Great pictures as usual (in fact I think they might be getting better ) :D

This one is cute, the lighting is nice; it looks like the grass is stalking that leaf lol.

Theres something I really like about this, it seems so simple but the composition, colors, depth of field all just make it a really nice photo

Your composition is great on all of the pictures; something I noticed could've used some improvement in some of your older proleague pictures.

I've been meaning to get out and take some flower pictures lately.

Great shot. I really like this one, don't know why but it has so much in it that it just it's mind-blowing.

Care to do some more shots like this just to our viewing (or just mine) pleasure ?

Very good pics. They're not perfect but very good. I think you will be one hell of a photographer

You have a good sense of pic composition and how to use the functions of the camera

It might just be your style, but personally I would like to see some more vivid pictures. They all look a bit "stale" or "slow" in lack of a better word.

Wow - 'stale' and 'slow', that's pretty much some of the most horrible/hurtful things anyone has ever said about my work. You sound as though you're a highly experienced photographer so I'd prefer some advice about how to make my 'stale' and 'slow' photos perfect. I'm working with a Nikon D40x and Sigma EX 70-200mm lens so feel free to share your con-crit in a less vague manner.

It wasn't meant in a negative way, just things you can work on. I like your photos very much btw =)
So really don't take it the wrong way. I just wanted to be of help and say something else besides "awesome pics!"

I'm not highly experienced at all, I barely know how to take a picture. Nikon D40 is a good camera, I had it myself.

Sorry if I made you feel bad or something.

I think I understand what he means; not that I can say it any more precise.

The photos look very good, but something in them is missing.
(Like they say with cakes and the love as secret ingredient.)

I have no knowledge whatsoever on photography, but I'd say that you focus on catching details and stuff, rather than trying to catch the atmosphere and the 'flow of the moment'.

I hate myself for saying it like that, but I know no other way.

EDIT:
Also, I think we need to get you a spot here on TL, coz these photos deserve more than a blogpost.

If they're missing something that crucial then they don't deserve anything more than being a blog.

I honestly don't understand what you're getting at - do you have any examples of the type of photo I'm meant to be taking? It's just my personal style - but if it's slow and stale and missing something that would actually make it good then it's not really worth the effort to take them in the first place.

These aren't meant to be for anything grand or important - they were simply my attempt to share the place using photos -_-

You'd be better of not taking what I say too to the heart coz, once again, I don't know what I'm talking about.

Now that I said it: In my opinion, the photos are definitely very good, and very worthy of the special corner in here.

As far as for me, I don't know, it could be as simple a thing as the photo being oriented vertically rather than horizontally that gives it a kind of 'claustrophobic' look.

Just take my comments on this as a load of bull - if you can't make any sense of it, there probly isn't any to it.

I hope you're aware that criticism(which is in essence just feedback) makes it possible to progress faster than usual.

How would you be able to correct mistakes and make even greater photos in the future if there were no criticism?

Wow excellent work. Your photography involving the pro-scene is always appreciated, but this departure is filled with powerful shots too. I especially liked the water wheel one.

I believe what he believes to be missing is contrast. Compositionally your photos are very well done, but they lack eye grasping highlights and shadows, which destroys eye movement, which ruins your image =[. The good part is that it's not at all a hard fix. You can fix it "manually" by using a cheap ass UV filter or a not so cheap GND filter on your camera, or by playing with the curves adjustment in photoshop. Contrast is the icing on the cake, if its not there it's still a cake, but is it very appetizing?

As i've been in your position before (multiple times ~_~) I understand that it can be a pain in the ass to hear things that you don't necessarily agree with (especially when the advice comes from someone that doesn't know what they're talking about, also has happened multiple times ~_~), but in the end I guess it does make us better, even tho it can bring us down sometimes!

It's still very good work though, don't let my essay responses make you think any different ^_^

Fresh kicks!

Edit: and come on NeverGG, let's see some confidence in your work! Part of being an artist is taking criticism. Ignore it or thank people for it. I feel that your overreactions to overwhelmingly-positive posts with one nit are making reading the comments on these blogs sort of depressing. You are giving the impression that you see every little criticism as an earth-shattering blow to your skill as a photographer! We all think you take great pictures.

I feel like more of these pictures are coherent. The feeling I get when I first see the picture, and then when I look at it more closely match, which is nice.
Yeah, don't take criticisms personally unless it's a personal attack or just absurd; no one's perfect.

Quagsire sticker ftw?

Edit: Wow, after reading all the comments, I decided it's best to keep my mouth shut. I am fully aware that I know next to nothing about photography. I just thought I'd throw out another thank you to you, NeverGG, I love your work. The Proleague pictures are always appreciated, but I particularly like these ones. It's good to see some of the beautiful things around South Korea, whether natural(Flowers, grass "stalking the leaf", etc) or not(Quagsire, your wicked white shoes ).

I have a UV filter fitted to the lens and I edited every single photo using the contrast/brightness tool. If I'd gone any further up with contrast or down with brightness then it would have looked (to me on my laptop.) as though I'd used some cheap filter on PS. It might be the settings on my laptop, but the OS is in Korean so I can't change them.

Also I have a stickied thread in BW forum and despite it being front paged no one commented or looked so a photo corner is totally redundant. There was talk of a gallery for my work, but it's really low priority so I just post in BW and blogs now.

Personally, I'm very impressed with these photos and in contrast to what most people have said I find most of them really "pop". There are some that don't ... but they are still good for the content. If I could get personal photos to even look 10% this good I'd be a happy camper. You've got talent.

I also agree that you get offended too easily. It must be part of your personality ... probably not the confident outgoing type ... but you should be proud of these. Have some confidence, take the criticism, and then decide if the person offering it really doesn't have a relevant opinion or if it actually carries some weight. In this case, they might have something but if so it is very minor. Like you, I couldn't fully understand what they are talking about but since I have very limited photography experience it would be easy for me to miss the finer details too.

Just keep up the good work! The way you frame the shot makes me go "wow"! That water wheel one truly is amazing.

Wtf does a "slow" or "stale" picture even mean? Don't listen to those mofo's, they even admitted they don't know anything about photography.
