A homeless man who goes by Doc was cashing in change at a Cinemark theater in Dallas when a guy walked up and offered to pay his way into the movie. Doc, who planned to spend his day passing out flyers for a few bucks, accepted a rain check before realizing that he recognized the generous gentleman.

"Was that Tony Romo?" Doc asked the kid behind the counter.

It sure was. Doc hustled across the street to the consignment store that paid him to occasionally pass out flyers and requested the day off. By the time he got back to the theater, "Role Model" had already started.

Romo, who confirmed the story but didn't want to elaborate, waved Doc over to sit by him and his buddy. Doc sheepishly mentioned that he hadn't showered in a few days.

"Don't worry about that," Romo said. "I'm used to locker rooms."

And so the $67 million quarterback and a man who doesn't have $6.70 to his name sat next to each other and shared laughs for 90 minutes or so.

For Romo, who made news by changing a couple's tire on the side of the road on the way home the night of the season opener, it was just another kind gesture to a random stranger. It meant the world to Doc.

"For me, it was a blessing," Doc said. "It came at just the right time. It gave me some encouragement and faith in mankind. I just wanted to say thank you."

The Dallas Cowboys are now my team, romo is a true model for athletes.

romo sounds just like a guy who every one can like and look up to. he was probably raised well.

Not to brag, but I've done more generous things. With 67million he could have done a little more.

Edit: Still a good gesture from him though

I hate the Cowboys with every inch of my being, but Romo seems like just a straight up, down to earth good guy.

I'm impressed. Maybe he will be a good influence on some of his teammates. (i.e. Pacman Jones, TO, Tank Johnson...)

Nice guy --> Romo being a role model --> See's Role Models --> Irony?
P.S. Btw that movie was fucking hilarious, I recommend seeing it if you haven't already.

Some of his arrests are so fucking hilarious, just read some of the articles, they're all funny

Witnesses at the strip club told authorities that Jones grabbed money from a large plastic trash bag and showered strippers on stage with cash in an act known as "making it rain." A melee ensued, and shots were fired later outside the club. Urbanski, another bouncer and a female patron were wounded.

Adam "Pacman" Jones paid "extortion" money to a 29-year-old man arrested for a Las Vegas strip club shooting that left a club employee paralyzed, police said.

The only NFL player suspended for the 2007 season by commissioner Roger Goodell made his wrestling debut on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's weekly show "iMPACT!" on Spike TV, and the five-year-old company teased Jones' appearance early and often. [...]

"You don't know me ... Nobody knows me ... misunderstood. Nobody knows who I am. A player, a gamebreaker, a risk-taker, a man," Jones said in the background while he was shown posing and shadow-boxing in a darkened wrestling ring.

"I am just me. Pacman is coming to 'Hard Justice.' Pacman is coming to TNA," he said.

Jones appeared on ESPN2's "First Take" and immediately disputed how many times he's been arrested.

"Everybody keeps saying I've been arrested six times," Jones said.

"I haven't been arrested six times. I've only been arrested twice. I've been accused and people have put warrants out on me numerous other times, but as of today I'm on no probation, I haven't been charged with anything, so I'm just keeping my head up and make sure I'm doing everything to make sure I'm all right with myself." [...]

Jones' sixth arrest came in June when he was booked by Las Vegas police in the most serious case. Jones is under indictment there on two felony counts of coercion stemming from a February fight at a strip club that left a bouncer paralyzed. [...]

Jones told ESPN2 that he did visit a strip club the night before a hearing with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in New York in April. Jones said he went in to get something to eat and that was what he told Goodell.

"If I could do anything different, I wouldn't have went and gotten nothing to eat then. There wasn't even no girls in there"

That's awesome, just when you thought you were losing faith in humanity...

And you know, maybe it's just me, but once you have 67 million dollars, you won't be doing the nice things you claim to be doing anymore... Just an assumption though.

I think it was a nice thing to do, but the person who wrote in the article "meant the world to him," is a piece of shit lol. It was just a good day to take the bite out of a series of long, shitty ones.

I don't know if I'd praise him as much as everybody else in this thread but... I will say he's a pretty cool guy for not being afraid of the general public.
