I was doing a free-write thing to energize my brain. The quoted passage popped out at a whopping 77 wpm.

Fiction is a perversion of the truth we hide from ourselves. It is no small wonder how people can open parts of themselves up to stories, myths, and legends. What they see in past is secure, and it is through the past they see the future. Who among us takes a moment to truly look into the present, to see rippling facets of reality?

Some still persist in what will be. What should be. Long-term thinking has a place in current actions, but it is another filter through which people can miss things in the present. To surrender something to the past is to never fully understand it.

Truly, it is good and pleasant to be in the present.

Have any of you read anything like this before that you can direct me to? This is unbelievably interesting to me and I don't know why.

I really dont know what you're asking for? Basically you're saying that you think your writing is OMG amazing and you want to know if anyone else has ever matched your brilliance?

Sorry for being so bitter but thats just how it seems to come across.

I read it as: he has text and he wants help in finding where the text is from.

Have no idea from where though

Or is he looking for instances where authors have put their past into a fictional story/character?

I am confused.

hmm well he said that he was doing a free write thing, implying that he himself wrote it.

Then he talks about wpm, which is usually measured from programs that have text, and then you kind of repeat it back to the program to get a wpm number.

Not sure which one he did I guess?

If he can't even explain what he is doing clearly I doubt his "creative-writing" will be readable.

lol my bad I obviously didn't explain my intentions.

I'm wondering if this little piece reminds you of any authors/books/anything else any of you have read.

And to try and explain it a little bit, imagine that everything you see is through a red filter. You can change filter colors and make it blue, yellow, or whatever you want. But you have to see it through a filter.

Now, go with me on this, imagine that everything you see is perceived through an unconscious filter set by repeated actions of your conscious. You interpret details, events, and mannerisms through this filter. And, in the context I'm talking about, you have a choice between three different "colors." You can choose to always think about everything you see in terms of the past, or events that have happened before. Everything has a reference to something beforehand.

You can also choose to think about everything in terms of the future. Anything you encounter has immediate ramifications on the "if this happened" or "should be" thought trains.

And finally, the last filter is just you being in the present. You experience every event as though its the first time, because it is, and...I'll definitely write some more and better on this. I have a big idea about it.

But what I'm wondering is if theres other stuff like it. I find it incredibly interesting.

And the 77 wpm thing just happened to be the last typing speed test I took. When I typed it I was going relatively full throttle and I said this to emphasize that this shit just popped out (hows that for a mental image).
