Currently, we're on our 11th OSL that's sponsored by a company that sponsored a previous OSL. This will also be the 10th of those OSLs that doesn't have a winner that won a previous OSL sponsored by that company, the 9th that doesn't have a previous winner in the Ro4, and the 7th that doesn't have a previous winner in the Ro8.
SKY 2001: Garimto wins
SKY 2002: Garimto out in Ro16
EVER 2004: iloveoov wins
EVER 2005: July wins, iloveoov out in Ro8
EVER 2007: Jaedong wins, July out in Ro16, oov not present.
*EVER 2008: July repeats, Jaedong and oov not present.
EVER 2009: Flash wins, Jaedong out in Ro8, July and oov not present.
Shinhan 05: iloveoov wins
Shinhan 06-1: Casy wins, iloveoov out in Ro24
Shinhan 06-2: Nada wins, Casy out in Ro24, oov not present
*Shinhan 06-3: Savior wins over Nada, Casy out in Ro4, oov out in Ro16.
Korean Air S1: Effort wins
Korean Air S2: Flash wins, Effort out in Ro16
Bacchus 08: Flash wins
Bacchus 09: Jaedong wins, Flash out in Ro16
Bacchus 10: Flash and Jaedong out in Ro16
Interestingly enough, all four times the MSL had a repeat sponsor a previous winner under that sponsor got to the Ro4.

So basically, if Bacchus keeps sponsoring the OSL, Jaedong and Flash will never win another title.

If Shinhan and EVER are anything to go by, the fourth time is an exception but no other times are exceptions.

To be fair, those are some good players, and the fact that they don't win specifically the ones with the same sponsors is quite scary.

Well Shinhan 3 didn't have a repeat winner but since Casy and Nada got so far I'd say it didn't work.

Not true, July won two, just not in a row. The op was pointing out no one has won two in a row by the same sponsor.

Very interesting find. If you combine this curse and Kim Carrier's, you can become a millionaire without fixing games haha.
The fact that's it's almost the opposite for MSLs makes it even more interesting o_o
