What is this? You all know OSL and MSL, those are the individual tournaments. Proleague, however, is the big league in which the twelve professional teams battle each other.
It is a joint effort between both Ongamenet and MBCGame, each channel broadcasts one half of the league. In the past proleague was always sponsored by SKY. Sponsor Like I already said the past Proleagues were all sponsored by Sky. The new one, however, is sponsored by no less than the Shinhan Bank, who already sponsored the last four OSLs, including all three of last year, as well as the ShinHan Masters. They must be pretty content with the attention they receive due to their sponsoring
Format The first round of the Shinhan Bank Proleague will consist of a double round-robin, meaning that each team will play every other team twice.
Each of these matches is a best of 5. The third game is 2v2 all the other games are 1v1. About one week in advance the coaches announce which players are going to play on which map, so the teams can then prepare their strategies accordingly! The player for the fifth match (called Ace Match) is not revealed in advance. If this deciding ace match has indeed to be played (which obviously can only happen if the score is 2-2 so far) the team coaches will decide on the spot who will be sent out to play it! The coaches' decisions regarding ace match players are often speculated upon here on TL and more often than not also critisized
A player may only be used for one single game (1v1 or 2v2), but if an ace match is played a player may be used again.
After the round-robin play offs takes place between the second to fourth ranked teams. These play offs as well as the finals are best of 7 instead of best of 5 and 2v2 is played twice instead of only once.
Schedule This is madness! Madness? - No, just the schedule. Proleague will be played on five days a week, on each day two matches will be played, one on OGN and one on MBC. That is pretty sick if you ask me.
Maps 1v1 maps: Sin Peaks of Beakdu, Monty Hall, Tau Cross, Geometry, Nemesis, Python 2v2 maps: Chariots of Fire, DMZ -> they stopped using DMZ after a couple of weeks into the season, because almost every game involved SCV Rushes. It was replaced with Vampire, a 2v2 map they had already used last season!
DMZ DMZ is no longer used, it was replaced by Vampire after a couple of weeks due to balance issues!

I really like the new schedule. Recently it was hard for me to find the time to follow progaming at all. Now I can focus on Thursday and Friday. Since the overall number of games will dramatically decrease for me (I will not follow proleague at all) I might even start downloading some VODs again. (I completely stopped because I never knew which of those obviously too many games are worth the download)
Just realized that Wednesday and Saturday is also MSL/OSL day. So altough Im skipping Proleague there will be too many games for me to follow. I really hope Kespa/MBC/OGN will soon realize that not everybody is able to adapt his life only to follow stracraft progaming.

Calm is one of the best 2v2 players stx soul has, and he well, got to play twice today, in the first one he lost to Jy, and well, then ace came and CJ sent savior, who isn't performing well for shit.

more normal people though should be considering maybe only following their favorite teams in proleague and then maybe check on individual matches to see if it's something they'll be super interested in (considering there are like 100+ games a week now)
Can someone explain why the Terrans seem to love SCV rushes on DMZ? Is it only because of the close positions, or is there something else I'm missing here?

Hm.. I thought this was posted before, but I guess not. Entire league schedule: (Btw, I'm not sure what "준플레이오프" means vs just "플레이오프", so I put "playoff" for both).
Interesting fact: so far OGN only had 2v2 games on Chariots of Fire. They used Yarnc/Zeus every time and went 4-1 in doing so. Tomorrow they will play on DMZ for the first time and now they are using Yarnc/go.go[GsP] as team. Will be interesting to see if they are as successful on DMZ as Yarnc paired up with Zeus on Chariots of Fire

Remember, before SKY, when Reach was a 2v2 specialist? 2v2 always seemed more micro oriented; I don't know why he became famous as a macro player.
Reach, even during his slump, was still very good 2v2. Last term, KTF was still number one 2v2 in proleague. Their 1v1 [winless hery, winless aqua] dragged them down to nearly last though T_T
I don't know why Samsung's 2v2 last season wasn't top form. This season they're doing very well, though.
Siga/Reach WOULD be very strong. I wonder if a Samsung Siga team would beat Reach/YellOw. I want to see that in this proleague ^^;

