Okay so for all my life I have been very non flexibile. For example when I'm sitting down and try to touch my feet I can only reach barley past my knees. I'm kinda tall almost 6 feet.

My question is what is the fastest/most efficient way to become flexible? I try stretching a bit each day but it seems useless. Is it even worth it to become flexible, besides being able to suck your own cock?

i've been doing a few stretches that last around 10 secs a couple of times a day and in a week i have had great improvement.

I pretty much just stand, reach for my toes and hold it. Same with sitting and also put your foot on something high and try to reach your foot, put don't over do it.

Stretching at night time is a lot easier as well, and if you want to kick someone in the face, then keep on stretching

That has pretty much all the info and examples you need. There's a ton of text so be sure to take your time and digest it rather than try to speed read it.

I was the same as you in hamstring flexibility, I could barely reach halfway past my down my shins. But I got hurt playing soccer one season and had nothing to do in the training room during gym so I asked the trainer to help me improve my flexibility.

There's really no easy way to do it. You may read so articles describing methods that make a bit of difference compared to other methods, but you just need to stretch the muscle a lot for a good amount of time for anything to change.

The way I was doing it was one leg at a time, 5 minutes total, 40 seconds on, 20 seconds off. I actually gained alot of flexibility really quickly doing it this way. Especially considering I had been at the bottom of the class usually in flexibility scores.

The downsides though, it's really not an enjoyable way to spend 10 minutes a day, and you'll be sore for a few days.

It was still worth it IMO. After doing it for a while I could easily grab past my toes and my sit and reach scores were tons higher.

Something important to remember before you do any stretch routine is that you should warm up the muscles that you intend to stretch. If you just start doing intense toe touches that may actually set you up for injury. My suggestion: try to go for a short run (5-10min) and then come back and stretch out your hammies.

Do 20 second stretches in every idle second you have, I see results immediately whenever I decide I'm becoming a bit unflexable.

Don't expect instant results, I know personally I have been involved in Martial Arts for the last two years and have seen amazing results in my flexibility. However it requires dedication to do, it is not something that just happens from 20 seconds a day.

Yeah do some yoga. Oddly enough you will become much stronger as well. There was a point in my life where I only did strengthening exercises and a point that I got stuck in a yoga class at school. I was a lot stronger when I was in yoga

Yoga works your muscles in a different way than conventional methods - there's a lot of focus on static work and balance that can really help make you strong.

If you seriously stretch 10-15 minutes everyday or at least every other day you'll quickly max out. That is, max out at your maximum flexibility. In order to exceed the maximum you really have to be careful as to not hurt yourself.

You will only max out that easily if you are doing stretches that only stretch small groups of muscles or individual muscles.

Yogic flexibility is something that can easily take a lifetime to master.

Yea, that's what I meant but obviously didn't make myself clear enough.

For example, if you focus on your legs and do leg stretches every day for 1-2 weeks you'll max out.

You won't able to do complicated yoga poses in less than 2 weeks.

You realize when someone says "you suck cock", you can no longer say "No I don't" after? lol
I wouldn't say there are specific reasons why it really helps to be flexible but it always makes random little things easier like hackey-sack(sp?) or changing clothes or something.

if you are more flexible then you have a greater range of movement/control, you can move more quickly in certain situations such as turning or maneuvering, you are much much less likely to get injured from whatever, and in many situations you will have more power because your body will be able to move into a position of greater leverage/spring/push/whatever.

when you stretch you should breathe deeply and slowly, in and out. you should stretch slowly and ease into your final position. strong slow breathing is key.

This actually says some things are OK that are bad for you and can lead to injury =\

"Simply twist at an angle one side at a time or side2side. It is wise to let your hips follow through on the stretch when increasing velocity or striving for greater amplitudes."

What bothers me here is that they fail to mention you should be doing this slowly. Going "sid2side" seems to encourage almost throwing your weight into the "stretch" to gain distance, which is further encouraged by saying to follow through on your hips to get velocity.

Bouncing (for lack of a better word) is the last thing you want to do while stretching, ESPECIALLY when it involves your back. The momentum puts extra strain on your muscles that isn't necessary, and sometimes counter productive. It's also very easy to over do it and pull/strain/tear muscles.
