I think I made a topic about slumping last year around this time. Thankfully now I'm much better than what I was, but I still can't escape this bug known as the 'slump'.
Everything was going good until the MOTW change. I had just hit C and was climbing up to C+ (oddly enough I beat a C+ rank player before I beat a C rank player, but hey I'll take it) and was about halfway there on Sunday. I lost a few games in a row on Destination (my mass-gaming map of last week), but hey, no big deal, I'm not going to be able to win every game. Even better, I watched the replays from those losses and noted big mistakes that I made in each one, and had I not made each mistake each game I most likely would have won at least a few, if not all of them.
Suddenly, paranoia. The MOTW changed.. it seemed as if the iCCup admins were out to get me. Outsider.. a map I truly hate and dread playing, and have no idea how to play on really. Tau Cross, a pretty good map but a map that I never seem to do well on, especially in PvT (my PvT is miserable regardless, but still). Wuthering Heights, an excellent map but a map that no one seems to play (especially Koreans). Return of the King, another map that seems good but no one plays, and God's Garden, a purely macro map that really bores me to play on cause there isn't anything unique about it.
Am I a picky person? Apparently, since I just complained about God's Garden being too boring but Outsider being too weird, LOL
Anyways, I'm forcing myself to play on Outsider and I'm trying to learn how to play that map versus how to play on other maps. As you can see, it's not working out so well.. 3-12 since the MOTW change (2-9 on Outsider).
Why the slump? Probably cause I'm playing players better than I'm used to, but I think at least some of it has to be attributed to the MOTW! Even though the maps aren't even anti-Protoss (that I know of).
Anyways, I just needed a rant post I suppose.. and I'm anxiously awaiting next week :p