Alright, I finally found the time to make all the updates and compile all the statistics for the last week.
A couple of notes: - Nal_rA lost 3 games this week, going from 5-0 stats to 6-3 - Stork also lost his first game and is now 6-1 - poor Clon is 0-7 by now - Samsung is still unbeaten in 2v2, they are now 9-0 - Sparkyz lost 0-3 twice this week - SKT needs to use oov more (and build consistent 2v2 teams instead of using a different pair each game)! - Sigamari + HOT would probably be the most deadly 2v2 team ever if they were on the same team and allowed to use double Zerg. - Sea has the best stats at the moment (7-1)
Thanks so much Carnac, your thread makes this Proleague so much more enjoyable. ^_^
Other interesting things to point out: - Surprisingly, Boxer has only played 4 times, his single loss being to Midas - No one on Estro has an above 50% win rate in 1v1s - Nal_rA has played the most 1v1s (9) out of any player on any team - Bisu sucks in Proleague :[ 0-4 - Only JanBi and Jju have losing records on Samsung
Just updated it with the last three play days: - Samsung lost their first 2v2 this seaon, now 9-1 in 2v2 - Sea lost two games today (and looked pretty pissed), going from 7-1 stats to 7-3 - CJ Entus and MBCGame Hero have now played half their matches of the double round robin (11 matches), several other teams only have between 8 and 10 matches so far - Bisu really sucks in Proleague (0-5 stats) - FiFo guys are stupid and can't count for five bucks
These misc. highlights are pretty fun to read. How can someone who wreaks so much havok in individual leagues suck so much in PL... Keep up the good work, Carnac.
Note how Clon had only played 1v1 games thus far, losing every single one of them (7!). Today he played 2v2 for the first time and guess what - he won!

On a proleague note though, Sea going 0-2 against Khan? Extremely surprised. I had said that if they sent out sea for the 4th and 5th matches, auto-win for MBC. I think I'm going to have to stop rooting for my favorites - first savior, then sea, next = Hwasin? I hope not

God, the more I think of it the more angry I get at the SKT T1 coach. Like I said, oov was used in only three 1v1 games (which he all won, of course) and one 2v2 game (also won).
If you look at how other teams use their probably best players, who are also known to be good in important situations like ace matches (just like oov, we know he has nerves of steel), here some examples (I don't wanna discuss if maybe another player is stronger on one of the teams, these are just examples):
Maybe it has to do with oov qualifying for both leagues, so they don't force him to practice for proleague at the moment, but will use him much more in the 2nd half of the matches. Maybe.
Bisu's and Reach's poor 1v1 proleague performance annoys me T_T Like total different players in proleague.. : (

As for the latest update: Note how my ranking table is slightly different from the one on FiFo. It's because I rank teams that have basically equal stats, but less matches played overall (as in 5-5 opposed to 6-6) higher, because they still have open games to change it... And no, it has nothing to do with SKTT1 :p I'm almost certain FiFo used that system earlier this season as well though, no idea why they changed it. Oh well, FiFo guys can't even do simple addition, so I'm doing my own thing.
Some notes on the last play days:
SKTT1 lost their last 4 matches. Actually 4 of the 5 matches they lost went to ace..., they could be so easily 2nd ranked, or maybe even 1st ranked, if their coach was but a little smarter.
Lecaf OZ is slowly climbing the ranks, mainly due to their coach now almost always using fOrGG/Jaedong/Anytime as standard 1v1 line-up. Smart.
By.Flash's TvP scares me.
the first re-matches occured by now: Samsung KHAN beat OGN Sparkyz 3-2 instead of 3-0 and MBCGame HERO beat CJ Entus 3-0 instead of losing 1-3 like last time.

KTF and SKT T1 need to stop being ridiculous with Hery and *random SKT T1 rookies*. They either show up and do well and win, or don't show up at all and get mercilessly slaughtered.
It's not worth the gamble though. Especially in ace match.
Then you have their Terran stalwarts, GooDFriend and Midas. Both are very, very strong players. Both also have been doing not so well as aces in ProLeague.
interesting to see so many PvP games on Nemesis even though PvT is 4-8 and PvZ is 3-10 you would think it'd be safe to send out a terran or zerg (TvZ 2-1)?

Few minor corrections under "Detailed team and player statistics": Lecaf OZ's first match was not, in fact, a win over Lecaf OZ, but over Air Force ACE. STX Soul's first match was 3-2 over Pantech EX, not 3-4.
Now those are some really silly mistakes, haha, no idea what happered there, must have been on drugs or sth, thx. Those were the latest matches btw, not the first. Latest result of a team is always at the bottom.

Ratio is almost never used in league tables, so this is mostly likely an error or sloppyness on their part. Seems very odd.
Samsung have been overachieving imo, and they may yet be caught. I give them a 50/50 chance to win the basic season. Likewise SKT1 is underperforming, and maybe CJ also. The rest seems about right.
Finally found the time to update with the games played on the last 3 play days.
Out of the last 6 games played on Geometry 5 were TvT games..., 25 TvT games played on it now, so by now 50% of the games played on it have been TvT. Seriously, they need to get rid of this map -.-
i wonder why proteams play protoss so much on nemesis... P<T 6:8 and P<<Z 3:11 on the map so far in terms of proleague results, but yet protoss have been played WAY more than the other races. i guess the official matches have been turning out very differently from the practise games?
Even without Sigamari they did quite well in 2v2 for a while. Canata/Rumble were undefeated on Usan Nation when it was used. Now they use Canata in 1v1, which is okay I guess, considering his really good record. And I'm sure they could make some decent teams, who would win at least 50% of their games, if they just stopped putting a different team each play day. It works for other teams with inferior players, it could sure work for SKTT1. I simply don't get their policy...

