ I've been blaming Mind alot for the current situation. At other times I regretted setting up the brackets like this. I feel bitter for having to play Hyuk in the Ro8. - You must be eager to win it all. ▲ I am playing with the mindset of a rookie. I want to return to the finals and go for the win. Recently OGN has been showing alot of reruns of past OSL finals, and I have been pumping myself up watching those. - Any last words ▲ I want to thank s2 and Hong-Gyu Lim [T/N: Who? Probably a practice partner] for helping me practice. I hope everybody can wrap up 2010 on a good note and happy new years. Source: Fomos
Match2 Calm <Aztec> Mind + Show Spoiler +Mind! "I lost motivation because the maps were so unfavored towards Terran" He was behind the whole game. He lost a major portion of his bio army to Calm's mutalisks, and was forced into a disadvantageous position when stop lurkers wiped out his initial push. However as soon as Mind cleared the lurkers in the center, he quickly assessed the situation. After noticing 9 o'clock lacked defense, he flew a dropship in to clear the expansion and damage his main to snatch a comeback win from Calm. Q You got your first win in the Ro8. A There were so many fans cheering for me today. When I heard their screaming after I won, it felt so good. I think the victory was made much sweeter by the fact that I practiced through break. Q There must have been a lot of pressure to win since you knocked out your teammate Shine in the Ro16. A I thought I must get to the Ro4 at least, since I crushed my teammate's dream and soul to get here [T/N: I like shine]. It's also an important period in my career, so I was determined to win. Q What was the pivotal point in today's game. A I had never countered a game like that in practice. I was really stressed because the map is not good for terran. I went with the mentality of 'Do whatever it takes to win' so I thought that even though I don't use dropships often, if I used them correctly, I would win. I thought that if I kept pressuring him I would win. After I cleared the lurkers in center, I was certain he didn't have any defense set up at 9, and I think the decision to hit 9 won me the game. Q You must have been flustered by the stop lurkers. A The map was unfavored towards Terrans, so in a situation where every mistake I made counted, getting my forces torn up by stop lurkers definitely flustered me. Q Are you confident about the rest of your match. A Honestly the map for game 1 was very bad, so I thought that if I just got through game 1 I would win. And what do you know, I won. With this momentum, I think I will perform well in the rest of my games. Q Any last words. A Our team went on break after the end of R2 [in Proleague] but Sacsri and herO[jOin] helped me prepare so much. I want to thank them for my victory today. I thank all of my fans that cheered for me, too, and in 2011 I will try my best to make the finals of both Proleague and the individual leagues. Source: Daily E-Sports
Match3 Modesty <Gladiator> Kal + Show Spoiler +Kal! "I'm happy to have gained the upper hand" On the 31st, at the Yong-san e-sports stadium, Kal the 'Acrobat' topped his teammate Modesty(STX Soul) during day 1 of the 2010 Bacchus OSL 2010 Ro8. - How do you feel going 1:0 ▲ I am happy to be one step closer to the Ro4 but I also feel bad that I had to beat a teammate. - It seems that Modesty was nervous. ▲ He is good in practice but seems tense during broadcasted games. I hope he can get comfortable even when playing broadcasted games soon. Even good players can lost momentum if they keep losing, so I hope he gains his momentum back soon. - Practice must have been difficult to him being a teammate. ▲ Because I was playing against a teammate I couldn't practice much. However I feel that because I had a game yesterday, my game sense was more alive and thus gave me an advantage. - What did you think when you were put up against your teammate ▲ I was somewhat relieved when I saw the brackets because I just wanted to avoid Calm(Laughs). Not only is it because Calm is a very difficult player to face, but because we know each other's playstyle so well, I expect our match to be very difficult. - Pathfinder, the map for the third game, is Z favored; are you bothered by it ▲ I'm still not sure which races are favored/unfavored on Pathfinder yet. However, since the race statistics show that Protoss is not doing so well on Pathfinder, I want to avoid playing it. As a result, I will try to tie up our match 2:0 in the second game. - Must be hard having games at the end of the year. ▲ Yea, it sucks that I can't take a break. Since I won both matches, however, I think I will be able to spend the end of the year in a happy state of mind. - Any last words ▲ Happy new years everybody. Source: Fomos
Match4 HiyA <Pathfinder> Stork + Show Spoiler +Stork! “I want to play against a strong opponent” On the 31st, at the Yong-san e-sports stadium, Stork the 'Commander'(Samsung KHAN) displayed flawless PvT to beat out HiyA(Hwaseung Oz) during day 1 of the 2010 Bacchus OSL 2010 Ro8. - You are one step closer to the Ro4. ▲ I worried alot because my opponent was HiyA. I've been defeated due to weird strategies in the past but today he played a normal macro game, and I think that made it easy for me to win today. - Your play was flawless. ▲ I'm not even sure what parts of the map the observers showed you. However I do think the moments when my probe killed his SCV and my dragoons killed his tank were pivotal to the game. I think those early episodes threw his entire game plan off and shook him up. - Your reaver use was phenomenal today. ▲ I haven't utilized reavers much recently. But today I think they definitely did their worth. If you kill off alot of the opponent's units, even if you don't have alot of units yourself, it looks like you do to the opponent's eyes. I think that's how HiyA must have felt today. - Your fan support was great today. ▲ Even I was surprised. I wanted to make an awesome appearance today but HiyA kept trying to make me laugh by making weird faces. What could I do but laugh(Laughs). I will be sure to put on a good show in our next game as well. - You especially have alot of male fans ▲ I don't think I have a face that females are attracted to[T/N: Please, no homo jokes]. During the first few years after my debut, I got alot of bad comments online about my looks. So I put alot of care in my appearance then, but these days I feel that men look best natural, so I haven't been taking care of my looks. I think race plays a big role too. Protoss attracts male users (see: Mantoss or Rekrul meets THE MANTOSS). - Who do you want to meet in the Ro4 ▲ To be honest, I want to face Modesty, but playing Kal wouldn't be bad either. During the last Starleague, I beat a Protoss in the Ro4 to make the finals. Plus, if I am gonna advance anyway, I'd rather do it by beating out a stronger opponent. I hope a strong player advances so that I don't hear anybody saying 'Blah won because Jaedong and Flash were knocked out early.' - Are you confident in winning your next game ▲ The second game will be played on Icarus, but I've only played PvZ in Proleague. I am happy to have a chance to show my PvT on Icarus. I know that my opponent will be well-prepared as well, so I will be sure to fine-tune my strategy and tie up the match 2:0. - Any last words ▲ I'm facing Bisu in the MSL. I am so excited for the match as he has recently gained his momentum back. Regardless of the outcome, I will play my heart out with the mindset of a student. Also, even though our team is on break, all the Terran players stayed to practice with me. I really want to say thank you. Also, big thanks to Grape and oDin[gm] for following me to the stadium to cheer for me. Source: Fomos

