Special edition! I played 2 ladder games today, so nothing much to report there (One game, I accidently clumped up my mutas and lost them to a single thor T_T. Should've had that game won. The other one was a clean cheese cleanup). Instead, I off-raced on PTR!

Got placed into plat! Oh yeah! I'm playing Terran to get a feel for the matchup of ZvT. Back in his prime, (Z)sAviOr mostly practiced ZvT as Terran, so there's got to be some value in here.

Okay, so I have literally NO CLUE how to play this matchup. I kinda saw the recent Day9 daily on it. It wasn't Zerg so I didn't really pay attention. There's lots of mech recently, but marine/tank is viable, as far as I understand.

Okay, so I played a game and I got destroyed. One, I had no vikings or hellions and got rolled in a base race since he could kill my workers off fast, but his workers destroyed my tanks =(. Surprisingly, no other TvTs have occured.

I'm probably going to try for a hellion/tank mix. Brood War style. Well, actual Brood War style would involve me massing up thors and medivacs for drop, but that doesn't seem that viable. So positioning is the name of the game, and I think I'd be pretty good at it. Hopefully. We'll see once I actually get some games in.

Okay, this just in, my marine micro SUCKS. Like, I lose every single one of them to banelings every single time. Not to mention how annoying mutas are (now I know how you feel Terrans).

To compensate for this, I've decided to go for mech (following in the footsteps of (T)Fantasy) Turned out, my mech is actually pretty good. Hellion harass, babam! Plus tanks and thors are awesome. The one problem I think is that I keep forgetting to incorporate marines into my mix. And I'm not sure what my building composition should be. For bio, it's pretty simple, but for mech? Do I go like 4 factory 2 rax? What about addons? I'm confused.

As for my build, the only one I know is the MMA reaper expand so I base my mech play off of that, transfering the tech lab to a factory and going for blue flame hellions. Works pretty well, but I need more practice to get the timings down (not likely, since I still have to practice my main race.) I also tried straight up reactor hellions into banshees. Won pretty easily with that too. I think I'm beginning to like mech. If only spider mines still existed.

The only matchup I'm half decent at. I know two builds. A 2 rax marauder concussive and reactor marine push, and I know the 1 rax FE. I do one or the other depending on the map size. My early game is definitely my forte. My micro isn't that good but since I don't have to macro, I actually do pretty well. My macro sucks.

I haven't gotten into the habit of hotkeying my barracks or factories. It's such a hassle. Like as Protoss, you get warpgates, as Zerg, I just hotkey my hatcheries. URGHHHH! It's annoying.

I got the 3 rax reactor starport mid-game, but I have no idea what to do after that. I forget upgrades, I don't know when to get ghosts and I have no clue how to use any other units lol. My ghost micro is decent but everything else falls to pieces, most importantly my macro.


So, that's it. If anyone wants to give me tips on my Terran play, I'd appreciate it. Currently sitting at rank 7 Plat, thanks to my good early game and mech. Also, still looking for practice parters for my Zerg (high masters) if anyone's up for it.

TvT is all about positioning (yeah, I'm sure everyone has heard of this one before) but it's all about finding weak points in their siege line/position and taking advantage of it. You need experience to know when you can cost effectively attack into siege tanks, but don't be too afraid of 4-5 that don't have any marines/helions buffering. Also, one thing that will help a lot is if instead of trying to attack their army head on, you look to take a sieged position on one of their expansions. If you see they're trying to take a 3rd, siege up the 3rd before their command center lands and they'll be forced to attack into your siege line or fall behind. Prepare for counterattacks if you do this successfully.

TvZ if you go mech (or mech in any other matchup really) don't bother going marines. You won't have the upgrades and they'll be useless, and if you do try to get the upgrades then you don't have enough gas for everything else. It's best to get 1 rax, 3 factories (1 reactored, 2 tech labs), and a starport with a reactor for maybe 2 vikings. Timings on when to get out siege tanks and thors are important because if they get a good amount of roaches or mutas you can just die. If they're going a lot of roaches you'll want mostly tanks and maybe 1-2 thors, if they go ling muta then you want a good number of thors like maybe 5-6 as well as siege tanks still, but use helions more often to clean up the lings. Also putting up a lot more turrets than usual won't hurt as much as when you go marine tank since they're mostly a mineral dump.

TvP is pretty straightforward. Your build is good, just obviously keep up with upgrades, get 2 engi bays going after you get 1-1, and figure out what their unit composition is going to be. If you see they're going hts over colossus or a lot of chargelots/archons then get ghosts out asap after you finish your starport.
