Hiyo,

So since I started progaming fulltime I've gained ~8kg. This is just a guess as I can't even remember how much i weighed before, but basically, I've put on a bunch of weight.

I'm sure this is a situation many of us who choose gaming as our recreation face on a daily basis. Especially those of us whom have a penchant to eat entire jars of nutella, with a spoon, in a single marathon session of Firefly.

So I'm kind of dreading the day I go to a LAN and instead of people saying "oh I assumed you would be fat", they say "oh its so fitting you're called pig".

So I'm putting an end to it! MOTIVATION!

In the past a problem has been the crazy hours of tournaments and streaming that interrupts my schedule and I get lazy and stop any schedules. So as a solution I'm implementing my 15-minute workouts! Basically whenever I'm done streaming I will do my usual goodbyes and thanks, and then instead of turning off the stream I will turn my webcam to full-screen and start working out on webcam.

This is basically just a silly way for me to force myself to use my audience judging me as a way to ensure I don't just flop into bed. Instead I will select one of my Starcraft-themed workouts and work up a good sweat.

Here are my 2 workouts so far:

6 pool

• Burpees! - 2 minutes
• Stretch - 5 minutes
• Tricep dips - drag in non-wheely chair - 3 minutes
• Bicep curlsx1, hammer curls x1 - power sets - 2 minutes.
• Fly like a badger - 3 minutes

Ultralisk
• Bicep curls x2 sets
• Stretch upper body!
• Hammer curls x2 sets
• Pushups - arms spread x2 sets
• Flys, x2 sets
• Shoulder press x1 set -25 reps

Burrow roach micro
• Squats - 2 minutes
• Stretch - 3 minutes
• Lunges - 2 minutes
• Shoulder press - 3 minutes
• Crunch/situps - 1 minute
• Crossover - 1 minute each side (2 minutes)
• Lower leg/pelvis raises - 1 minute
• Superman - 1 minute

I will answer any questions in chat and take advice on workouts, technique, diet and such whilst I do so. I don't expect many people to watch. This is just me working on myself in a public arena and using that energy of exposure to force myself to push through and keep schedule.

If an unhealthy nerd like me can get myself in shape over the next months with quick workouts like this (and some jogging) maybe I can motivate a few of you guys out there to put in a little work to make ourselves all feel a little bit better about ourselves. I don't just care about appearance (though my face being fat in the mirror does bug me), but also that lethargy that slowly builds through inactivity, eradicating that is something I really want to do. I miss the days of limitless energy running through me! Time to get it back!

Current weight: 93kg

Aim: 85kg by HoTs!

besides that you should do this to stay fit anyway, maybe don't do such things as eating too unhealthy in the first place. It's one of the biggest problems of gaining weight, bad eating habits and unhealthy food.

Checkout Mike Chang (insanehomefatloss) and Scooby1961 on youtube. They have a lot of exercises you can do at home without equipment. Pushups, situps, pullups and squats. The burpees are great too. Good luck fellow traveller.

This will help get u to be more athletic/healthy but you need to work in cardio aswell if u wanna lose weight but keep muscle

If u did one of these + 30 min run or stationary bike youd lose weight super fast assuming youre eating healthy aswell

You shouldnt stretch unless your properly warmed up man. So I'd say incorporate like 10 min of jumping jacks or something because if your just gonna lift, dip, squat, and stretch after sitting on your ass all day your gonna get sore as hell or tear a muscle.

Mixing in a bunch of sprints is great too. Makes your body go into overdrive for the rest of the day ;D

take a close look at your diet if you want to stop gaining weight
this is still cool for staying limber or whatever the word is but you will still gain weight over time unless you are more careful with your diet
instead of them calling you a fat pig in 1 year it might be 2 years, but it will still happen unless you take a precise measure

i would weigh yourself now and then in 1 month and see how it went

Not on a strict diet, but going to develop a set of rules to help make sure the crap stays out of my diet and sticking to regular meals + smaller portions to stop overeating. I'll probably throw up another blog when I come up with a few strict ideas.

@BIG good point! I think 5 minutes of star-jumps at the start of every workout, followed by stretching, will be a great addition to ensure I don't hurt myself

@Marcus420 yeah this is kindof the core of basic exercise even when I'm super busy. If I can keep it up I'm hoping to find it easier to get back into long-distance jogging 2-3 times a week (usually about 8km). That plus diet and I should be able to shed the first 5 kg pretty easily... I hope!

@Zeal- haha I have no idea what this exercise is actually called, 'Flying like a Badger' is a nickname me and my housemates called it randomly a year or two ago. It basically works your shoulders and back and is good for posture I think. You stand there and just hold your arms up like you're getting crucified and wave your hands and forearms up and down slightly, for several minutes. You can add cans of soup in each hand, or bags of rice or sugar to make it harder and harder.

@EtherealDeath haha! Yeah actually I look so bad right after xmas feasts that I should take a photo now! Will take them regularly, and by HoTs hopefully I can workout with my shirt off withouf feeling gross . As for the sprints yeah might go with my housemate to the park where we used to do cardio sets with lots of sprints. Really great for pumping the body up a notch

How tall are you btw. 93kg isn't that horribly bad, unless you're like, 5'9" or something. I took my photo last friday, when I decided to start doing a one week warmup to serious conditioning. So out of shape zzzzz, but I'm 5'5" so I have an easier time getting back into sub 10% shape lol. Probably 3-4 months before I'm around 10% if I don't slack off, although I have done faster conditioning runs before. Although I'm probably too lazy atm to do the helllish run required for something even faster.

Yeah you will gain or lose weight pretty much by diet. Workouts will affect your body composition. You might want to ditch isolation movements like bicep curls, and replace with stuff like pullups and bodyweight squats, which would hit a lot more muscles and induce hypertrophy. Pushups, pullups and squats will give you a lot for what you put in... or do burpees instead of pushups to turn it into cardio exercise.

Easy Diet Tips without changing what you eat:
1. Eat 5 meals a day: more meals but smaller portions keeps a steady metabolism without upping your calorie intake
Breakfast
Lunch
Snack
Dinner
Post-workout snack

2. Make your lunch/breakfast bigger and dinner smaller

3. Drink a lot more water - Aim for 1.5-2L a day

4. Sleep more

Here's my current diet by the way to give you some ideas
Breakfast: 1 glass of milk (somedays Naked fruit smoothies), 3 egg whites, sweet potato
Lunch: Chicken breast, Salad, sweet potato
Snack: Roasted Almonds (unsalted)/Dark Chocolate protein bar
Dinner: Fish or Chicken Breast
Post-workout: Chobani Yogurt + Fruit (Bananas or blue berries)

Once a week, add in bulgogi + rice + kimchee for lunch instead to make sure I get enough carbs
