“I’ll make sure to rise high this season”



Q: How do you feel about advancing to Ro16 10 times in a row?
A: I’ve been hearing that a lot lately so it’s starting to pressure me, but I was able to laugh when I had advanced. It wasn’t because I won, but the situation was funny.

Q: Do you think Group F was good for you?
A: I was hoping that no one would change my group during the Group Selection, so I was glad it stayed the same.

Q: You played against 2 Zergs
A: I was confident in my TvP as well from practicing a lot of it. I practiced thinking that I might have to play in the final match as well. I never thought about dropping out though.

Q: You showed an off-beat timing rush
A: I use it sometimes during practice and I thought of it on the spot. I needed a bit of luck, but it worked well because I scouted him thoroughly. There was a Drone blocking the ramp and Zergs usually don’t go that poor so I somewhat expected it.

Q: Does it pressure you to win the title because it’s your 10th consecutive Ro16 appearance?
A: It made me laugh rather than pressuring me (laughs). I don’t do well when I advance higher, but I somehow manage to win all my Ro32 games so it made me laugh. It feels so weird too. I don’t even know how I do so well in Ro32 myself. It just works out well no matter who my opponent is. I don’t know if it’s luck, but I usually advance easily.

Q: You probably want to go higher this time
A: People asked me this so much (laughs). During my first MSL, I went up to Ro4 and the fact that I advanced to Ro16 10 times straight makes me feel good. Although my fans were probably disappointed until now, I’ll definitely try my hardest to rise up high.

Q: Anything else?
A: I don’t have anything special to say, but I thank my teammates for helping me practice.

“My goal is always to win”



Q: How do you feel about advancing to Ro16?
A: I was hoping to advance with clean 2-0, but I lost in game 1. The build I used in game 1 is my team’s traditional strategy (laughs).

Q: You showed a strategic movement, but it failed
A: When Zerg spawns at the top, it’s normal for the Zerg to not be able to pass through the Forge-Gateway wall-in even when the Gateway is destroyed. But when my Gateway was destroyed right after it finished, I knew that I made a mistake. If I had just built a Core, I could have been watching the final match at home right now, but it’s disappointing (laughs).

Q: You only played Zergs today
A: It’s my most confident matchup recently and it became my favorite as well. It gets more fun as I play so I think my skill is improving. I used to feel this way for PvT in the past, but now it’s beginning to change.

Q: Did you feel insecure after losing the first game?
A: I didn’t feel insecure. I wanted to play against ZerO again in the final round so I rooted for Hwasin in winner’s match (laughs).

Q: You advanced to Ro16 last season
A: My goal in MSL is to win every time. I always think about winning whenever a new season starts. The fact that I lost my chance to win in the past bothered me. I sometimes think that had I won previously, I would be different right now.

Q: Since Proleague ended, you must have free time
A: Rather than being free, my entire team is practicing intensely for R4 and R5. We must get in top 6 by the end of R5 in order to advance to the playoffs. I practiced for individual leagues too, but since it’s map testing period, I prepared for that and our ranking matches.

Q: How is the new map Triathlon?
A: I think in PvZ, Protoss is better, and I’m not sure about PvT yet.

Q: Did you ever think about using the neutral Arbiter?
A: I wanted to steal it quickly in the beginning, but I changed my build when the game began. You might see it later in the tournament (laughs). I think it’s good that there are a lot of neutral Arbiters around the map. I think I can use it just for cloaking purposes.

Q: Anything else?
A: I always plan to win in every league and to advance to the finals. I was practicing for MSL in middle of map testing and I thank my teammates for helping me practice. It wasn’t that many people, but just the fact that they helped me for my individual league is something to be thankful for. I’ll treat only the people who helped me practice (laughs).
