ok, ive been infected with a virus/malware, and im pretty sure its 'braviax', as i noticed the exe was braviax.exe. it had an annoying popup in the bottom corner of the taskbar, so i went into programs and ended it, and then into msconfig and stopped it from loading on startup.

i tried to heal with avg but it didnt seem to work :S

how can i fix this problem? im not good with computers, does anyone have any tips to removing it?

Run a good antivir/antispyware in safe mode for starters. If you got it through a trojan then disabling the program or removing it wont do the trick since it'll just pop right back. You could TRY a system restore if you have it activated. From what i've heard that often doesn't do the trick though. Try googling it and finding more precise information.

I don't know anything about that specific virus so i can't really say anything specific about it. Deleting the .exe most likely won't do the trick if you got it through a trojan though. I wouldn't feel safe just doing that. I suggest you google the problem and try to learn more about it. For antispyware i'd recommend spybot s&d.

You should DL Malewarebytes. It's a really good anti maleware program. Much better than AVG at removing infections. I still use AVG but it doesn't really do much if it does find a virus. I use the free version of malewarebytes to run scans once every couple of weeks. If it finds a virus, it will most probably delete it. GL!

It means its not completely removed. Another free and effective anti-malware application is ClamWin.

Also, you can almost always find out information on a particular virus by googling it.

It might be there and it might be not. To be completely sure run multiple scans with different programs under safe mode. No 1 program has a 100% detection ratio, so using multiple programs will help.

I recommend antimalware, superantispyware, asquared, and try using a free trial of NOD32 suite. Also post a hijacklog so I can take a look at it if you can.

Scan your PC using thsi web site: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

It's really good and normally find anything on your PC. You then can search the virus he found via google to find the correct way to remove it.

Running scans with both at the same time can cause conflicts and/or false positives.

i mean, can i leave AVG running, not scanning, just sitting there to detect anything if a new virus pops up or whatever, and run malwarebytes?

Yeah that shouldn't be a problem.

Remember to do it in safe mode and don't start any more programs than necessary.

If you've scanned with two antispyware programs and used AVG, all in safe mode and it didn't find any keyloggers then you should be safe. The only way you can be absolutely positively 100% sure is if you just format. I take it you don't want to do that though. And most likely you should be safe if your antivirus/antispyware stated that it did detect and remove something, and you don't see any signs of the virus lingering on your computer.