I don't think I ever thanked Carnac for this. If you really look into it I you'll realize just exactly how much work is done. Even one day of updating requires about 10 different stats to update (matches, team stats, map stats, player stats...) it's amazing how clean you keep it and how accurate it is... seriously these kind of things are almost impossible without and automatic data updating progam. Excellent work Carnac, thanks a million for it! You are amazing!!

Even if the pair(s) they set aside don't win at first, with time they'll learn better teamwork, and hopefully improve the worst-in-league 2v2 record.
And I think it's past time the 'play weaker players so they can get some experience', unless they're writing off this season altogether. They need to put a lot of effort into climbing into 4th place to make the playoffs. (4th place makes the playoffs, right?)

I think it's top 8, but I could be wrong. It would make more sense, with 11 teams in the league now.

Yeah maps are... hmm. Geometry sucks, Nemesis is questionable, Monty Hall leads to fun games (imho at least), but is a bit bad for Zerg, Tau Cross is old -.-, Peaks is also old (like it though) and Python seems pretty good.
Guessing by the amount of matches that need to be played before each team has played every other twice, I would say that finishes in about 3.5 weeks from now.
SKT1.. this season.. wow. Their 2vs2 is a joke, the motivation, well there's no motivation. They don't have a leader... all the SKTerrans are useless, the only one still in individual leagues is GoRush and he sucks in Proleague. And the coach has a skill for chosing worst possible lineups. GJ SKT.
I think SKT coach's reasoning was that with so many games being played, he could afford to send rookie line ups to give them more experience. But then, when he felt the team had to start winning again, he started mixing in the veterans... only to find that they were losing too. So now, since they've fallen so far, I think he's basically putting rookies in the line up again to give them experience, and occassionally sending out his veterans just to make sure they don't get too rusty.

MBCGame HERO has won 7 matches with a 3-0 score, 3 of those were within the last 4 play days!
The three best 1v1 players so far this season are Stork (13-4), Free (13-5) and Seas (14-5)
SKTT1 actually won an ace match again..., they even managed to climb from the 11th rank back to the 8th rank, because the won 1 match and several bottom teams lost some matches
By losing twice this week KTF has practically no chance to reach the playoffs anymore

And at the time of those race stats were calculated, that 2-14 is the lowest number of terrans playing. (Oddly enough only 1 less played then the top KHAN's 13-4)
Updated again with today's results, the impact of today's match results on the playoffs is the following:
MBCGame HERO 3-0 Samsung KHAN -> none really, well except that MBCGame is solidifying its position, but their ranks are unchanged.
CJ Entus 2-3 OGN Sparkyz -> before the match CJ was ranked 5th and OGN was 6th, they switched places now!
However it is still highly unlikely that OGN will make the playoffs, because in order to make the 4th spot (last playoff spot), they would have to win both of their remaining matches and they have to face MBCGame HERO and Lecaf in those.
And even if they did so they would only tie in wins with MBCGame, Lecaf and Soul, who except MBCGame all also have other matches left to play.
Updated with today's results. No team that played today is any close to playoffs, so no change there at all. Only 8 matches left before the playoffs start!
Today the last play day of the regular round 1 season will take place. Afterwards it's playoff time! Today's twoi remaining matches will determine whether Lecaf or Soul will end up in 2nd or 3rd place respectively and hence who will play vs MBCGame Hero in the first playoff match and who gets a ticket directly to the 2nd playoff match!
Free is the player with the most 1v1 wins! His overall stats are 17-7. If you look at the table you will see that Hanbitstars has a 1v1 record of 28-42 this season, so this means that Free is responsible for more than half of Hanbit's 1v1 wins and only for 1/6 of their 1v1 losses!
The player with the 2nd most 1v1 wins is Sea, he is 16-5. Third most is Stork with 14-4 (and he is also scheduled to play today).
Most wins 1v1 and 2v2 combined is Yarnc (18 overall, 8 in 1v1 and 10 in 2v2!)

I put the team statistics as well as the list of all the matches in an additional spoiler tag, so you don't have to scroll as much, tell me if this is good or bad please. I simply figured it would be simpler, because in the end people will probably be most interested in what happens in the playoffs and that's at the bottom of the post.
Jaedong's turnaround this season was amazing. From his interview here on May 28th when he was 4-5 and had lost the title of being part of Oz's "one-two punch" all the way to a 15-7 finish. He's been on one hell of a killing spree.
I find it amazing that Free was able to perform so well even with his struggling team. But I'm even more surprised by Fantastic_Namoo and Max. Of course, with Daezang in the air force and GGPlay showing mediocre results, Hanbit never stood a chance. That's why I really hope GGPlay wins the OSL - his team deserves it.
