I feel like this has happene before to other TL users. Well I was hanging out with a family friend of mine in Paris and we were walking around somewhere (Im not even too sure where it was...) ... needless to say, it was kind of cold so I gave my jacket to my friend (because Im a super nice gentelman). Anyways I was a dumbass and I had stuff in my jacket pockets.
Some African guy runs up and takes the jacket from my friends shoulders and runs off. He must have been Usain Bolts cousin or something. Needless to say, GG drivers lisence, credit card, dads credit card (ruh roh Im dead), bank card, hotel card, phone card, and money. Most importantly though, I lost my notebook in which I had written over 40 pages of poems since I got to France.
Lesson learned: dont leave stuff in jacket pockets, and dont give your jackets to girls. Lol.
Luckily, her dad owns a market and gave me enough food to last me a day and my dad Western Uniond me money. But ya.
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. End of story.

If I see a robbery in progress, I'll call the police, but when someone does a hit and run, going after them to be a "hero" is really fucking dumb.

it sucks because it was the only day that I didnt keep my stuff in my direct pockets (ie my front shirt pocket is where i usually kept my notebook)... bad timing for the lose. plus it was a 250 jacket. I mainly care about the poems tho.
Ah well, I went to the modern art museum with my cousin and I wrote for about 10 hours yesterday.

When I went to France I found it quite intimidating seeing 20+ black youths standing in a group. Then I saw they were all eating breadsticks and laughed.

"from what I hear" isn't really a reliable source, mostly because no one says "I was walking down the street one day, and I didn't get robed", ie the evidence bias that comes from people more likely to remember robbery than the lack of it.
Also, as a European, some guy have only tried to mug me once, 3 guys on the train nearly stole my calculator, so I don't think that really counts as a mugging/theft/robbery/whatever.
