quick recaps: uw)master (P) vs freaky[mcgill] (Z) (Shades of Twilight): master knew he was in for a rough time against this mcgill ace. he tried to compensate by making just a single cannon in his natural, while freaky went 9 pool and quickly overran him. 0-1 UW. uw)gerbil (ME) (Z) vs pho[mcgill] (P) (Ride of Valkyries): with a pylon denying the natural hatchery and zerg's choice to go 2 base vs f/e, protoss had a slight early lead. Zerg went for a 3 hatch mutalisk build, sniping the first corsair and 2 probes early. However, protoss went for constant corsair production and added a second stargate, somewhat of a counter to the Zerg's build. In the midgame, zerg added a 3rd and then 4th base and protoss harassed with the corsairs, showing intentions of corsair reaver harassment. Protoss expanded the middle island base, but zerg had 4 (purely saturated) bases running. When zerg dropped and killed the protoss' third, even a carrier followup wasn't enough to keep the protoss into the game. gerbil beats the undefeated pho, 1-1 UW uw)jackass (Z) vs oneday[mcgill] (Z) (Neo Medusa): jackass went 12 hatch and oneday went 12 pool. oneday hid 6 lings and as jackass went to attack with his, oneday snuck into his opponent's base and killed 8 (!!!) total drones. However, jackass pulled his lings back to defend, and decided to go for a ling allin as his only chance left in the game. oneday built 2 sunkens but they were taken down by the lings. while losing most of his stuff, oneday managed to get 3 mutas out in hopes of ending the game. However, in the meantime jackass had built 2 spores in his main. with 0 drones left, oneday conceded the game. 2-1 UW uw)monkxly (Z) vs s.un[mcgill] (T) (Heartbreak Ridge): monk went for a (slightly risky) 12 hatch, and s.un went 2 rax, in a bit of a panic, monk built 6 sunkens in his natural as defense, while s.un comfortable took his own natural and started macroing up. monk went for 3 hatch muta, and as the mutas came for their harassment they did crippling damage, killing about 10 scvs and 10 marines. This was enough for monkxly to come back in the game, and even gain a slight advantage. As the game progressed, monk took his third and s.un went for a standard midgame timing push. as monk's macro fell off a bit, things were looking good for s.un with 150 food vs 90 food. However, as monk hit hive tech, a long winded zvt began with many expos and expo-snipes. In the end, monk expanded to the middle and was able to keep s.un from taking a 3rd. As monk added ultras and things, s.un starved out and conceded. 3-1 UW GG. once again congratulations to our team, and for everyone else, this won't be the last time you hear about us :D | ||
