![]() I sometimes have trouble relating to numbers, as in X mio. unemployed. To me it's just seems like a number, but the social hardships and economic troubles ehind each and every one of those millions needs to be remembered. I hope you will find a way of this crisis.

then you hear things like this and realize each number is also a person. Meh. Tough. Tbh I blame unions for making totally irrational demands for so long; I think it would be better if we employed more workers at lower wages - and I think on the whole workers would rather accept that than sacrifice large #s of their own population. Anyway, best of luck; America will pull through.

The only thing you can do is start your own business, my mom was working at Barnes and Noble and they tried to cut her hours (it was full time -- ![]() Talk to your parents and figure out jobs they can get that exploit rich people's money. Oh, I almost forgot... good luck to you and your family, there is work out there for your parents, I know with my dad there was a short period where he was too depressed/upset to seriously look for one, so I hope your parents are able to deal with the situation appropriately.

You and any siblings you have are probably eligible for so many kinds of student / educational / minor grants and handouts; I would look into it...it all came from the taxes of your's and your parent's hard-earned income anyway. Off the top of my head I'd say you are qualified for at least 4-5k (per semester?) only based on the circumstances you mentioned. Selling weed is definitely not a fun, fast way to make money either.

To give a little more info on the situation, the company my mom worked as an accountant for a tiny pharmaceutical company that has slowly been laying off more and more employees to the point where she was one of 6 left in the whole company including the CEO and COO. They keep getting lumps of funding only to have it blown on frivolous crap by the higher up executives like getting reimbursed for all manner of leisure items and claiming it's for business. The CEO is the stereotypical dumbass at the head of a company making ridiculous sums of money and still getting the company to pay for every damn thing he can, marrying and shortly divorcing many times (on his 5th wife or some crap), etc. All the head execs are his buddies as well and are just as guilty of wasteful spending of the company's cash on personal items. Basically I hope they all get hit by some serious karma. Between them and the whole IBM debacle with laying off my father I've got a growing hatred for execs and management. As pissed as I am with them I'm equally pissed at myself for being too fucking stupid to get a decent job to help. Like I said in the previous thread, I know there are plenty of people in worse situations so I realize my plight probably doesn't seem as bad to some but this is honestly the scariest financial situation I've ever been in. I admit my life has been one of privilege in comparison to many which makes this rapid decline all the more frightening. Makes me feel constantly uneasy and I have to try really hard to allow myself to enjoy anything anymore. I feel like I just need to keep my face to the grinder and keep working as hard as is humanly possible to get promoted so I can help. I feel so damn helpless and weak. Powerless. What scares the living hell out of me is the possibility that we could lose the house and have to move. Call me sentimental, nostalgic, whatever but I grew up in this house and have lived here all my life and I'm so damn scared of losing it.

OP: Hang in there and power through and the economy will eventually bounce back, both globally and personally. Wow those executives sound exactly like the stereotypical "evil executive" in movies and stuff. But I guess thats pretty common, assholes with power getting ahead, it's like the human drama in micro-size.
