I want to talk about a teacher though, he teaches Great Books and AP Senior English, and I have him twice, 2nd and 4th period, respectively. So I went in Great Books and he seems like a great teacher, he's funny, smart, really relaxed, and the class just seemed like it will be a blast. The class gets to choose how many books we want to read, when projects and stuff are due, etc. So it's all democratic, majority rules.
Then I walked in his class again for AP English and the whole atmosphere was so different; he's strict, not as humorous, and mostly the opposite of the teacher I met only an hour ago from Great Books. In here, he discussed all about honesty; we had two summer readings, Kite Runner and Vanity Fair (the second one is impossible to read) and I didn't read any of those; the Kite Runner seemed interesting from what I read on the internet but I never got the order from Amazon. So he gave us a little prompt on what we thought about Vanity Fair but if we didn't read it, then don't answer and be honest and say you didn't read it. IT was horrible and then he said he would give us another quiz tomorrow so I studied on cliffnotes, gradesaver, and other websites. But it was all futile, as he said again, if you didn't read it, be honest and write down that you didn't write it. Wow, this teacher can both be inspiring in the fact that he wants honesty but I hate how this is killing my grade. The good thing was though that nobody tried to lie, as the teacher said that he wasn't suprised by anyone's answer. (If we attempted to answer the question but didn't finish the book and we got caught, he would've failed us.) Long story short, this teacher is really different from others, in the fact that he can act almost polarized and also his brutal honesty.
But that's nothing compared to this; I think my grandma has dementia. She came over the summer to live with us in the United States for a year and my mom has told me ever since she came here (and perhaps had this before she arrived) she's been saying some strange things and forgetting and recently, it's getting worse. For example, she asked yesterday what my name was and then today she said she forgot her own name. Then while riding in the car she's asking if we're in some place in Korea and then asking where my uncle is... I'm really worried about her, what if she starts to forget everything and becomes almost a vegetable if we take her to the hospital? Anybody else experience a close one having a serious disease?
Oh yeah, and also college applications. How many colleges did you apply to, and how important are the essays?
