Just as the title says, I'm seriously stepping up my game this month to reach my goals of getting a six pack.

However, I need ideas on what to eat in breakfast that is low on carbs. This way I can burn more fat around the stomach area.

Is there any particular breakfast bars that are low on carbs and has almost no fat? Is there anything that I can quickly take if I'm late to school?

I don't cook and my mom probably wouldn't go to the trouble to make me my low carb breakfast meals. It's pretty much eggs, ham, and buttered bread most of the time which is good but fattening.

Please give me ideas. :D

edit: I keep finding these bars with peanut butter flavor or whatever, I don't give a fudge if it tastes good or not.

So basically you want something low on carbs, low on fat, but high in protein? You know, they say the Atkins diet doesn't work >.>

edit: I don't think a low carb diet burns stomach fat either, maybe refined carbs like sugar syrup.

edit2: one site said to do cardio workouts http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_can_you_lose_your_stomach_fat

I didn't say it burns stomach fat. I am under the impression that if there is less carbs, you will quickly get to the fat.

Hardboiled eggs? Cottage cheese? All-natural peanut butter (by itself)? Those are the only things that come to mind.

That sounds like a good idea actually. Maybe a less sugary cereal would help. But bottom line, carbs are necessary. They are the body's preferred energy source, and while refined carbohydrates like candy, soda, sugary cereal may cause weight gain. There's nothing wrong with complex carbohydrates from whole wheat bread etc.

Not to me but it does to some people.
Ironically all natural peanut butter has the exact ratio of protein, fat and starch that is recommended for weight loss. So if you're serious you can just eat like 1.5 tablespoons of that for breakfast.

It doesn't sound like a bad idea...I'll see what I can find in my grocery store.

Smuckers sells all natural peanut butter. Im sure majority of the super markets will carry Smuckers' brand products. I try to eat it with wheat-bread everything instead of having cereal.

Yes, I've seen Smuckers jam and jelly in my grocery store. I haven't seen all natural peanut butter though. Probably because I quickly grab grape jelly and leave.

Eggs are really good for this; scramble one yolk with two extra whites, maybe toss in veggies or low-fat/fat-free shredded cheese if you're into that. You can also get extra lean turkey bacon (lots of salt but actually low fat and tastes decent if nothing like actual bacon). One other thing I love are the Morningstar Farms veggie sausage patties. Sounds disgusting but I find they actually taste really good, especially if you brown them then chop them up and stir them into an omelet or something.

Chill's suggestion of cottage cheese is a good one, as is malongo's of low-fat/fat-free plain (not vanilla it has tons of sugar) yogurt. If you're into artificial sweeteners put a packet of Equal/Splenda in the yogurt, it tastes great. You can also add berries which are high in fiber and antioxidants.

You get accustomed to it. When you first try it it may taste kind of...bland, but after eating it a while (like if you eat it everyday for a week) you eventually learn to like it.

in my experience anyways.

A little tip: doing cardio in the morning before eating will burn more fat, as the carbs from the day before have mostly already been used up overnight. If you don't want to burn your precious muscle away (or at least, to minimize muscle loss), take a protein shake just before doing your cardio.

Don't do, like, HIIT though. That's just asking for trouble :p

I do HIIT in the mornings before breakfast, it's only slightly more brutal than it would be otherwise. x_X

Damn, I want to keep some of the muscle too. I'm doing push ups and lifting a few drum bells. 3 days push ups/3 day lifting.

It's not like you can't do cardio! Just don't do HIIT (high intensity interval training). Keep it low or medium intensity and your guns won't shrivel into prunes!

Yeah, if you have access to a pool do some laps before breakfast maybe? I guess this is really dependent on the season/climate though.
Their are four errors in this sentance.

seems like 100% whole wheat bread(don't be cheap buy the good kind) and cottage cheese.

Cottage cheese isn't to bad. Its like a bit bitter and sour at same time but good.

Or even try some whole wheat bagels with cottage cheese. Eating carbs like bread isn't bad if you work out well.

Edit: Try drinking some hot tea as well with honey. I am not no expert in nutrition but you can also get light wheat bread. Tell you truth I don't even know why I am posting here. I do know that as long as I drink water and work as hard as I want(in the regions I want fancied) I can gain it. Oh stay away from sugary cereals. Fruits containing sugar is a better alternative.

Cardio on an empty stomach might not be a good idea. I've heard that cardio before breakfast will mean your body wants to put on any fat that it can for a period after, and also that you'll burn muscle and not fat when you exercise on an empty stomach.

Here's a link I found after a little bit of googling; it's some people's personal opinions on exercise before eating.

http://www.davedraper.com/cardio-empty-stomach.html

Obviously these are just people's unprofessional opinions, but it's some food for thought.

Wohmfg, thanks for the link!

In simple man terms (my terms), excessively hard cardio with no energy to back it up causes the body to freak and go after muscle not fat. IF I cardio on an empty stomach, I go at no higher than 65-70%. I will go to 85% if I have had a small meal prior to.

Is basically what I was advocating :p

Don't sprint around or do some Lance Armstrong biking, just go at a medium intensity and you'll be fine.

Your body is like a lake of fat, it drains from all places at once. You are not going to "lose fat" from your stomach any more than you'll lose it from your butt, legs, arms, whatever.

Eat bananas, high fiber cereal, oats, brown pasta/bread, chicken, eggs (remove the yolks if you're hardcore about fitness, it has all of the fat in an egg), and only drink water.

Doing push ups is the wrong way to go about losing weight, by the way. You're gonna want to, if trying to lose fat, do cardio 3~ times a week, with lifting weights 2~ times a week. Get a gym membership, unless you have a squat cage and a bench with enough weights at home.

Cottage cheese has the consistency of vomit and the taste of, well, curds of cheese with water surrounding them. I think it tastes horrible and would never concede to eating it, regardless of how fit I wanted to be, but that's just me. My mom's boyfriend loves the stuff, but I really can't handle it.

Also, I can't stress how important water drinking is. You can have milk as well, but just keep it moderated. Milk contains a high fat count, and as such, isn't the best drink you can have. Aim to eat 5-6 times a day, and never to be hungry or full. Find balance.

Consistency is key, and exercise is only 20% of the battle. If you can keep with a good diet, you're on the road to becoming a fit person, and consequently looking great.
Don't put your fingers where you wouldn't put your dick.