Not that I don't appreciate what you doing, but you didn't really need to open a new thread with "working on it" in it -.-
You can take one of your old posts from your posting history and save your work in progress there. Just a tip ^^

its to avoid having 2 people translate
|
Yeah, I think it's pretty fair to do this. Translating these interviews is very hard and u have to dedicate it a lot of time. So by doing this u make sure our dear translators dont get tired when they do such hard-work and see it was in vain because another translator did it already.
Thanks for your hard work !

sorry, I will be sure to have at least one completed one next time I translate

As long as he follows through I don't see a problem. Doesn't make sense to have two of the same interview translated.
Thanks for the translation rotinegg.

Thank you! Can't wait to read Stork's interview! :D

Thanks for the quick translations

Why is Fantasy blaming Mind? I don't get it.

Oh, I just thought that translators have their own forum where they agree on who does which interview ^^
Nvm, thx for translating!

Question. Arn't the DES interviews usually more interesting? because fomos likes to make theirs concise.

^ lol, Fanta forgot about keeping team spirit up. This is even more funny, because Hyuk stated after defeating Flash in OSL day 5: ▲Even though we're still ranked 1st in SPL, the mood amongst our team is poor. I want to be the force that restores our team's atmosphere.
Hyuk didn't Hyuk himself, everyone in SKT have better mood now.
Thanks for translating

Great interview by Stork! LOL at the fact that HiyA was making funny faces
Protoss is the most manly race, that's why there are so many male fans! :D

Thanks for the translations. Stork PvT beautiful as usual. Mind really kicked it up a notch too. Mind vs Calm battle of MSL champs =\.
|
oooooooo stork so funny and hiya to, when stork appeared all the fans were screaming, and allot of girls , so not very true stork doesn't have female fans (maybe he's just saying that to fly low on his girlfrend's radar)
|
Stork's interview is the only thing keeping me in this OSL. The man knows the situation lols...he better beat Kal so it doesn't seem like a noobstomp all the way to the top.
|
I don't think I have a face that females are attracted to That certainly isn't true. Doesn't he have a gf? That obviously means that he must've been so attractive that she had no choice but to choose him or he just has an awesome personality and they got to know each other really well
|
Thanks for the interviews! I loved how Fantasy called Mind out for the teamkill.
Awesome pictures of JD and Flash though,
|
thanks for translating mind !
|
thanks for the interviews. glad all the people i want to win did
|
Calm ((((
|
Stork <3. This OSL is yours !
|
thanks for mind interview
he is getting better and better hope he represents terrans in later stages of the osl ^^
|
Wow, I thought stork vs. Hiya was going to be completely 1 sided but the interview stated stork played a perfect game?
Thought it wasn't worth it but. Might watch it
|
Jaedong in a santa hat is one of the single most awe-inspiring pictures ever.
|
Maybe Flash stealing oov's bananas is why he couldn't give Fantasy any good builds. Thanks for the interviews!
|
Wow mind beat Calm? Unexpected. I am hoping for Kal vs Stork and Calm vs Fantasy (always epic)
Into Stork vs Fantasy finals (Fantasy finally wins of course) ^^
|
What game/event was that KT santa moment from?
|
Mind winning is awesome. :D
Though did anyone else picture the trollface on Mind after Fantasy blamed Mind for having him teamkill Hyuk? I can't unsee the image.

