this used to happen to me all the time when i played in my band. my bass strap would rub up against it and at the end of every show it would hurt soooo bad; i would complain all the time

yep 100%, i adjust my strap to specifically avoid this

Haha I just play at home and I actually have a really nice strap now but I used to have this real bitch of a strap, a cheap fucker who would ride my shoulder like a fucking belt sander. Now I understand spending the extra bucks on a nice soft leather strap.
