Multiple choise type serveys for this type of subject confuse me. Some of the later questions are quite interesting to consider and I would be more interested in why the person thinks what they think over if they agree yes or no.

Multiple choise also leads to interpretting the wrong thing from the answer. For example in your question "6. Have you ever felt more emotionally aggressive after playing violent video games?", many people would have to honestly answer yes. Who hasn't lost a game they should have won and felt angry or lost to a hacker and felt angry? However the fact that you specifically state "violent" video games makes me think you actually want to know if the person feels agressive because of the violence in the game.

BUT ANYWAY I'm being too negative I'll probably send you an email/PM tomorrow

edit: pm sent

Starcraft I don't think counts as violent

Although more to the point, you're going to get really really biased responses from the tl.net community- we're not exactly "normal" for most places/communities.

On second thought, asking here is probably better than asking random people on say...4chan.

I completed it. Are you doing research on media violence? I'm doing something similar at the Southern California Injury Prevention Research Center. I'm still not quite sure where I stand on these issues though...

Some of these questions cant really be answered yes/no. For instance here is 2 examples:

13. Do you believe adolescents have the ability to differentiate from fiction and reality?

Yes

No

My answer here would be no, but I dont think adults can either. Many people believe in superstitions and other such garbage that is just ridiculous. Not to mention religion(but lets avoid that debate here)

15. Do you believe external forces such as television, video games, the media have more influence on adolescents than parents do?

Yes

No

This really depends on a number of factors. How much exposure is the child having to these things? What sort of parents does the child have? Are the parents heavily involved in the child's life or not? Everyone is different, it is possible that some people have genetic predispositions towards one or the other. You cant come to a general conclusion about every adolescent.

There are a couple other questions that dont have an appropriate set of answers. I would love to help, but I cant justify a specific answer in many cases.

People can tear your survey apart until they turn blue in the face, but it doesn't really matter. I'm sure you are just interested in satisfying your requirements, and any validly drawn conclusions would simply be a bonus.

However I don't feel like most of these questions actually do contribute towards answering the original question... not that they aren't intended to... but just that surveys aren't a good way of figuring out the relationship between violence in videogames and violence in real life.

I tried getting a lot of people to do it around my neighborhood, but some people hate questionnaires. I gave up, so I'll take anyone's opinion. I learned that a lot of people will make up ridiculous excuses to get out of 5 minutes of simple work...

Like you said I simply just want to completely my assignment, and get a good grade. As far as the questionnaire my professor said it was fine, but thanks for the constructive criticism.

What the hell?! If BBQing poor little mutant dogs that want to rip your face off with raw lightning isn't violent then I don't know what is...