I hate you Mind >:[RAWR]
Stork being baller with "I want some strong opponents"...!! Song Byung Goo for the OSL!!! As a side-note, at what age does a player begin to be counted as "old"? Is stork sort of old? I noticed that he's 22, and that seems to me as if he's going to be too old (to win anymore ; too soon.
|
I like Mind's new aggressive play style. It's the same style that got him the MSL gold. But he went turtle+ultra safe mode ever since.
Nice to have you back!
Thanks for the translation!

I've always liked that natural nerdy style that Stork pulls off with his simple bangs to the side and glasses.
|
Protoss attracts male users.. tell that to bisu
|
ouch stork dissing modesty hard

LOLOL Hiya can't beat stork when he doesn't do a random build lol. Sony byung goo!

why is it Mind's fault for the teamkill?

He set up the brackets that led to this situation in the Group Selection Ceremony, I think.

Run-on sentences FTW, lolz. Claiming interviews with a first-come-first-serve format seems more efficient than doing the usual gamble of hoping that no one else is translating the same article as you and such. I wonder if any other translators out there share the same feelings as me?
Anyway, Stork's interview was gold as always, and lmfao at Hiya trying to make Stork laugh to throw him off. Ah I love you, Magikarp. Thanks for translating!!

And not everyone has access to those forums.
I've translated an interview before only to see the exact same interview posted about ten minutes earlier. It's a really big waste of time, so this is probably a good idea as long as people follow through with it.

From what I know, the history of post-GARIMTO Protoss can be separated into three eras:
1. The 1st generation: The Three Kings: Reach, Nal_rA, Kingdom 2. The 2nd generation: The Three Neo-Kings: Stork, Pusan, Anytime 3. The 3rd generation: Taekbang into the Six Dragons: Bisu,Stork,JangBi, BeSt[WHITE],Kal,free
So yes, Stork is an ancient relic from the past generation of progamers. He is pretty close to the end of his progaming "lifespan" if past history can be of any indication. The mere fact that he is still a legit top tier contender for the individual titles is miraculous in itself.
Edit: Oho! Liquidpedia actually has an article on it! http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/The_Three_Kings

I do get a little worried about Stork's age, I don't like to think about it but it can't be too much longer before he will have to join the air force. I got into pro BW watching Stork and it would feel so strange watching without him. Bisu and Jaedong can't be too far away either.

Wait, didn't Bisu have a period of dominance between the 1st and 2nd generation, right after he beat the shit out of Savior in 2007 ? Because the six dragon period is his "second" period of dominance, so his 1st must be between the 1st and 2nd generation.

The second generation was around 2005

Anyone else find it funny that the zerg favored maps resulted in a 0-3 for zergs! :D
I think we all want to see a final four like this though
Fantasy vs Calm (when these 2 play in the leagues... it's just awesome fun games)
Stork vs Kal (No, we actually want Modesty vs Hiya... yeah...)
Fantasy vs Kal final would be best. Fantasy vs Stork would be a rematch and great. Calm vs Stork would be bad. Calm vs Kal would be a STX dream.

Thanks for the translation, especially Mind's! It's good to see him kicking asses again, hope he will keep it up.

hahaha Storku!! Going for the gold, gonna take that gold, gonna kiss that gold, gonna go home and sell that gold for year's subscription to Cataclysm. That's what I'm talking bout! <3

I am not sure what you meant by that. O.o
But I think you are missing my point. Stork started his career and peaked at the same generation as Anytime and Pusan. Nowadays we speak Anytime in the same breath as Yellow or Boxer, and Pusan has retired to become a coach. Pretty much all the progamers from Stork's generation are relics and inactive in the current scene.
Hence my point, Stork is old by progamer standard and is clearly near the "end" of his progamer career "lifespan", judging from past history.

No. The first generation is from 2002-2005. The second generation is from 2005 to 2008. 2008 to 2009 is the era of the Six Dragons. The current era is just TaekBang I guess. Bisu defeated Savior in 2007 as a newcomer, begun his first peak and shot for the bonjwa title only to slump horribly after his loss to Mind. The era of Six Dragons refers to his second peak in 2008.
