I hate reading these comments about him being stupid and stuff like that. First of all, it seems like most of you have read through the lines and didn't understand one thing.
He is complaining that in Starcraft it is hard to get into a position to actually play a game against some opponent.. That is right. It doesn't take 30 minutes to join a game at D level of course, but I know, as a person who can't host a game it takes some time to join one.
He even mentioned - he double clicks on the games and can't get into the game. Doesn't this sound familiar to you? Now, the best option for him of course would be to be able to host a game. If it is impossible there's one thing about bnet maybe he doesn't know. You have press join, double click some game and if it doesn't work in 10 seconds, go back to channel and press join again. Because this way you will get a fresh list of games and have a better chance to find an empty game.
And of course at the begining join just D/D- games, this is something you probably know already. Hope that helps.

since you claim to be D- and are having trouble getting iccup running, i suggest just playing some 2v2v2v2 BGH games or 3v3 BGH games on USEast. Not only is finding a game worlds easier, but it gives you the opportunity to work on broad fundamentals (macro/keeping your money at 0, unit composition, positional considerations, some micro, handspeed, hotkey comfort, basic multitasking). Moreover, they are SUPER fun especially if you have a friend! Once you've played a hundred or so games of that, your brain will feel much more relaxed and you'll probably be able to reach D+ with much more ease.
in other words, be glad you're having iccup troubles! go play some fun games so that you can take a break from your issues , bash some scrubs, AND improve!! :D

can you beat a computer?
what i recommend you do is get a pro replay of each of your matchups. you play terran, so obviously get a TvT, TvZ and TvP. in each of those games, assuming both of the players play standard, write down the terran build order. then, go into single player and execute this build order against a computer. if you do it perfectly you will have no trouble maintaining a D record. terran is one of those races where you seriously can win games just by macroing hard, so a great way to start is to just memorize a build order.

1. I know that 2. You didnt fucking read what I said
I said it's HARD to get a game running, harder than wc3, harder than most games. Why cant you take a critic about SC for christ sake ? It is harder than WC3 (to get a game running), but I think you are exaggerating / having some bad luck. In my experience, finding a D level game takes about 5 seconds on ICCUP. Hell, just create the game yourself and people will join almost instantly (as long as it's the MOTW). Unless the MOTW sucks, like this week, all the games i've been seeing are on outsider.
But non-motw maps that usually attract a lot of people are python and destination, and you could probably get away with blue storm, othello, heartbreak ridge, and neo medusa. But don't make it on LT or some random map in the mappack.

I'm confused, you have the internet capabilities to play wc3 w/o lag but not to play starcraft? The set-up can be a bitch (especially if you're not computer oriented) but it's not particularly brutal. Can someone explain to me what forwarding my ports means? What are my ports, I honestly have no idea what that means but I would like to be able to host games

Try turning off lag latency. It is nice, but for some people it causes gigantic lags. Of course most people will refuse to play with you if you turn it off (because this affects their "uber D+ micro"), but there is a chance that the lag will end.

If you think it sucks and are so negative no one needs you here. Quit, I don't think people are concerned about some guy who can't play SC. Want to get better? Don't whine, go to Liquipedia and play games. Simple, amirite?

What more could you ask for? I could ask for a blowjob + me being French is very relevant here. You wanna go into this direction, really, HUNGARY ?
Lol pwned.
But on-topic tho. Imo ive been playing starcraft for years and i still suck, some people just are destined to suck at certain games(like me and you) and never get good at them unless u dedicate ur life to it(which we wont). Im only playing UMS on battle.net nowadays, im to shitty to do anything else.

Thank you very much to the people who understood my frustration and gave me information about Starcraft Bnet, ICCUP, BGH etc.
To all the haters:
I'm someone motivated, you judge me because I'm a WC3 player ? I watch the OSL, the MSL, the PL Finals. I play on Liquibet, I download replays, I play on hamachi with friends, I obs the games with better players to learn.
If you trashtalk people like me when they think something is hard to learn, that community is really fucked up.
Thanks to everyone else, see you on ICC

Oh and by the way, going "lol French, nice military" REALLY makes TL above WCReplays or 4Chan. Sad.

You come in on a starcraft fan website, saying starcraft is bad. What did you expect? We dont owe you anything you whiny little frenchie so stop acting like a victim. Get off your lazy ass and look things up (read: Liquipedia)

How to host games on ICCUP:
1. Go into your router GUI by typing it in your browser, it's usually 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1
2. You may need a username/password, these usually come in the box with the router on a peice of paper or in an instruction guide that came in the same box. If you can't find it, ask your dad or mom :3.
3. Locate the security settings/port forward/open ports, the router GUI is different for each supplier so if you have a hard time finding it, google.
4. Open port 6112 TCP/UDP for your PC. To check your IP address follow these steps: i. hit windowskey+r ii. type cmd and press enter. iii. type in ipconfig, locate your local IPv4 address, that's it.
5. Log onto iccup, do a /motw and pick a map you like.
6. host a game, I use the title "1:1D motw no r"
7. ???
8. Come back to teamliquid and whine about 1a2a3a.

I actually agree with you, I get very annoyed with trying to play SC since there's basically no way in hell to get decent practice (unless you can speak Korean).

Seriously Starcraft Sucks
We aren't judging you because you are a WC3 player haha.

I can host at home (night) but not at the office (day). The best would be to have an IRC chan with D / D- players willing to custom game.
There are a few ICCUP channels like that but they were all sleepy when I went there.
My 6112 / 6114 is forwarded at home, I cant do that at work.

man don't play iccup
BGH >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> iccup

You don't come to a Starcraft community site and say something like "Starcraft sucks. It's hard to get games. It's hard to play the game. The game sucks."
Did you really expect people to react nicely? It's not what you were saying that caused people to trashtalk you. It's how you said it. Ask nicely and people answer nicely. Ask rudely and people answer rudely. Sure there are a couple of idiots and trolls here and there but those get dealt with most of the time.
Before you start calling this community fucked up, take a look at yourself and realize that it is you and your actions that are fucked up which is why you are not welcomed by most.

Thanks to everyone else, see you on ICC you're probably the biggest idiot on TL I have ever seen, and the community comment is hilarious because WCR forums is probably the worst POS ever, i'd rather read 4chan
btw when I first learned about iccup in season 1 it took me literally 5minutes to download it including maps and starting a game, you should keep playing war3
