I agree, but I don't see how that's a problem. I never complained about bunker rushes and proxy 2gates in this thread.

btw i don't mean to take anything away from those games but the opponent in game 1 is D- at best. he was horrible and it was just you punishing a bad player :/ the other two games are better though.

so 5 pool is still getting early lings and praying your opponent went for a fast expansion build. there's a difference between that and actually punishing a FE toss after knowing he did so. 5 pool is simply gambling in the dark.

Yeah he said attempt. The attempt generally fails miserably against 1base.

Either (1) you're right that 5pool blows against everything, in which case everyone before you who complained about how 5pool is cheap/quick win is wrong, or
(2) 5 pool works well vs something (i.e. against FE protoss), which I think is equivalent to an 8rax in tvz. In that case, people who complain about 5pool should also be complaining about 8rax if they are to be consistent. But no decent player complains about 8rax, so those people shouldn't complain about 5pool either.
It's probably (2). Just watch July vs Best finals. That's all I'm going to say about 5pool. If you want to debate more about 5pool, PM me instead.
@OneOther. Yeah, I made a mistake. It was an old game and I lumped it in with the two new ones. First one was probably a D+ game (which is not to say that my opponent was actually a D+ player).

If you think he's going to 1 base and you think 5pool sucks vs 1 base, it wouldn't make sense to 5pool. He said "regardless of what the opponent does" and my point was just to show that that part is false. 5pool is meant to get a quick win against FE, the same way 8rax is supposed to get a quick win vs a 12hatch.
It's sad that so many people are caught up on the 5pool and are missing the other two great games.

what's wrong with 5-pool it's a really exciting build makes for great and unusual games..
Other really cool builds are 7pylon-7gate on destination, 8-rax etc etc.
And you know whats funny? while im typing this I'm watching modesty doing 4-pool at GOM its a part of the game get used to it

I don't get the fuss about the 5pool, only thing that annoyed me about that game was that he said it was played on C+ level in the op, and then the protoss turns out to be a D/D- player. It's not fun to watch when your opponent is so much worse, even though its a sick comeback. I liked the other 2 games though.

haha, nicely done with the ZvT. I used to always do 4 hatch hydra ZvT and then try to transition into some some of hydralurk thing, but I'd always get raped by 2 fac tank.

yeah i got 4 pooled by this zerg on destination. i was doing the usual FE, scouted him with my 8 probe, and arrive upon a nearly completed pool. joy -_-
