"9 Muses of Star Empire", a year-long chronicle that follows a journey of an all girl pop group "9 Muses", portrays the every-day life of nine girls, relentlessly pursuing their dreams in a world of jealousy, betrayal, and scandal. "9 Muses" is an emerging girl group, aspiring to perform on a national stage and gain world-wide fame just like millions of others. For that, the girls have decided to set everything aside and live as one of the Muses for "Star Empire"; the entertainment company which created and coordinated every move. But I don’t want to watch a kpop documentary about Nine Muses, they are irrevelavent. They should have done one with SNSD or 2ne1. In this case a smaller group is the best case because every year dozens of kpop groups debut and not all of them can be as big as SNSD or 2ne1. We all have that small group that we wish were a lot popular.
This documentary could probably show us what some talented newer groups have to go through to reach the top 10, because not all of them can shit a song and reach second place the following week.
Kpop has been alive for many years and this will be the first non-promotional documentary of its kind, meaning that its job is not to advertise a group or a company but a behind the scenes look into the kpop industry.

Why are all the characters in your movie passive? They just cry without facing their lives proactively. Isn’t it because you chose unattractive characters?
The way the CEO and mangers treated the girls are sexually harassed and inhumane. Why didn’t you protect the girls’ human rights in this situation?
What is the reason that the teenagers endure the hard trainings? Why did they keep coming to the training despite they were unhappy and wanted to run away?
Nine Muses is probably my favorite group right now. Although their debut was very unfortunate, they have improved a lot. Really looking forward to seeing this documentary and seeing some of the behind-the-scenes of kpop that many people don't normally see. Hope it goes online for free.
sounds pretty interesting.. Unbiased docus are usually really educative.. how would one come by this docu if not possible to go to the premier? Or is the way of the high seas once again the best option..
At the beginning of September I went to Korea for about 2 weeks to see some friends and spend time with my girlfriend. I met one friend for lunch one day and he brought a friend of his to lunch and it turns out that she was a former idol start. I'm usually pretty skeptical of people until I can discern whether they're telling the truth or not, and heck she could have been lying, but I didn't get the sense she was. Anyway, she told me a little bit about the differences between the industry now and how it was 15 years ago, when her group was big, and she said it's changed dramatically. I'm interested to see what kind of things they bring up in this and see how it stacks up to years ago.

No clue how to watch it other than going to the festival, hopefully they upload it online soon.
I just can't wait. The trailer in itself moved my stomach a bit, so I won't be surprise if the full thing just makes feel bad. But yeah, no idea how we could watch it. If anyone ever find a way to watch it, let us know about it ASAP.
edit : I just realized, that, even though it's unbiased, it could boost their popularity like nothing else. And I kinda hope so too ^^.

This is one of the things I hope for but for all newer groups, somewhat a behind the scenes look of newer groups

It's like the stuff when celebrities who don't use their real name just get called by their stage names when they want to be normal for a day, though they're probably pushed a lot harder to dance.
According to THIS french article, the festival's winner will be announced on the 25th of november. I don't know if it's new but I just learned it. The article also says that there is 3000 movies from all over the world that are candidate to titles in different categories. The movie already made it to the finals of the "Music Documentary" category and it's a first time for a Korean media to reach this level. Lastly, it says that the shooting and production took 2 years.
