You know what I am FED UP!!!
I hate history. I hate the assignments, I hate the rooms, I hate the desks, the chairs, the window at the top. I HATE IT ALL.
Whats the point of writing a billion essays. I have other subjects to worry about. I spend most of my time on history assignments. The worse part is that I try so hard, and I end up getting like a maximum 70% (and thats rare), even though I go to the library at day one of the assignment.
In other writing assignments in other subjects I do fine, but in History I screw everything over. I dont get it anymore T_T. I cant wait till this year is over and I will never have to take another history course again.
History is also cutting into my sc time... every time i get time from other subjects im doing history assignments. I have 3 due after the easter holidays. all are major. And I havent procrastinated at all...
Screw you history, b/c in the end, ill be laughing at you and you will have to tap out. GG, and ill be like gg no re. hahaha ....
I dont get how people become historians... just sitting in the class drives my crazy. My eyes turn red, along with my ears and the rest of my face... its either boredom or something in the room... probably both (doesnt happen all th time though).
just... a few.. more .. months.. TT

History sucks when you get a bunch of dumb assignments for it, but I love history. I'm sure if you had a better teacher (at least from the sound of it) you would too.
I would prob major in history if having a job in it wasn't just either writing books or teaching :\
|
I love history class. If I could easily find a job that paid well as a history major I would totally go for that over the math and science classes I have to take now. I love writing papers not doing calculations
|
There might be a problem with your approach if you're having trouble with history...
Learning to learn is one of the most important skills you'll ever develop while you're young. If your method isn't working, don't keep doing it... figure out a new approach.

I agree with the guys above me, history is really interesting but opens up 0 good job options, which is the reason I'm not doing it.

I agree. History is really fun for me, but you either end up being a teacher or a writer if you decide to major in history.

The problem is not history, the problem is that school doesn't teach history, it teaches a fairytale.
|
I would have hard time with history if I had a different history teacher.
|
One of our beloved reds is a history major.
|
Pun intended.
|
i LOVEEDDD HISTORY

Yup, history would be so much more interesting if it wasn't dumbed down to a monotone which everyone has learned to agree on. Anything controversial is left out, so whats left is truly boring.
What type of history are you studying?

Agreed, what kind of fucking job can you get by knowing who killed who on Palmito Ranch.

I do Modern History for my HSC Course. It's pretty good because you actually learn something every day.

I think history is really interesting. if we dont understand the past, how will we guide our future?
|
History has always been my strongest subject by far. My father and older brother were History Majors. I learned from their mistake.

It should be related, but you don't HAVE to be a historian just because you were a history major. For example, history is not a terrible major to go with if you like it and plan to go into graduate school in economics or the like.

i also have a class that i hate with a passion. it's called dimensions of culture 3 here at ucsd. first of all, the name of the class is "imagination" which makes me question, why the hell are they making us take this class. it's definitely one of the most retarded classes i've taken as all the assignments are like busy work that just make you write bullshit. it doesn't even really help my writing at all, they don't give us any guidelines on how to make our writing better or anything. it's just "here's the prompt, give me 5 pages of bullshit" sort of thing. in discussion section, the ta made us analyze barbie girl by aqua. i was like wtf, give me my time back =_= haha, loved it when i heard some dude in class go like "the bird chirping sounds in the beginning and the end make it so the barbie world is a fantasy", i'm like where the hell did you think of that -_-
people who actually like to analyze songs, poems, and stories, props to you but it sure isn't my thing lol
anyone bound to marshall @ ucsd, beware and prepare for this crap lol
anyway, good luck with the class dude, hated those essays i had to write for ap us history too lol

Sonu, are you in highschool?
Highschool history classes tend to be taught by athletics coaches, because stupid administrators think you can just teach history by following the text. They're completely wrong.
|
Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
|
Thing about High School History Teachers, they rely way to much on the crappy textbooks. Barely scratching the surface of that topic, you learn more watching the Military channel or WIKIPEDA. These so called history teachers are bullshit.
|
This is my favorite class. I plan to major in in history. Perhaps you should look at things from another perspective and try to be optimistic?

aside from wars, Canadian history is pretty darn boring imo

I love history, but you are going crazy when having it at school in Germany. You have history classes from like 7th or 8th to the 13th (last) grade. All these years can be put into one single expression: WW2. You do nothing else than reading about how bad you should feel because you were born German.
|
history class is fun when you get a lazy, smart teacher sit around discussing all day instead of doing work that hed have to grade.
|
read more, thats all i can say. and thats what history is about, reading.

well I guess the gov't doesnt want any Nazi's right?

Well I for one dont care what some guy with puffy pants did in the 1700s, iv tried being optimistic, and I have tried going into different perspectives.. doesnt work for me :o
I dont like history from 1500s to WWI... the only thing close to history that I might like is Civics

It depends. If you only think wars are interesting, then sure, but that could be said for any other country as well.
Our war history is unbelievably awesome though. We had some amazing people in our military in WWII.

This is a universal problem; most modern states have a centralized curriculum in which political bureaucrats determine content of history classes. At its best, history is an intellectually liberating discipline, and at its worst, a medium of indoctrination.

Maybe your school just sucked. from 7th to 10th grade we learned all kinds of stuff from ancient greek and rome to the discovery of america and I had ww2 for like 3 months as a topic. And then from 11th grade to 13th it was from french revolution till today with ww2 being a topic for like half a year. At least that's how it was for me.
